Found this solution after cutting my finger on the stiff factory loading gate. Install was easy, and now it loads way easier and no worries of getting bit again.
It offers just the right amount of spring. Well made and function is better then the original.

The brass insert and steel guide rod improve the feel of the Steyr M9-A1; it keeps me on target and tightens my groups at 15 yards. It was easy to install the brass insert; trickier was the guide rod because the captured spring flies- off and the plastic rod must be incapacitated to install the steel one. It is all worth while.

This hammer extension is a great addition to my new Marlin 30-30.

Before purchasing the guide rod, I contacted the company with a question. I was pleasantly surprised someone answered my email over the Christmas holidays. Two thumbs up!

If that is not enough, the rod comes with the necessary hex wrench, which many companies do not provide. Another kudos for that!

The rod is a very nice upgrade, cleanly machined, and is going to last forever, unlike the crumbling plastic Steyr uses in the otherwise incredible gun. As an additional benefit, it does provide extra weight in front of the handgun, which is a bit too light IMHO.

As it appears everyone is somewhat struggling with the installation, here are two tricks, which I learned when dealing with HK USP and Beretta Cougar:
1. Use a pocket knife or a small flat screwdriver to lift the end of the first coil of the spring a bit when at the flat side of the end cap of the plastic guide rod. If this seems cryptic, look at it, and you will understand what I am talking about - it is in shape a circle with two sides chopped off, you need the spring end aligned with one of the flats. Then start rotating the rod, as if you are unscrewing it from the spring and the lifted end of the spring will climb on top of the rounded part of the rod's end. Few small pieces will crumble from the top of the plastic, but you can get the spring out, without destroying the rod. Be prepared when you get the first two-three coils off, most of the spring will slip off the rod, but it will not fly away across the room.
2. Using the new, steel rod as uncaptured one, put it with the spring in the gun's slide. You need to wrestle the spring a little bit, but you do not need superhuman strength or dexterity. I have weak-ish arms, and I am developing arthritis, and it took me about 30 seconds to get it in. For best results, put the slide vertically on the table top, with the muzzle down on the flat surface, then with your dominant hand apply pressure down on the rod's backend, and use your weak one to wiggle its frontend into the remaining coils of the spring. Once you have captured it in the slide, put the slide on the gun, pull it back and lock it with the slide lock. Now you have the spring very securely captured inside, not interfering with what you are doing, and the front end of the rod exposed to you, so you can put the screw (apply some blue loctite if you want) and tighten it. Once you have it screwed to the end, remove the slide, then remove the rod (which now has the captured spring) and tighten a bit more, as previously the rod was rotating in the slide.

Lastly, as the rod is a bit costly, it makes sense to buy the pack of rod and weight, you need both, you will like both, and you will end up saving few bucks. :-)

If your weight comes with the screws in it (as mine did) you have to remove them, then push it in the frame, and only then screw them in.

Lastly, as the weight is a bit costly, it makes sense to buy the pack of rod and weight, you need both, you will like both, and you will end up saving few bucks. :-)

Just finished installing in my 1894 357 and my dummy rounds loaded a lot easier than original loading gate. Will be ordering one for my 1894 45 colt.

Wow...just wow. So much easier to load AND unload my .45-70 Govt. No pinched fingers and no brass shavings. Super easy install. Do not overtighten the screw because it breaks easily...just snug it. A++

I just installed my new loading gate on my Marlin 1894 357. Only have run dummy rounds thru and can't believe how easy it is to load now. Will be ordering one for my 1894 45c real soon. Very impressed.

Would first like to say very good products from Ranger Point. I’ve purchased the lever, lever quick takedown screw, loading gate and the barrel dovetail filler for my Marlin 336. The only complaint is shipment to Canada.

RPP Products are great and the customer support is outstanding. I ordered a fly weight gate for my 1953 Marlin 336SC. My Marlin is much older than what the gates were designed for and the boss on the gate was just a little too thick to slide by the carrier. RPP offered a complete refund if thinning the boss did not work. I thinned the boss with a file until it fit. The Fly Weight gate functioned flawlessly for the 2018 hunting season. Loading and unloading the rifle is now much easier and can be done with gloves on.

The gate on my 53 'SC works so well that I purchased them for my 336SS and 1894GS. What a great product. My Guide gun also sports a Rhino rail.

The RPP Hammer Spur extensions are absolutely wonderful. I installed one on my 336SS for the 2018 hunting season. Maine is cold and you need to hunt with gloves on. The grip of the spur allows it to be used with thick gloves without any risk of slippage. I will be purchasing them for my other Marlins.

Each RPP product has great design and flawless manufacturing. Customer support is as good as can it can possibly be.

I'm very pleased with the quality and service from Ranger Point Precision. The loops on these things are much more comfortable to use with my hands (13/2xl).

These sights are exactly what I was looking for. Awesome quality with great fit, low profile and quick sight picture. I didn’t mind my skinner winged sight but struggled to find a front sight that I liked. The cloverleaf sight has a much lower profile and better fits the lines of the gun. You will need to drift out the old buckhorn sight. The points in the aperture makes for more precise alignment with the front sight. With a little more practice, I’ll be ready for deer season next year.

Very impressed with the fit and finish. Will buy again for my 336 once I have the money.

Loved converting my S40-A1 to .357 sig so much that I did it with an L40-A1. Got the threaded barrel this time for the L.

Like all the other reviews it ( the .850) fit perfectly on my Ruger 10/22.
