The Orthodox Study Bible, Ancient Faith Edition, Leathersoft: Ancient Christianity Speaks to Today’s World
I love the way we can read from the New Testament and get an accurate cross references from the Old Testament Septuagint, which the early church quoted from.

A Journal of Thanksgiving: Record Three Years of Gratitude in a Sentence a Day
This is the book I never knew I needed! Gratitude journaling has been a bit of a buzzword lately, something trendy to do, but I was never really on board. I've never been able to keep a journal for more than a few days, and wasn't sure if I could do this. Let me tell you, it is a wonderful evening ritual, and so needed, especially in these uncertain times we live in! I have been doing this for almost a month now, and actually look forward to sitting and reflecting on my day and writing what I am grateful for. I love that there are only a few lines to write in, that takes the pressure off of me to feel like I have to write something long and profound. It's simple, but effective. I also really like that there is space to record three years worth of gratitude. I look forward to reviewing it as the years pass, and seeing what ways God has worked in my life, and just how much I have to be thankful for. I love that there are quotes from prayers, psalms, and saints at the top of each page. I like that there are prompts at the end of the book, in case you are feeling like there is absolutely nothing to be thankful for. And I love that doing this shifts my focus, to end the day on a positive note, thinking of the good, and not ending in negativity or complaining. I highly recommend this book for everyone to try, and to add a little more gratitude and thankfulness to your day!

Words for Our Time: The Spiritual Words of Matthew the Poor
You know youre reading a good book worthy of your time when you underline every sentence on the first page because the words contained therein make your heart squeeze so tight you can barely stand it. In this translation of Abba Matta el-Meskeens informal talks with his spiritual children and visitors of his monastery, James Helmy captures the simple, yet deeply profound truths spoken by this holy monk. Abba Matta's deep connection with God through his life of prayer comes through so clearly in the wisdom he shares. The reader easily transcends time to sit at the feet of this great monk and receive the words and love God has given him to share. Though they were uttered after World War 2, they are no less applicable to today and the difficulties of this millennium. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Words for Our Time: The Spiritual Words of Matthew the Poor
How do I even begin to put into words my thoughts on a book so steeped in Holy Wisdom that I should only hope to internalize even a fraction of it? This is a true spiritual treasure- a work meant to be contemplated over the course of a lifetime, such is its richness. Not only are the words of Father Matta "for our time", but they surpass time and apply to mankind universally. His message offers both joy and challenge for the believer. This book is comprised of a collection of talks Father Matta delivered to his flock over the course of his ministry. "All I know how to do is to deliver to you what I have lived", and this he does indeed, with an astonishingly deep and intimate knowledge of Christ Himself in his reflections on faith, doctrine, scripture, and salvation. Although the book is divided into four parts (Spirituality, Christian Living, On Scripture, and On Feasts and Fasts), for father Matta there is no real division or compartmentalization of these topics. Every thought he expresses is steeped in both personal and divine wisdom. His stories are alive, animated, and Spirit-filled. his every word imbued with hope and encouragement, as well as strength and rebuke when necessary. What struck me the most was Abba Matta's deep and thorough knowledge of scripture and how he so seamlessly wove it into his lessons. Clearly the Word of God was written in the elder's heart for such wisdom to come from his mouth. To study and explore his scriptural references alone could take the reader a lifetime, there is so much depth of study and contemplation. It is no wonder that Abba Matta is considered by many to have been the greatest desert elder of our time. I cannot recommend this work enough for anyone hoping to one day see Christ, be consumed by His light, and to be like Him, as was Father Matta's hope- the very reason this book is offered to the world today.

A Journal of Thanksgiving: Record Three Years of Gratitude in a Sentence a Day
This Journal arrived right at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic's entry into our state. Putting in an entry each day has helped me weave the practice of gratitude into my daily routine. The discipline of thinking each day about what I am thankful for, has been nourishing and uplifting.

A great Guide to Divine Liturgy
Come, Let Us Worship: A Practical Guide to the Divine Liturgy for Orthodox Laity
Come, Let Us Worship is definitely a book every Orthodox Christian should have on their shelf, especially if you have children. I started incorporating this book in my 7 year old son's homeschool catechism class. We have both absolutely loved it. It breaks down the liturgy into easy to read sections and thorough explanations of the Divine Liturgy. My son even brought this book to church with him a few times to try to follow along and get a deeper understanding of what is going on. I will say that this book is NOT an easy read for a child at all. I have had to read this book to my son and explain. However, it has helped me with giving my son accurate explanations. Being born into the faith I learned SO much from this book. There are several appendices that explain preparation for Holy Communion, Laymen entering and serving in the Holy Altar, Vespers and Orthos, and a very thorough glossary of religious words. I highly suggest this book for all Orthodox Christians from children to adults and no matter how long you have been with the Faith.

A Journal of Thanksgiving: Record Three Years of Gratitude in a Sentence a Day
I have practiced gratitude journaling off and on for the past couple of years. I have found that keeping it short and sweet works best for me. I was looking for something that aligned with my Christian faith (especially from an Eastern Orthodox perspective) to help me along the way. I will say this book has been a blessing, especially since I began it the first week of March, 2020. Only God knew what was to transpire in our lives over the next few weeks! The book is unique in its departure from what our current culture seems to view as giving thanks. We are encouraged to follow the exhortation of Scripture, which tells us that not only are we to give thanks for the seemingly "good things," but also the challenges life may bring. In her introduction, Dr. Roccas says, "In learning to give thanks in this fashion, it's perhaps a comfort that the Bible does not command us to be thankful so much as to give thanks. Thanksgiving is first and foremost an action and a choice, not a feeling we must conjure up." I really appreciate the Scriptures and quotes from the Saints that are provided for each day. My personal practice has been to write in the journal right before going to sleep at night. It is a perfect way to end my day and meditate on God's blessings before falling asleep. One of the best parts is that it provides a way to journal for three years (one page for each day of the year, with three spaces to write per page). Each day, after the first year, the reader can see what he or she was praising God for in the previous year. In summary, this is a book I would highly recommend to busy Christians who are feeling like life can become overwhelming and mundane at times. The blessings in this small action, I am confident, will bear fruit in the lives of those who commit to it.

A Song in the Furnace: The Message of the Book of Daniel
A Song In The Furnace is a great easy read for anyone looking to connect with the Old Testament book of Daniel. The author makes it easy to distinguish between languages and resources while streamlining and explaining the events that happened and the meaning with them. I really have never felt like reading the Old Testament was an easy thing, but he really makes it so easy to understand! I was excited to see that Lawrence Farley has written several other books that I will for sure be looking to read in the near future.

Come, Let Us Worship: A Practical Guide to the Divine Liturgy for Orthodox Laity
This book is a keeper, a book that I would do well to read again with my growing children. I am the first to admit that there is much that I can still learn from the Orthodox Church and her services, even as I approach the 11th anniversary of my baptism. Come, Let Us Worship proved to be not only a wonderful refresher on some of the traditions and Tradition of the Orthodox Divine Liturgy, but also served as an introduction to various elements of the Liturgy that previously I did not know. I wish that I had had this book earlier in my journey, but am glad to have it now as a reference if only because it helps me to be aware of areas of instruction that I can share with my children in hopes of helping them more fully experience and participate in the service. I heartily recommend this little book, a quick read, to anyone who is a member of the laity, who is either new to Eastern Orthodoxy, old to Eastern Orthodoxy, or merely wants to know more about the structure of the Divine Liturgy.

A Song in the Furnace: The Message of the Book of Daniel
The book is a biblical commentary of the book of Daniel. The recurring theme in the book is how God delivers His faithful servants in the midst of trouble and adversity. Beautifully written and the author focuses the reader on the spiritual dimension rather than the academic study. It is also a great interpretation for the apocalyptic visions of Daniel. It is a great book for those who want to experience the scriptures at a deeper level. Also, it is an excellent orthodox resource for bible study and those who are entrusted with teaching the scriptures.

A Child’s Guide to Prayer
A Child’s Guide to Prayer has quickly become one of our family’s go-to “little church” tools. The illustrations are wonderful—a mixture of whimsical animals along with colorful and inviting church- themed pictures. The beautiful prayers are concise and easy to understand, while also being thorough, and they keep the attention of all of our busy kids (ages 4,6, and 8). This would be the perfect gift for a god-child, or in a Pascha basket. I can not recommend this prayer book enough
