.38/200 Military Load
Shot them through an H&R 38 S&W "Defender" top-break 5 shot revolver of 1940's vintage and they seem powerful. No problems with the rounds or the pistol. I even dared to remotely fire them through an older 1900's vintage 38 S&W top break 5 shot revolver, probably a Hopkins and Allen but trade name stamp is "Thames Arms Co" . The rounds again fired and the 1900's pistol took that military load heat with no visible warning signs. Just a test on that one, not going to use these rounds in it except for remote firing tests. Would be all 5 stars except for two primer failures. And yes, all those primers were hit very sharp and deep by the pistol's firing pins. For use in these older pistols it would be nice to know the powder used and the grains used in these military loads. I know all the warnings about top break revolvers. I want to reload down and I'd like to know what that Hopkins and Allen withstood (grains of powder) on my remote test. Everybody repeats the warnings given by Ken Waters in "Pet Reloads" about 1890 - 1900 vintage top break revolvers also called Baby Russians.

I picked up a nice Carcano and went looking for ammo to realize that is was almost impossible to find. Old milsurp is questionable at best. Stimel listed it but the wait was really long but worth it. I have not fired it enough to verify consistency but I am really pleased.
