This is a Marlin 336Y in 30-30. The action was smoothed, added the curly maple from Marlin, large loop, XS rail and sights, Ranger Point trigger, hammer extension, follow on tube, mag tube cap, leather wrap on lever. This was my COVID19 lockdown project.

Recieved my lever for my Marlin straight grip 1895GS today. The installation was simple and quick and did not need any modifications. It looks amazing. Function is flawless and smooth. I am suprised that it didn't require any fine tuning at all. Very happy I made this upgrade.

My cloverleaf arrived today. I had a little time before dark so I mounted it on my Marlin 336 35 Remington & 4 shots later It was zeroed in at 50 yards with my factory front. Easy peazy & like I said, the sun was going down so the red fiber optic dots were an awesome addition to the sight picture. I'll probably add a green front at some point to help me get on target a little quicker.

Easy to install, and I love the aggressive checkering. It really allows for a solid grip to your thumb when wearing gloves during cold weather hunts. Well done!

Fast shipping, easy install.

Overall happy. I had to do some Major filling on the loop lever. The action would not open all the way. Took a while to figure it out and where to fill. But love a challenge. The peep sight was a no brainer. Had to use the added riser plate for the 45-70. But all fine. The dovetail barrel plug slid right in by hand. Used blue lock tight to secure it and still remove it if needed. I’m happy and would do it again.

RP have been very helpful in this project. The rifle certainly came out functionally and aesthetically for me in the top end of 'very happy'. All parts fitted and came together with or no effort.

While hunting Whitetail deer & Elk in North Idaho 

Oct.-Nov. 2020

   I learned my gloved hand would not fit in my 30/30y brush rifle / truck gun, while walking in to my treeling blind I stumbled into a bull Elk just 30 feet from me, on a ridge to the right of the trail 3 feet above my elevation I only had visual of him broadside butt to top of shoulders through a downed tree & his head to shoulder were buried In a tree, as he was marking territory or just had an itch. He didn't hear, see or smell me....I had him! 30/06 slung over my pack no way I can pull it...not with out him hearing.

 I shoulder my 30/30 but could not get my fingers in the lever...!

(Yes....I never tryed to put my hand in the lever while wairing gloves ...my bad)

quickly I took a knee get my rifle down at my feet not so quietly unbuckle & drop my pack & pull my gloves off grab the 30/30 off the ground stand up to a shooting stance....he hasn't moved, shoulder the rifle ,safety off (CLICK)  hammer back (CLICK CLICK) trigger finger at the ready But I cant see his head Antlers

I dont know at this time if he's legal. I stood for almost a full minute, At the ready as he ripped most of a 5 year old dugfer to shreds.

40 yards out & off to the left at my 9 o'clock 2 more Elk young bulls blow out!

The movement draws my eye.

 A legal young bull turns broadside & squared up at a perfect shot, I was so excited My heart was pounding out of my chest!..but at 40 yards & using a red dot, I couldn't ethically take the shot. Reacquiring my original target I can see he's strong & mature & still has no idea I'm standing right beside him but he's been alerted & with 1 step I no longer had a heart & lungs shot (CRAP!) Another step out comes his head .....no joking the biggest bull I have ever seen! Looks right at me while chewing...He's stunned & I swear in his eyes I could see panic, slacked jaw he dropped whatever he was chewing on then leaped 15 feet into the thick alders & all I could do was listen to the crashing getting further away. Heartbroken & beating myself up about the hole thing 

I began looking to upgrade my Marlin 30/30y found a series of RPP upgrade YouTube videos 

So as of now I have the RPP trigger Gold with the lower power hammer spring 

Safety delete,
loading gate also gold,
RPP quick takedown screw in black (wish they had the Gold takedown screw)
& the RPP aluminum mag tube follower which I haven't actually got yet... All the parts I have got are crisp, clean & are of high quality I absolutely love the fit & finish the DYI YouTube videos are very comprehensive & I have had no issue installing.  


But I still haven't been able to get my hands on a RPP medium hoop lever or the rocket pod mag tube cap between RPP's emails ending up in my spam file & waiting on parts to be in stock I'm at 3 months & counting. Damn Covid!


Also rocking a Midwest industries M-lock forend, XS Lever scout picitinny rail system with ghost ring sights, A Bushnell reddot sight I do carry a paracord sling but I dont use it unless I'm in camp for the 250lb TomCats.

Had to order parts as they became available and did the installation of all the parts myself using available videos online. I was concerned I may have broken the trigger but Kimberly from “sales” assured me all was fine. I highly recommend Ranger Point Precision parts.

Cloverleaf peep sight was first upgrade. Well made, easily adjustable and simple install. Trigger, follower and front sight on the way. No regrets!

overall good experience, the only minor issue is the polymer forend does
have movement even though barrel band adapter is fully tightened. Think may have to shim the adapter against the barrel.
