We did chose to sand and reapply mineral oil a few times, and it really made a difference with the overall look of the grain. The ordering process was easy and the reps were very helpful. I have ordered two of these and they are perfect. I ordered the 3/4 inch for the bar area and the 1 inch for the kitchen. All I had to do was add a little board oil and wax and they were ready for action. The best part was I ordered two from Harwood Lumber Company what would cost me one from everywhere else. Ordered the hickory facegrain countertops for a cabin remodel. While the delivery time was much longer than listed on the website (over 6 weeks), the end product was excellent. Ended up finishing with Waterlox which seemed to work well and made the grain really pop. A couple of the guys that were doing work at our place couldn't believe the price that was paid for these. All and all it ended up being about the same price as laminate countertops.

Took a couple of samples to figure it out. Opted for unfinished with distressing and medium ogee edges. Then sanded some to get the hand rubbed effect we wanted. I am extremely happy that I purchased from Hardwood Lumber Company. The countertop arrived in an extremely well packed container. Not the slightest ding or damage. I ordered unfinished and un-edged. I used an 1/8" round over rout on the edge. Finished with Urethane. It installed perfectly. Most importantly, it is exactly what my wife wanted and she couldn't be happier.
