It was not really a rescue animal center, but more a zoo... and i expected more contact with local poeple. And have mot much freetime to diacover town, shedule very busy.

I had an absolutely incredible experience at Leo Africa.
The staff's extensive knowledge of wildlife and naturecombined with their unwavering passion and dedication to conservation and monitoring truly stood out. Their commitment to preserving the natural environment and protecting wildlife was evident in everything they did. They generously shared their expertise with us and I left feeling
like I had gained a wealth of knowledge about the animals plants and ecosystems. One of the highlights of my trip was connecting with amazing volunteers from around the world forging friendships that made the experience even more special. The daily field drives though intense were incredibly rewarding. Getting to see the animals up close and monitoring their well-being was both exciting and humbling. A particularly memorable moment was witnessing the darting of a buffalo to remove a snare from its neck and treat its wounds.The precision and care the team demonstrated during this delicate operation were remarkable and showed just how dedicated they are to the wellbeing of the animals. Their tireless efforts to ensure the safety and conservation of wildlife are truly inspiring. The work done by Leo Africa for conservation cannot be commended enough. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will cherish forever and I hope to return to Leo Africa in the near future to contribute again to their meaningful and impactful work.

Clément est rentré très content de son séjour et avec l'envie de revenir. Il aurait cependant aimé faire plus de recherche scientifique pas seulement apprendre des choses mais aussi faire plus d'expériences scientifiques. Nous sommes contents également de ce beau séjour en petits groupes avec un bon esprit d'attention aux autres et de bienveillance pendant lequel Clément ne s'est visiblement pas ennuyé et en a apprécié tous les aspects. Le point d'amélioration principal serait la communication le site internet est complexe beaucoup de mails avant le séjour mais pas toujours très clairs une différence entre l'énoncé du séjour qui indique une démarche scientifique rigoureuse et la pratique du séjour qui semble moins professionnelle qu'annoncée. Par ailleurs le fait que les lieux de séjours soient peu nombreux ajoute un coût et une logistique non négligeablesà un séjour qui coûte déjà cher

C'est une expérience exceptionnelle par son intérêt scientifique écologie nature la rencontre avec les participants avec qui forcément vous partagez des valeurs communes et le cadre magnifique des îles de Madagascar

Marokintana 2024 m'a permis de rencontrer l'incroyable Requin Baleine et les tortues vertes et Tortues imbriquées mais aussi de découvrir des îles et forêts sublimes. La portée scientifique du séjour et le partage des connaissances des encadrantes et des autres intervenants rencontrés permet de mieux comprendre les enjeux relatifsà ces espèces et autres autres (Baleine d'Omura par exemple). De belles rencontres humaines également au programme.
Ce séjour est bien évidement trop court pour bien tout comprendre et surtout pour découvrir véritablement Madagascar aussi si vous pouvez prolongez votre séjour !

What a wonderful wholesome experience! My time at Daktari included making worldwide connections lifelong friends and meeting children that crept deep into my heart. The animal experiences were top class and definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity. I loved every second of my time at Daktari and would come back in a heartbeat. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to broaden their perspective make an impact and learn something new.

I highly recommend this great experience. We came as a couple and it was great. The toilets kitchens tents etc. are clean. We were very well received and the days were very rich. The days start early but also end early most of the time which leaves time to rest in the afternoon.
We had the chance to see a lot of animals and we were able to learn a lot from Harry Marge and Kutasa.
We helped reintroduce cheetahs into the reserve which was incredible. For example we were also able to observe a veterinarian carrying out small interventions on the rinhoceros following vaccinations.

It had an excellent time at the Game Reserve! The organisation was perfect and in my time there I got to know how wildlife mangagement and conservation works. It was a truly magnificent time with a lot of incredible encounters.

Quand vous arrivezà La Ventanilla Beatriz vous présente aux personnes de la communauté toutes chaleureuses et bienveillantes. Les activités que Beatriz a mise en place sont toujours juste de sens pour protéger ce bel environnement et les espèces qui y vivent. Je n'ai jamais vu un lieu aussi rempli de vie que la lagune! Sortir en barque la nuit tombée avec des biologistes pour répertorier les crocodiles ou patrouiller sur la plage pour récolter et mettreà l'abris les nids des tortues c'est incroyable on en apprend des choses grâceà Tartarukus !!

Dear future volunteer The Hawaii sanctuary is not just a project where you will be taught about all the different kinds of animals and their behaviors you will also learn a lot about humans about yourself and you will learn how to feel home at a place that is not your own. If you thinking about choosing this project here are the experience that I made during my stay in Hawaii which hopefully effect your decision to choose this project because its more than worth it! I chose this project because it is something completely different to what I do in Germany. In Germany I am working with mentally ill people and before I started studying I wanted to do something different. This volunteer was the first time I traveled completely by myself and I loved it. I never imagine that I will grow so much during these 6 weeks that I stayed there. I learned a lot from my host not just about the animals more about life. She is a really sweet and kind woman and when you get to know her you will see that she is really special and amazing in her own way. She taught me more about life in these 6 weeks that I learned my last 19 years of life. She told me so much about the animals and their specific behavior that I noticed there is not such a big different between a human and an animal that got mistreated – the only and big different is that a human can speak to you. You will notice that every single animal there has their own story and after some time the animals get to know you and they will begin to trust you. You will experience how unique the trust of an animal can be even it can take a long time and effort. This project is not like any other project you can choose. You will recognize really fast that there are a lot of things you have to remember and you will get a lot of responsibility from the beginning but it is makeable! You will get the chance to be part of their family and you have to know that all the animals are part of it. She once told me that she noticed a big different how you can treat an animal you can treat it like you own it – it is your property but also you can treat it with respect and love the same kindness you would give to your family. You will see that the host is giving everything for the animals and all the volunteers who are coming to help her care as much as she does. I think that this makes this project so special because you will be part of this beautiful family and you will get all the trust from the host and her volunteers to keep this family safe. The Hawaii sanctuary is not a project for people who only want to travel you will work four full days and two half days a week and it is hard but it is really worth it. Even you will work a lot you will notice that she is trying her best to make your stay there amazing. I still had a lot of time to travel with the other international volunteers that joined me at the project and it was stunning. Hawaii is a really special place and I think you will never meet so many kind people and so many beautiful places again. When I came there I knew that this experience will be really unique to me but I never image when I came back home that I will miss the people the animals and the nature so much it feels like part of my heart stayed there. If this letter convinced you to go to Hawaii to do a volunteer say hi to Ann and Norm all the monkeys and especially to my lovely parrot Willy! You will not regret this decision believe me. I spent six months at Daktari and I can say without a doubt that it was the best experience of my life. I left with some apprehensions about going to a remote place in the middle of the bush on the other side of the world. Daktari is like a family where we are warmly welcomed. With lodging food and laundry taken care of Daktari feels like home. I only met kind volunteers who shared the same goal: to educate children and care for animals. The surrounding nature is stunning and living among these iconic South African animals is very impressive. I would recommend anyone wanting to experience life in such an environment to go to Daktari. A huge thank you to Michèle Camilla and Ian without whom none of this would be possible. And a special thought for Gaspar the cutest meerkat in the world. I will definitely come back.

I wanted to volunteer for the Scottish Wildlife Trust to get a work experience abroad before looking for a job in my country. After only 2 weeks of work I felt in love with Scotland and decided to stay and find a job there. The landscapes are breathtaking and the people I met at work and during my free time are absolutely the best. In the end this volunteering has been an amazing springboard for me. It helped me to move in Scotland and to find my dream job.

As soon as I saw this opportunity I knew I had to do it even though Mongolia was not somewhere I had ever thought to go before. The people working at Hustai National Park made everything so easy from picking me up at the airport to finding and booking a hostel for me to stay at for a couple of nights. The food was delicious though they gave me SO MUCH to eat that I thought I gained at least 5 pounds and the ger was a lot of fun to experience living in. It was very cozy. Everyone I interacted with was so nice and caring whether they spoke English or not and I never felt unwelcome. I pretty much shadowed the biologist I was with since it was too cold for me to go out and track Takhi so if you want to work with the horses more I'd suggest going between May and September but I still got to experience a lot of cool things. We went out at night and early in the morning trying to find wolves counted animals in a certain area of the park picked up litter with the rangers and I even saw a goat be born! I was also given multiple presentations about the park's history and the plants and animals living there and even got to help critique a presentation and the brochure so the sentence structure was more natural to native English speakers. It was an all around great experience and I need to go back but probably in the summer next time. :) The people at Fronteering were very helpful and quickly answered any questions that I had. They were wonderful
