Great debut marathon

No toilet in the race way. I was thinking to try the full marathon next year, but without toilets, it will not be possible, I cannot poo on myself.

Awesome race, only improvement would be putting the water stations a bit further into the course.

Generally I thought it was a really good event and great for the city. The atmosphere was really good and the event was well run. However I do have some things that I believe were negatives.

I did the 10k and it felt like more focus was on the half and full marathon. Why didn't we get a race pack? The finishers t-shirt was nice though.

The 10k route wasn't that interesting and was a bit dull. The best stuff seemed to be on the other runs. I was disappointed we didn't go through the stadium. That would have been cool.

There was no toilets on the route. I was gagging for a wee half way round. I know St Marys street is a dive but i'm classy.

I heard a lot of runners, especially club runners moaning on the Itchen bridge about walkers and keeping to the left. Like a lot of runners I didn't know this was a rule. Maybe brief this out to next time?

What was the deal with the free coffee at metrics? Why would I come back the next day to get my free drink? Seems a lot of the bars and restaurants were a bit random in there offers.

I am planning on having a go at the half next year but won't bother with the 10k again.

Really enjoyed the run. I liked the route. Minor point to improve i think would be to change the end so you don't run through the park next to Oxford Street, as all races murging made out a bit congested and confusing. But i really liked going through at Mary's and the weather help make it something i will remember so a long time.

The route this year was good. The downside to this was were the half meet the 10K runners over the bridge section. Personally I believe that was a disaster and also alot of the half runners after the race were saying the same thing. You had to try and wieve through the 10K runners over the bridge and to be honest it was the slow 10K rinners so they were either walking or jist jogging. This was personally very annoying as being at mile 10 and 11 for the half you are in the last section and trying to push the pace to finish to to meet a massive group of slow runners to get past was annoying. To be honest most of the bridge section you were trying to run near the cones as possible to get past them but that meant you were facing the other half runners on theor way back over the bridge or vice versa. I did get a pb this year and was extremely happy with it bit feel I may have done slightly better had there been a seperate lane on the bridge section for the half runners to seperate the two races completely. This is my third year of running the half marathon - I preferred doing the Itchem Bridge earlier in the race but that is just my preference as I hat hills!!

Great day, start was a bit confusing perhaps use of barrier pens would be needed. Great support along the whole way and excellent marshalling.

Really enjoyed the race, preferred the route than previous years. The only issue was the merging of the races just before the bridge. You had 6/7 minute mile runners suddenly running with thousands of slower 10k runners. This cause quite a dangerous situation on the bridge. A change in start times may solve this.

Had an amazing day. Loved all the cheering. The course was much better this way round (with the exception of Itchen Bridge at mile 10). Jaffa cakes for finishers would make me happy. The photo I've tried to add is at the start with my running partner and my mum, but I can't figure out how to add it

I thought it was well organised and put together. I had a mistake with my number but it was picked up, fixed and then rectified with no hassle or stress.

The mass start was disorganised. I started at the 2 hour target marker and finished in 1 hour 56 (hence started at roughly the correct point) however according to my finish statistics I overtook more than 1000 people (out of 3000 ish starters)!!! Starting pens for different abilities and/or different coloured numbers are badly needed!

The finish line was disorganised. VERY cramped area due to lack of incentive or space to move out of the way.

Generally a good event but it was VERY apparent this is event is in its infancy - organisers should take a visit to some other events such as the Edinburgh Marathon Festival - very similar type of event but 10 times better organised!
