We are so happy with our butcher block, it is the centerpiece of our new kitchen. We ordered the butcher block unfinished and applied several coats of sealer, which brought out the natural beauty of the wood. We have only had it installed for a few weeks now, but we couldn't be more pleased with our purchase. The quality of Hardwood Lumber Company's wood is unparalleled to any other butcher block I have seen (we returned 3 from other big box stores before settling on this one). We highly recommend this product, I know this is something that will stand the test of time.

Lots of sapwood. Nothing like the photo. I was expecting knots and a little sapwood. The tread I received was half sapwood, so it is half white, half heartwood. It is very evident that they just glue random scrap with no thought given to appearance. No reason to pay the walnut premium. You might as well stain a cheaper wood. I'm glad I just ordered a couple for a sample and not the whole staircase.

Wood looks beautiful. We ordered the wrong size so had to get a second piece. That one was the edge grain instead of end so used it for a bathroom vanity top. Third time was the charm. All three pieces are beautiful (2 just oil and bee's wax; vanity stained and poly).

We were looking for a butcher block top for our island that would replace an ugly fake stone top that we had put up with for too long. We knew a butcher block was what we wanted, but local places were going to charge us over $1000 for something comparable. We found our new island top Hardwood Lumber and even though we thought it was expensive to ship, in total we spent way less than the other options. We love our new top. It has changed our mornings and nights. Before we didn’t have a place to sit (our old top didn’t over hang) and now we sit there all the time. We’re a bit obsessed with keeping it clean too, so we tend to be cleaner now in general...well at least in our kitchen.

The product was fine - although one of the edges I asked to be beveled was not. The biggest problem is wth setting timing expectations and then failing. I called before I placed the order to confirm my shipment would arrive two weeks before a big open house so that I would have time to stain install and have tile work done. They didnt call to tell me they were running three weeks behind. I had to call them for updates several times. They refused to adjust the price OR let me pay additional for rush shipping or rush order - when I just wanted it when they told me it would come. It came in two weeks late - hours before the open house. It was a nightmare. Terrible customer service. Would not recommend to anyone.

I ordered the unfinished hickory face grain countertops for install in a cabin I am remodeling primarily because the price was very competitive with laminate. Although the lead time to delivery was quite a bit longer than listed on the website, I am glad I was patient. The items came well packaged. Install was pretty simple based on some Youtubes I reviewed. I ended up finishing with a product called Waterlox and that required another week since they recommend 6 coats with 24 hours between coats. However, the final product was absolutely stunning.

I am extremely happy that I purchased from Hardwood Lumber Company. The countertop arrived in an extremely well packed container. Not the slightest ding or damage. I ordered unfinished and un-edged. I used an 1/8" round over rout on the edge. Finished with Urethane. It installed perfectly. Most importantly, it is exactly what my wife wanted and she couldn't be happier. My first choice should I need these types of products in the future.
