From I-ville to You-ville
This is an excellent book for elementary age children and even adults can learn from it. I have read it aloud to my children more than once -- it's becoming an annual tradition; the kids love it. It simplifies the teachings of St. Paisios and the interior journey all Christians are called to pursue. It has become a daily reminder for all of us to try to be in "You-ville."

The paper isn’t too thin, and font size is very readable. I do wish the notes were more extensive.

Today My Priest Wears White (board book)
Today My Priest Wears White is such a beautiful little book to have a part of your child’s Orthodox library. When I received the book in the mail, I couldn’t wait to read it with my children. My 4-year-old has been quite inquisitive lately about why the priest wears white, and other colors during church services and holidays. The rhyming format makes it fun to read along and the illustrations are colorful and vibrant. There is also a brief description and explanation at the end of the book of why clergy wear vestments and how they came to be historically and continue to be an essential part of our Church.
It is small enough to take along to church to keep little ones occupied, but can also make connections to what they see in the illustrations and what they see during Divine Liturgy and other services. I would recommend this book for ages 4 and up, but my young toddler also enjoys looking through it as well and the whole family can learn together of what colors signify different holidays and services in the church and the Liturgical Calendar.

I love the explanation of the symbolism in the colors and the days of celebration. My kids had asked me before, but I had no real answer, this helped both myself and them to understand the deeper meaning behind everything we take part in we when attending service.

The Age of Utopia: Christendom from the Renaissance to the Russian Revolution
This book, in continuation of the prior books in this series, are extremely important to understand the background we all share because of the society/civilization we live in today. The author explains the underlying presuppositions that need to be overcome when one joins the Orthodox Church, or simply to understand how the Orthodox are different. This work explains where society is, so we can discard what is not beneficial to our salvation.

I purchased this prayer rope as a replacement for my woolen one, whom my cat decided was a good toy for her. The wooden prayer rope keeps kitty away from it. I use it at night with my daily prayers.

Holy Fools: The Lives of Twenty Fools for Christ
Good general overview of various “Fools for Christ”. Some of the things these Saints did left me very surprised! Thinking back, the introduction to the book was spot on in describing the stories you will be reading with how “outrageous” some of the Saints’ actions were! Overall, I recommend reading this book to anyone who would like to have an easy, quick overview of unique Saints of the Church.

Holy Fools: The Lives of Twenty Fools for Christ
Got this for Christmas! I love the stories of holy fools, but always have trouble remembering them since they're scattered through the church calendar. Having a collection of 20 of them is wonderful! A clear and helpful dive into this very unique podvig of the saints.

Today My Priest Wears White (board book)
Today My Priest Wears White is a welcome addition to the Orthodox board book space! Author Laura Pavlik and Illustrator Irina Francis have created a wonderful book for our little ones, explaining what the different vestment colors mean and why priests wear them at different times in the liturgical year. The information is presented in charming verse that is not sing-songy nor cloying, but maintains a steady cadence which kids will love. Gorgeous full-color illustrations grace each page, not too cartoonish, but wonderfully detailed and respectful. Most of the vestments represented are of the high-backed Russian style, but members of other jurisdictions will also certainly appreciate the amount of care that went into this little book. The volume is sturdy enough to take a beating from a toddler, so, no worries, fellow Moms! I highly recommend it.

Today My Priest Wears White (board book)
What a sweet gem of a book! My 4 year old loved it (so did I!) The illustrations are sweet, and I really liked the more in depth explanations at the back of the book, which make it more appropriate for older children as well. and I love how inclusive it is! Also my husband (who is an Orthodox priest) likes how they start with light/dark vestments then go more in depth with the colors. Overall highly recommend!

Today My Priest Wears White (board book)
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review. I was very pleased with this book. It's a short, beautiful board book written in rhyme. It gives a brief introduction to the liturgical colors and has some extra information on liturgical colors in the back. My nearly 2yo has chosen it from a basket of church books multiple times, and I expect he will continue to take this book to church frequently. He especially enjoys this book. It's a great introduction for kids who are starting to notice the color changes in the church. In addition, I was pleasantly surprised to find the priests and children depicted in the book come from a variety of racial backgrounds. So many Orthodox books don't represent the fullness of the church, but this book is a step in the right direction. Similarly there is some variation in how different Orthodox traditions use the liturgical colors. These variations are minor, and it would be easy for the book to not accurately represent any particular parish. This book is general enough that it's unlikely to be inaccurate for any tradition (Slavic, Greek, etc.). Finally, for parishes with a Catechism of the Good Shepherd Atrium, this could be a nice addition to the liturgical colors work, and for parishes without CGS, it would be a short, sweet, and informative book for church school.

The Mountain of Silence: A Search for Orthodox Spirituality
Wonderful book. Chronicles a series of conversations between a somewhat skeptical Orthodox Christian sociologist and Metropolitan Athanasios of Cyprus (pseudonym is Father Maximos). Topics within the faith are wide ranging and there are many great stories told throughout the conversation, including of Saint Paisios, Saint Silouan and Elder Ephraim.
