I bought this as a special gift for a young woman going to seminary with a note that I will pray for her. She loved it and said she will pray for me too.

The Scent of Holiness: Lessons from a Women's Monastery
This book was wonderful. I couldn't put it down it was just so interesting to read and I learned a lot from it. There is so much we can learn from women monastics. There are many lessons I learned that I try to use in my daily life. This is a very good book it is worth reading.

The Religion of the Apostles: Orthodox Christianity in the First Century
I’m a priest and instantly I organized a book study to study it. It is to be a foundational read for our adult catechism.

Little Lost Nun
From Anna-Maria, age 10:
Little Lost Nun is a book about feelings, actions and prayers. You can see how what the characters do relates to their feelings, and relates to what their personal experiences were and are in life.
It makes me think more about my actions and forgiving people who have done something wrong. It makes me think about how prayers can be answered. God hears them but you can't always tell that they are being answered.
The story is misty. You don't know what's going to happen next. At the same time the story is bold. All the characters are different from each other and I can imagine them very clearly.
It's a really good book. I like it. At the end I turned the page to see if there was more. I was hoping there was.

Nine Deer and Me (board book)
This book is just beautiful! The text is such a pleasure to read, with sophisticated vocab and musical rhythm but still age-appropriate for a read aloud with your littlest book lovers. ("Honeybees drank from the sweet woodland flowers. The breeze sang a hymn in the sheltering leaves.") Young children will love to count along on each page with the journey of Saint Abigail--who was new to me. Plus, Amandine Wanert is one of my favorite illustrators! Her use of color and whimsy bring this sweet tale to life.

Little Lost Nun
This is a beautiful little book! You can easily read it in one sitting, and then share it with a child in your life! In a time when our hearts are so hard, this little story helps to chip away at our apathy and bring us to remembrance of God and all that is good. A wonderful introduction to Orthodox monasticism and would be enjoyable for children/adults outside of our Faith too. The story is relatable in our day and age, yet full of hope. You need to add this book to your library and your church’s library!

005365 Three-bar Cross with corpus, sterling silver, medium, chain included
I've had this cross for several years. It has no clasp, but it has a long chain. It is extremely sturdy, and I've never had problems with breakage in the chain or other links as I have with other crosses. Ages well.

The Religion of the Apostles: Orthodox Christianity in the First Century
Father Stephen De Young, whom I've come to learn about through the Lord of Spirits podcast, is brilliant. This book teaches us how to see with the mind of the Apostles, which has become increasingly difficult in the contemporary world.

Children’s Prayer Book
I love this beautiful prayer book for children ! It is just a good size for little hands and has an excellent selection of prayers. I totally love the artwork. The colors are bright and the figures simplistic and I think appealing to children and at the same time there is a lovely depth to them.

Nine Deer and Me (board book)
Nine Deer & Me tells the story of a girl who prays to God for help to find her true home. She is visited by an angel who sends her on a journey to do just that. This story is a beautiful one because it shows clearly the power and clarity of a simple and honest faith in God. The vivid and colorful illustrations work well with the story to communicate to the reader the results of a faith in God expressed through prayer and dependence on God to reveal His will. This delightful book is a new favorite for my granddaughter. It is also a sturdy board book which includes 1-10 counting in the text of the story, repeated again beautifully at the end of the book.

Nine Deer and Me (board book)
Abigail goes on a journey to find her true home after a visit from an angel. Readers can count along with Abigail as the story unfolds. The perfectly sized board book has illustrations that are playful, beautiful, and full of life. My 2 year old enjoyed finding and counting the objects, and my 7 year old was interested to hear more about St. Abigail and her bees. I will definitely be ordering copies for our parish bookstore.
