This book took me by surprise. I had not read either of the two previous volumes by Fr. Siniari, so I had little frame of reference and fewer expectations. I had also gotten away from fiction in recent years. All this to say, I was completely unprepared for what I encountered. Initially, I actually struggled with engaging with first story. I found myself reading and re-reading sections, sitting with sense that I was missing something. I wondered if there was something in the first two books that was necessary to fully appreciate this text. Then, almost as I was going to set the book aside, the stories unfolded and connection was made. The depth and layers of these tales are profound and lead one to contemplate mysteries beyond its pages. Fr. Naum is an endearing and beautiful character, approachable in his humanity and admirable in his love. I am so glad I stepped out of my regular reading for this book!

This has been a really great resource for me as far as additional context for the passages goes and the inclusion of multiple books that most Bibles typically leave out really helps get a more rounded picture of Christianity as a whole.

Beautiful book. I love sharing it with my young children

My grandson (10) enjoyed it immensely. Has read it more than once. I haven’t been able to get it from him.

Beautiful prayer book.

This is a standard gift for high school graduates. While it may not get opened in the summer leading up to college, there are some lonely nights away at school that get the spine to crack. We must equip the students with the tools they need for success. This is small enough to be packed along with their standard dorm room fare.

The Psalter is based on the ESV but has been corrected to the Septuagint. It is a pleasure to read out loud or to use in quiet meditation. I really enjoy the page layouts and have come to rely on the Matins and Vespers daily reading order. I am blest every time I use The Ancient Faith Psalter.

Wonderful prayers for my mother with cancer. I’ll be buying more to give out.

Beautiful. Thank you.

It's one of the most popular books in our parish bookshop. A delightful read, engrossing from the start, and introducing the reader not only to monastic spirituality, but also to the spiritual possibilities available for every devout Orthodox person, in a most engaging way. Highly recommended!

It's beautiful and blind naturally with my other Icons hanging on my wall.

A unique way to keep my prayer beads

Beautifully coordinated prayers for all day and every day. I can easily see the words.

It is great for teens & new Christians
It covers issues dealt with today

Great quality icon. Small

Beautifully made coloring book. I’ll be purchasing more for other littles.

A very insightful and inspiring read that provides a clearer view of how an Orthodox Christian can maintain hope and successfully function in a very chaotic world.

I love how it fits into a pocket on my police vest, so I can keep His Word with me always. :) My only complaint is that the paper cover is not more durable or protective of the pages-- it got roughed up pretty easily. Maybe a slightly oversized cardboard cover would be a simple improvement?

Good quality, I like the ribbon bookmarks it comes with. 👍

Oh, how much I have come to love Fr. Naum, the members of St. Alexander the Whirling Dervish Orthodox Church and the community of Fish Town. Bread from Home is the third installment of short stories about this fictional (or maybe it is mystical) parish that sheds insight to all of humanity and the life of the church. From the pilgrimage of Pandi to the heart wrenching love of a daughter and a mother challenged by poverty, immigration, and substance abuse, to two kids whose beloved dog has died, Fr. Naum loves people, his parish, his community through humbleness and prayer. He never claims to have all the answers, he just demonstrates love and faithfulness even while sometimes fighting his own battles. He is all too aware of his human frailty but is always listening for that still small voice.
Each story is a parable of God’s love for mankind and makes me want to be more faithful, more loving and more aware of how often God places us in situations so that we can shine His light in the darkness. I have read AND listened to the audible version of each of these books and listening to Fr. Stephen Siniari narrate these stories is a true treasure. This book is a wonderful read and I highly recommend it.
