Spyridon's Shoes
Spyridon's Shoes beautifully articulates our relationship with the saints! Too often children feel alone in their spiritual life and struggles in their schools. They feel like they are the odd ones out, living a life radically different than their peers (loneliness can make life really difficult for our youth). This book shines a light into the hearts of its readers reminding and teaching that we have connection with another world. We are not alone! We have a real relationship with the saints who have gone through all we have gone through (and they desire to help us)! Spyridon's Shoes shows us that the saints are not beyond us, but rather desire to join in our struggles, victories, joys and sorrows. They are with us and a great comfort and aid in our lives. I highly recommend this book, especially for children struggling with loneliness! May St. Spyridon continue to intercede for us and guide our youth!

Everyday Wonders: Stories of God’s Providence
Everyday Wonders - Stories of God's Providence, written by Fr Michael Oleska, is a gem. This collection of vignettes, read by Fr. Michael himself in the audio version, are heartwarming and inspiring. As he tells the stories of his early years as a young priest in Alaska and of his adventures traveling to eastern Europe in search of his family roots, you feel as though you are sitting with him, his eyes twinkling and the smile on his face as he recalls people and events.
From the miracle of Three Saints Orthodox Church in Kodiak being spared by a tsunami, his early years learning the ways of life in Alaska, wondrous stories of blessed Mother Olga, and candid memories of his travels and discovery of the home villages of his grandparents, you experience his belief in "Nothing happens by accident. God is much more in charge than we know." As we listen / read we smile, laugh, and shed a tear or two along with him. His anecdotal stories of faith, trust in the Lord, and the love and kindness found in the most surprising circumstances, leave you feeling content at the end.
While the audio version is not perfectly recorded, the emotion, humor, and wonder you can hear in Fr. Michael's voice makes up for it.
I loved getting a glimpse into the history of the Orthodox church in Alaska, as well as the Native Alaskan culture. Everyday Wonders is an enjoyable book!

The Orthodox Study Bible, Ancient Faith Edition, Leathersoft: Ancient Christianity Speaks to Today’s World
The most attractive thing about this bible is having all the books in a readable language in one cover to cover. It is not perfect but overall I think they have done a great job. I now use it as my main general read bible.

Akathist to Saint Mary of Egypt
I was interested in this Akathist as St Mary of Egypt is my patron saint. Bev Cooke writes of seeing St Mary as an intercessor for those who have suffered or perpetrated and repented of sexual abuse. She emphasizes the hunger, longing, and "lovesick" heart of the woman who was snared by her desires. I found my love of this powerful ascetic saint reawakened in descriptions of her uncompromising search for God in the desert. It is a beautiful devotional, sure to touch many people who are drawn to this Saint.

Another Solid Book from Fr. Damick
An Introduction to God: Encountering the Divine in Orthodox Christianity
This book is written from an Orthodox perspective, but is directed towards non-Orthodox and Orthodox enquirers alike. In this book you will find Andrew Damick explicate clearly the truths of the Triune God according to a proper, Orthodox Christian perspective. It is written without polemics or partisanship, and is a solid read for those looking to learn more about Orthodox theology.

It's a little prayer book, but in it there is a dense amount of beautiful, soul-inspiring prayers that will help you see God. I recommend 100%. :)

Anthony, the Great
Perfect for the older preschool/young elementary set, this beautifully illustrated book gives children a shining, real life example of *lived* Orthodoxy. Anthony, the four-year old protagonist, struggles with struggling -- what a soundly Orthodox theme! While it could be argued that the prose is a bit more "wordy" than it needs to be, all in all this is a theologically solid and well-done book. If you're looking for a children's book to help model the struggle of attaining theosis in everyday life, this is it!

Akathist to Saint Mary of Egypt
Very, very powerful account of Mary's life.
The Introduction alone had an impact on me.
Brings back memories of similar situations with friends and families who endured abuses in post war Germany and beyond.
Can you imagine if we, Orthodox Christians, held this service and some visitors would come in,they would walk out
probably saying what are these people praying about?

Anthony, the Great
“Anthony, the Great”, by Deacon John Sarantakis is a witty, silly, and wonderfully illustrated story of Orthodoxy in real life. Anthony, the four-year-old best bud to Dino Adventurer pal Mikey, uses the simple yet profound power of imitating the Saints in order to learn and grow through everyday life. When Anthony needs help cleaning his bedroom or eating his Brussels Sprouts, he recalls how his patron, Saint Anthony the Great, struggled greatly to “no longer fear God, but love Him.”
This beautiful story shows how we can grow to love God, and love our neighbor, through a little struggle. The illustrations are sweet, inviting, and engaging, and the way Deacon John has written the story makes the application of ascetic struggle, necessary to all Orthodox Christians old and young, easy for children to grasp. “Anthony, the Great” is a great book for children to enjoy, and a fantastic tool for Orthodox parents to help their children put their lived experience into words.

The Orthodox Study Bible, Ancient Faith Edition, Leathersoft: Ancient Christianity Speaks to Today’s World
I love is edition of the Scriptures, but for someone, like me , who is an enquirer, is there some sort of tutorial for those of us who have been accustomed to 39 books in the Old Testament to 55 books. In this regard life has gotten very confusing.

Anthony, the Great
Anthony, the Great is our kids’ new favorite Orthodox book. The author does a wonderful job of keeping the story playful, yet meaningful. She incorporates everyday kid “things (such as not wanting to clean their room, or eat Brussels sprouts) along with themes such as: loving God, and looking to God and the saints when we are struggling. The illustrations are so beautiful and fun. My kids loved the story and it kept their attention well. Highly recommend and hope that more Orthodox Children’s literature of this caliber will keep coming.
