A perfect Mother's Day gift!

Great quality and it doesn’t get hot very much.

“We Pray,” written by Daniel Opperwall and illustrated by Jelena and Marko Grbic is no ordinary nonfiction book! It is a beautiful Orthodox Christian children’s book that helps children (and those reading to/with them) think about prayer. Each spread of the book talks about a different aspect of prayer and includes some of the basic theology behind that aspect. Some pages offer specific prayers that we can pray, along with ways in which we pray (with incense, with a prayer rope, etc.). Other pages talk about where we pray, how we pray, what we pray, and for whom we pray. “We Pray” may be an informational book, but it is not at all tedious. Instead, the book has an almost lyrical tone, so the spiritual instruction in “We Pray” is both approachable and enjoyable. “We Pray” is an excellent addition to any Orthodox Christian library. Its readers will learn about prayer and be encouraged to pray more fervently. Its size and darling illustrations will appeal to children of all ages.

I gave this as a gift to my daughter. During this pandemic she was interested in having the services accessible. I already own one and it is indispensable to follow along. It brings a better understanding of the beautiful And meaningful Holy Week services.

It was a present to my mom. She loves it and wears it everyday!

I haven't tried any recipes yet, but I felt wonderful to have something about traditions and practices in our Faith.

I felt rich in spiritual things

This is a beautiful book in which to record what you are grateful for or just experiences. Not expected to be lengthy, just what you would like to remember.

Thank you! I loved it.

I am just getting started reading the desert fathers and this book was recommended to me as a great starter book. I am currently reading and am blessed by the depth yet simplicity of these ancient desert fathers. I have already experienced the power of the Jesus prayer in my life and love the easy read of the book with its powerful suggestions on how to bring desert spirituality into everyday life.

Very helpful and comforting

Apostle to the plains is a detailed account of the life and times of Father Nicola Yanney, an Orthodox immigrant to the United states in the late 1800’s. I have listened to this audiobook four times and each time I am struck with a new depth of understanding in his continuous work towards the cross. His life was chock full of tragedy, hard work, and an unrelenting schedule.

How does one man almost single-handedly keep Orthodoxy alive in such a vast expanse like the Midwest. From Alabama to North Dakota, Colorado to the Mississippi River, he touched so many lives through the sacraments.

But it was his selflessness that strikes my heart. His willingness to be the chosen man to leave his Nebraska farm to become the great missionary to the Orthodox people. He lived a complicated life of schedules between our naturally complicated church calendar and the logistics of serving so many over an expanse I can barely wrap my head around. He managed to grow many churches among the Orthodox that still stand today in his fourteen years of missionary work.

Every year we take a trip to the western states I have been struck at the number of small Orthodox parishes dotted around the countryside. Now I know this was part of the great work of Father Nicola Yanney and our Father in Heaven providing for His people.

Very helpful for Holy Week

Very informative. Enhanced my own faith with a better understanding in the roots of my faith

Excellent study tool for any christian. I recommend to anyone who asks.

Have not finished, but what I have been reading is astounding. This is a very precious subject, a subject that should be known by the whole church. Very few I have known teach the subject the way this precious man does. He strips the subject of all religion and tradition as well as false ideology and lays out the simple, naked facts, done with grace and salt to make you thirsty. This is a must for any theologian who wants to "DIG" deeper into the work of the cross.

Elizabeth Crispina Johnson has written a delightful book that gently walks the reader through the process of prayer and through the life of a beeswax candle, created to accompany prayer. Amandine Wanert’s playful illustrations bring to life the swaying flowers, buzzing bees, singing nun, and dancing Felicia in this story. Readers will relish the peace that they feel as they read their way from the gleeful buzz of sunny fields to the serenity of prayer in church.

I am reading it again, and I find this to be one of the best resources for understanding angels.
Thank you so much, this is truly a must read book for all who want to really know the angels and the church and our faith.

great bible had one before gave it to a freind needed one for me

This prayer book is great for Orthodox Christians. It has daily prayers, communion prayers, and even specific Saints' prayers. This will help you establish your prayer rule at home or with a group. This prayer book does not appear to belong to one ethnic or cultural group, so it's good for any English reading Orthodoxs anywhere. Highly recommended
