Face to Face: Knowing God beyond Our Shame
Watched several of Father's You tube presentations as he was in the preparation phase of this book. Have watched several multiple times; so I was happy when the book came out. Am almost finished but will have to reread. When you and your siblings and mother have been shamed as much as we were, it has taken decades for me to realize how much damage was done.
I wish Father lived closer! I so appreciate his willingness to be vulnerable. I'd love to be able to make trips on an airplane!

Bread from Home: A Collection of Short Stories
“Bread from Home” is a fictional but very believable collection of short stories of an orthodox priest named Fr. Naum of St. Alexander the Whirling Dervish Orthodox Church in an area of North Philadelphia called “Fish Town”. I was surprised at the harshness of many of the situations chronicled in “Bread from Home” since I have never read the other short story collections of Fr. Stephen Siniari. Even so, I was inspired by the beautiful, kind, Christ-like manner in which Fr. Naum handled, at times, and took care of, at other times, the people in these situations. Fr. Siniari’s reading of his stories was on point whether he was narrating with the accent of Philadephia’s “Fish Town” or that of an Albanian American. Father Siniari’s descriptions of people, places, and even food paint a picture so vivid, I felt like I was with those people, in those places and could smell and taste the food described.

At first, I really thought that I wouldn’t like this book and I didn’t really want to hear the sad, scary, depressing situations depicted. But as I pressed on, I soon discovered how much I enjoyed hearing about the humble and Holy Spirit-filled Father Naum. He brought God’s love to all the people in these sad, scary, depressing situations. He brought God’s light into the very dark places that too many people live in. Now, I can hardly wait to read the other collections of short stories that Fr. Siniari wrote.

Despite having a couple of unnecessary political comments here and there, I recommend this book of short stories for the reader who can bear the reality of what some priests experience in their calling and who want to experience how God’s love is shared to others through the gentle Father Naum.

Vigil lamp, 3 inch diameter, no glass well
Lovely!

Decent quality, the brassworks aren't lopsided like some I've seen from other online sellers. The glass well included was a tad loose for the diameter of the lamp's opening, but still quite serviceable; I already had a different glass well which fit it more snugly, so I swapped it out. It looks even more beautiful in person than in the picture!

Also would like to mention how helpful Dawn in customer service was 😊 I accidentally sent it to my old address when ordering. She helped me to rectify the issue, even though the lamp ended up shipping out before they could change the shipping address. Very kind, polite, and patient.

Brilliant argument for Orthodoxy
Orthodoxy and Heterodoxy: Finding the Way to Christ in a Complicated Religious Landscape (2017 edition)
Fr Damick takes the reader on a journey through the history of Christendom, from the Great Schism of the 11th century, on through the different generations of Protestantism, and explains how modern Christianity has very little, if anything at all, in common with the ancient faith of Orthodoxy. Very well researched, and very concise. I'd recommend this book, along with Lossky's book on the Faith, as an excellent starting point for learning about the Ancient Faith.

Mixed Pack of 10 Consolation and Sympathy cards
Quite simply: I finally have Orthodox Christian cards to give. I received a sympathy card the other day, and it had no reference to God. Are we now living in the post-Christian era?

The Sign of the Cross: The Gesture, the Mystery, the History
A blessing to read: The Sign of the Cross brings greater depth of meaning to an everyday practice. It also serves to exhort the reader to begin utilizing the sign far more often in daily life as a prayer and a blessing in all situations where one might find themselves pressed for time.

The Orthodox Study Bible, Ancient Faith Edition, Leathersoft: Ancient Christianity Speaks to Today’s World
I am no translation expert but I mostly liked it. It doesn't read as smoothly and Lexham English Press version of the Sept. but it is a great resource for Orthodox Christians. It's not a great intro to Orthodoxy, or going to teach you anything about the way Orthodox Tradition views scripture. 4 and not 5 because it just seemed realllly lazy that the New Testament is simply the NKJV, which is a fine english translation, one of the better ones, but still one done by a bunch of protestants/anglicans who are all half roman catholic and don't realize it, so of course it leads to some really bad translations that try to force their views about church history, penal substitution, or the Saints or Theotokos back into the text.

The Mystery of the Holy Light
It is an excellent book! Written with both sensitivity and objectivity, with small historical notes for those with inquisitive minds. Interesting not only for children, but also for the adult (which, by CSLewis' opinion, is the criteria for a good book).

Face to Face: Knowing God beyond Our Shame
Excellent! Father Stephen has put into words many thoughts and attitudes that one will encounter in Orthodoxy in the Fathers, in confession, and in the prayer life of the church. This is a must read (or a must listen on Audible). Face to Face teaches a proper understanding of shame, anxiety, and self-concept in a healthy way that allows one to approach God not as a judgemental Stranger, but as a loving Father.

Healing Work: Giving Humanity a Second Chance
I had the blessing of getting to enjoy the audiobook version of this incredible work. Fr. Makoul makes the healing journey practical and accessible even for the most reluctant of readers. Getting the chance to hear his faith based wisdom and advice encouraged me to renew my own personal mental health journey, even beginning therapy again to put in the work to be a better wife, church member and future mother. I highly recommend this work to all faithful Orthodox who want to improve their mental health, and move on from past wounds.
