Fabulous day and event! I moved to Southampton over a year ago and this event actually made me feel like I was 'home' the crowds were amazing, really kept me going through the tough miles
I cannot wait to be a part of it next year. This event rocks!!

Great event, spoilt by "keep to the left marathon runners coming through" every one was running their own race and all had equal priority. Don't have a double lap route in future, as it was obvious the faster runners would eventually lap those whom weren't as quick on their feet.

I enjoyed the race up to the point where the 10k runners joined the course. It became very congested especially over the Itchen Bridge. May I suggest that all walkers be asked to keep to the outside if the road and not to walk more than two abreast to allow faster competitors to get past?

I like to start on a positive! Thank you. First marathon so, important! You were great about my injured friend transferring her place to me. That attitude creates goodwill.
The Marshalls, volunteers, were brilliant. So enthusiastic, encouraging, supportive. Great members of the public. Water stations: for me they were in the right places at the right time. I never felt short of water.
However, things that could be hugely improved:
Should a marathon JUST be a marathon.? The half with it actually, for me, caused no problems. The 10k..DISASTER. You CANNOT have a 10k merging with s marathon. Ever. For everyone's sake! Coming off the bridge after lap1 with these top club 10k ers storming through. We're in their way. We're having to get out of their way. Then trying to keep to marathon pace whilst they're in amongst you. Disaster.
The marshalls (NOT their fault, they did not appear to have benn briefed. At all.) Yes we need encouragement. But do we need information more?. None of them even seemed to have the same maps we were sent..? NOT ONE knew where the toilets were along the course. I was misinformed by two which resulted in a circa 4K pace increase .. to still find no loos. The men were all going in the parks. Not so nice for a girl. One girl went into someone's house! The only loos were behind the ambulance. Completely hidden. Too far into the course. Not enough! All marshalls should have known next places for loos, water, medical.
No idea where the start was. Everyone confused.
The finish didn't feel well planned, it felt like there were about 2 false finishes..the last mile went on and on and even then we were being misinformed as to round which corner it was. Could not sense it and it was agonising...

First race I've done, the bridge is ****, the running is very painful, but it's a good event, well run and enjoyable overall :)

Great race. Very well organised. Bag drop was a joy as usual. Lots of encouragement on the course. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

The race was really good fun until I hit the bridge LOL. Will probably mis it next year because I'm going to run the London marathon but I will be keeping a eye on the days.

I really enjoyed the course this year - it seemed to be faster this way round. The marshalling was excellent as was the support around the course. I even enjoyed the bridge!!
It would help the baggage reclaim people if the labels were larger, even if they were printed separately to make it easier to find bags post race.
I look forward to the event next year - it has become one not to miss!

On the whole it was a pleasant and fun day, helped by the favourable weather. The only criticism I have is that there were not enough water stations ????

A great run with a brilliant atmosphere. Start needs looking at though, there were hundreds of slower runners at the front of the half. Perhaps clearer pre race instructions to get in the correct time zone would help? Other slight ****** meeting the bulk of the 10k runners at the bridge, was then a battle to get by from there to the finish.

Very well organised event. Was good fun and the crowd made it even more enjoyable.

In general I enjoyed the half marathon but found I got tired of being shouted at to get out of the way for the marathon runners as if we were an inconvenience
