Everything that I could want, and more, from a prayer book!

Often I find myself in need of remembrance of our Lord and His Mother, especially when driving. Searching for a beautiful icon for the car that could be displayed appropriately and securely was a challenge. This icon is perfect! Formed of golden metal with a white enamel background, this has a substantial clip on the back which will securely hold the icon onto a thick visor.

Great book, not just for teens but great for adults. We used this book as a book study led by our priest. Very helpful to understand all the parts of the liturgy, the meaning behind the parts of the liturgy, symbolism and the spiritual, heavenly realm and how it participates in the divine liturgy with us.

I thought the icon was exquisite and felt really drawn to it.

"Journey to Reality" is unique in that it presents a view of sacramental theology with very little theological knowledge required to read. The book presents a foundational view of who God is in terms of the idea of the "arche", the Creator and source of all, and our relation to Him. From there, the book gives a sacramental argument for our need for God. To add to this, the book does a wonderful job of arguing for a third type of knowledge besides objective and subjective, namely, participatory knowledge, which is precisely the type of knowledge we encounter in the sacraments. The book is relatively short but gives a strong framework to understand why the sacraments are so vitally important, rather than just a cute metaphor used in by-gone days. While written by an Orthodox writer, all branches of Christianity would find it useful.

Father James Bernsteins book, Surprised by Christ, is an inspiration of beauty and love. It is heartfelt and sincere, and I wholeheartedly, recommend reading or listening to it. Listening to the audio version is such a special treat as he reads it himself and it is laced with his humor, New York accent, and love. Fr. James has since left this earthly life, but he leaves behind a beautiful legacy of unwavering love for Christ.

Every once in awhile, you read a book that suddenly pulls together something you've been picking up in bits and pieces here and there for months or even years. There's the idea - in focus and succinct, well-stated and easy to share with others. This is one of those books. I was drawn to the sacramental nature of the Orthodox church over 20 years ago, but I had a hard time verbalizing the appeal to those who were from similar religious upbringings to mine. Years of participation in the "embodied" services of the church and study of literature and history helped me pick up on bits and pieces of the ancient worldview that helped form ancient Christianity and how different it is from the Western postmodern mindset, but I still had something more like an unassembled puzzle of all those pieces. I really feel like this book is the top of the box of the puzzle I was missing!

I took a couple of weeks to listen to the audio version of this book, and ever since, I find myself recommending it to people left and right - be they Orthodox Christians or protestants, people looking for a way out of the entrenched materialist mindset or those who don't even know what it is. This book will have something for all of those kinds of people. I recommended it to a priest, particularly the section on marriage as a sacrament. I think it would be useful for a parish to do as a book study, especially because it would give everyone a common language to talk about what we believe.

The audio version does have some quality issues - it seems like the narrator recorded in perhaps different locations or with different equipment from time to time. None of these issues make it hard to hear or understand, but it doesn't have a consistent sound throughout. It's still worth buying if it means you'll get all the way through the book (I know I'm much more likely to finish audiobooks than books in print). Now that I've listened to it, I also want a print copy so I can easily go back and review parts of it from time to time. Do yourself a favor and read it soon!

Very good quality, just what I was looking for

First half was interesting on what orthodoxy means and the mindset phronema of orthodoxy. Pretty good but probably can be gotten by any orthodoxy book.

The 2nd half i didnt care for. Multiple chapters and 1,001 ways of saying how your not qualified to theologize.

Repetitive single point thats drawn out.
1. She is qualified to theologize bc she has a phd
2.Even Bishops were told not to theologize by old fathers.
3. Youre not a bishop or a phd student so dont.
4. Trust the experts

I got it, 6 chapters could have been reduced to 1. Have humility and tell ppl its a question you you ask the father of the perish.

I like orthodoxy and i accept you probably shouldnt act as a representative on orthodoxy if your new but i dont care for this book and the i have a phd, im an expert take to literally 1/2 the book.

It’s great, just bought this one for a grandson, all the kids get one when they’re able to use it wether they read it or not!

I enjoyed reading it. I learn a lot about Orthodox and I think many Protestant should read this book if they're serious about converting To Orthodox. I definitely recommend it to new Orthodox Christians too.

In this little calendar you have everything at your fingertips — much like one stop shopping! I love its compact size , which makes it convenient to travel with!

The cross was nice, but the chain was much smaller than expected. For men, it fits way too tight around the neck. I had to purchase a longer chain and move the cross over to it

I purchased this for a baby shower gift. The parents-to-be were so pleased. The pages have vivid pictures, the print is clear, and each story is accurate.

Ive learned of Saints Eustathius and Katherine only through these graphic novels, and was pleased with the presentation of their lives. Saint Moses I’ve heard of before, and seeing the portrayal of his story in graphic novel format (somewhat comical), is different from having only read about his life and his sayings. Also some Troparia’s in back and Life of Saint information in back.
