My first marathon and i completed it so i would say it was successful! Bit annoying having to do two laps of the route but i can understand why it is organised like that. Well done to all organisers. I actually enjoyed the day and love the goodies at the end. I will be back next year to get the 10k medal and then i will have the full set!

The organisation and support were excellent. Fantastic cheering fans all round the route well done and a big thank you to all involved.
My only gripe was the course being reversed. For some reason, and it was probably the sunshine, I ran 8 minutes slower than the two previous years. The Itchen Bridge, instead of being a fun highlight, was an uphill slog. I'd say it comes to late in the race now.
Also, it seems such a shame that St Mary's Stadium is so empty. I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason, but wouldn't it be brilliant if it could be filled with cheering kids (maybe one stand?)

Very well organised, good atmosphere, spectators were great and marshalls were excellent! The start/finish/village location in city centre with nearby ample parking, shops, cafes, etc. is great for supporters. Recommended!

The organisation and atmosphere were really good, and the course was scenic for a city, the support was great. However, as I was running the marathon, after about 2 hours i had to run through the back of the half marathon field. In places the course was just too narrow and halfers did not leave enough space for me to pass. I had to weave a lot and i reckon this cost me about a minute overall. I finished in 2:58. Marshals were shouting to halfers to keep left but they weren't everywhere and lots of people were'nt expecting the marathoners to come up behind them.
I would like to do this event again, but only if the above issue is sorted. If you want to attract the more serious and faster runners i think it would be worth considering this. Also, the course has 240m of hills, not too much, but a reduction in this would also attract serious runners and give more chance of a PB. London has about 120m of hills.

It was a well organised race though perhaps a bit more hilly than I expected. My only negative comment is that from the Itchen Bridge section onwards there were a lot of slow 10k runners blocking the route for faster runners. The final bit through the park was very tight and cost a bit of time - maybe the start timings could be a bit more staggered between the different distances? Very good t shirt and medal & loved the alcohol free pint at the end. Will definitely run next year!

Great event with support throughout from the community. Just sorry we only got water while running and signage didn't seem to be every mile. Last time I ran we got lucozade and energy gels. Love my shirt! And the medal is great too.

I thought the race was excellently organised and cannot fault it. It all went extremely smoothly, there were enough stewards in all the right places although because it was a hot day we could have done with maybe just one more water station. If it had been a colder day then the water stations would have been more than adequate. The atmosphere with the local supporters was great.
