A fantastic place to volunteer or visit. Everyone is extremely welcoming and it's really interesting to learn about a way to use plastic in a positive way. The nature is extraordinary and you really feel like you're part of a big family.

Unfortunately we were only at the project for 10 days but with my whole little family including our two boys (4 &8 years old!). It was one of the best parts of our trip through Southeast Asia. The local people the guiding idea of the project and the breathtaking nature make it an unforgettable experience. I had to promise my son that we would come back - and we will! Keep up the good work!

I spent three weeks with Underwater Africa and it has been an amazing experience. I had the chance to learn a lot about the local ocean and estuary ecosystems thanks to Liv's and Calum's knowledge and passion. We set out overnight camera traps analysed plankton samples looked at seahorses and juvenile fish in the estuary reef. Mostly I went on many dives where I had the opportunity to observe these vibrant and stunning reef sites and was lucky enough to be greeted by a giant manta ray during my last dive of the trip. On top of the research aspects I learnt a lot about the local culture and people making it a very enriching experience on all levels. During my stay everyone took very good care of me and helped me with everything I needed. The local community is kind and cheerful and the Barra-Tofo area is a little corner of paradise. Hopefully I will have the chance to come back one day to see the results of this impactful work in terms of research and conservation and to get the chance to see some whales during the right season. But for now just a big thank you to Underwater Africa for making this trip so memorable!

his was my first experience volunteering abroad and I was quite nervous. I chose Canada as it seemed like a more easy going and safe destination. That was also exactly what it was. The people in Canada are just so friendly and Fronteering was also very helpful. I was taking care of animals during the baby season. This means I got to bottle fed many different kind of animals which was great. I was going to take part in the program again a year later but I instead decided to go to south America instead for a much bigger adventure!

I am really not good at this but here It goes. I am from Georgia USA and I needed to get some experience for my education back home. I am a biology student and I am planning to work in wildlife conservation and rescue after I graduate. I chose this program since it was mentioned that it gives the best possible experience for my resume. There are different locations for this program but if you mention that you are looking for experience as this is your field of study then they will place you with the most relevant project which in my case was a wildlife hospital. I got a lot of experience and I learned quite a bit. The area is also very nice and the great lakes are beautiful. Traveling around can be a bit difficult unless you have a rental car since it is quite isolated. My purpose was different of course but I am just saying if you are coming to travel and see places then its something you should be aware of.

I did the mangrove reforestation and coral reef rehabilitation and woowâ. it was amazing! I really enjoyed those 2 days. We learned so much about corals mangrove why they are so crucial for us humans and ecosystem. A lot of it was learning by doing which was super fun. I can only recommend everyone trying it out. Maybe coming back in the future

Everything was very well organised the Hides Hotel is a budget hotel and accordingly a bit old. The single rooms are in the old building and unfortunately a bit musty. But it's fine with the windows open during the day. The hour-long trip to the island and back on a tourist boat gets a bit tiring after a while 2 weeks were just about OK. As well as Fitzroy Island there are also turtles in the aquarium which was very close. The work itself was good 2-4 hours preparing food (squids prawns salad vegetables) cleaning the tanks cleaning utensils tidying up. You could also take your time and interact with the animals a bit but unfortunately you couldn't touch them as they are still wild animals that can bite and are released back into the wild. Physiotherapy and cleaning of the animals is only carried out by the team member when necessary.

Everything is fine We arrived well on Tuesday evening after a long trip we were very well received. This is a beautiful place with beautiful people. The food is very good there is only the wifi that is a little weak but it doesn't matter.

Volunteering at the Biological Park Conservation project was an eye-opening adventure .From hands-on tasks like planting native vegetation to assisting in animal care and helping with the maintenance of park infrastructure every day presented a new opportunity to make a positive impact.

I spent 3 weeks of time at LEO Africa. I still can't believe that I've realised a dream my dream. I already want to go back.
Ever since I was little I've wanted to have this kind of experience. And thanks to Leo Africa I was able to learn an enormous amount about animals and the environment. I took part in the drives the bush walks (my fondest memories) and the conservation work. I enjoyed every moment thanks to the team and rangers who were so kind attentive and very professional.
The camp is located in the bush and the animals often walk around it. At night we could even hear the animals calling. It's just magical you feel like you're sleeping with them.
Volunteering is also a great way to travel. It's a great opportunity to help a good cause and discover lots of new things at the same time.
This was my first trip on my own and also my first time volunteering and it will remain one of my fondest memories. So thank you again for making my dream come true.
It's a unique experience and I can't recommend it highly enough. You should go for it if you love animals nature and meeting new people.

Beautiful experience!
I had an amazing experience with Project Wings and Telaga Cinta. It was nice to see how from the project they try to educate children and people in the town to change their mindset towards waste and it was very interesting to work on their different projects. I especially enjoyed the opportunity to meet local people and learn more about their culture. Ywan his family and friends made me feel at home. They checked on us all the time to ensure we were ok and organized activities for us. I only stayed one week and recommend people stay longer if they can there are many things to do and places to visit on the island. Hopefully I will go back one day again.

I spend 4 months at Daktari and I will never regret it! Daktari is an amazing place where we feel that we have a real impact with the kids. You will not just teach kids but you will also learn a lot about yourself and about a lot of other things. Moreover you will also meet amazing people from all over the world with who you will build strong connections. I really recommend this experience!

I was staying there for 2 weeks in 2023. It was a great experience! It's perfect for people making experience travelling alone for the first time. It's a great mix between working at the placement and free time. The accomodation at the hostel is cozy and beautiful and it's super close to the diving center! As a beginner I really enjoyed these 2 weeks and got the Open Water certification!

Everything is allright. The family host in San José is very kind. I visited San José yesterday. This morning I arrived at the rescue center and it's amazing!
It is beautifull the animals are so cute. And the volunteers are very friendly. Thanks for everything and have a good day!

What does it mean to do nature conservation?
I realized that you cannot fully understand it until you go into the field. Volunteering at Leo Africa I realized that it is hard work beyond imagination often frustrating a constant struggle against poaching lack of education about the concept of ecosystems and sustainable coexistence with other species. Anyone on the front lines of nature and wildlife conservation is not doing a job but a mission which will produce no personal glory but gives the privilege at the end of the day of knowing that the efforts will benefit future generations. In my time-limited contribution to Leo Africa mission I have felt useful like few times in my life.
And I learned that in love for the environment around us in kindness to its creatures we can find hope in nature we can find freedom. I loved every minute of my experience there.

I spent six weeks volunteering and they were some of the best of my life! This was my sixth Africa trip and just like the others it delivered on all fronts! From the beginning I was involved in every aspect of their Biomonitoring work. This included Plains Monitoring Game Transects Vegetation Surveys and Camera Trap research with Panthera. I even witnessed three veterinary interventions. If someone told me a couple months ago I would do all this I probably would've laughed them off! Amazing wildlife encounters were a major staple of every week I was out there. This reserve hosts an astounding range of species. I'm honoured to have played a small part in helping the Biomonitoring team protect them. Working with the staff on the Biomonitoring team was delightful; each one was incredibly knowledgeable with an infectious enthusiasm. They are incredibly welcoming and ensure everyone is involved as much as possible. Seize the moment and savour every second is my advice to anyone who is considering volunteering! Highlight and most memorable moment. Perhaps the most memorable moment for me was seeing a brown hyena in broad daylight near the end of my second week! We were parked near Nyala Plains observing a male rhino (checking on an injury he'd sustained recently) when right out of the blue a brown hyena darted out into the open and streaked across the plains in clear view of our vehicle. Whole sequence lasted less than a minute but to see one of Africa's most elusive predatory mammals was a huge thrill for everyone especially me! Of all the sightings I had over this trip this was perhaps the most special since the strictly nocturnal brown hyena is practically never seen during daylight hours!

Hi Fronteering Everything was great at my program! I loved it there and I had such a good experience. Every day I was either out on the trails snowmobiling or dogsledding or helping out at the chalet. I really enjoy helping out here. I met great people and I was really happy! Thank you.
