My son loved it. Hope to see more content like this in the future!

I bought a copy for my grandson and my home. I hope he'll find his way to a true and authentic faith through stories wrought beautifully, as this one is.

Excellently illustrated book on Moses the Black. The book was purchased for an Inner city Catholic School. The students read the book in class and then wrote a report on how his (Moses the Black)story impacted their lives. Very positive response from all participants.

Beautifully drawn with compelling storytelling, this is a great introduction to Saint Moses.

Excellent books

Wonderful

A wonderful children's book explaining each day of Holy week from Palm Sunday. It also includes at the beginning of the book a prologue of the old testament Passover to teach our children the history of Passover and that Jesus Christ and the Pascha feast is a fulfillment of the old testament Passover. As it is a companion to the book "Lent! Wonderful Lent!" I would recommend buying the two books together, to follow through from Lent to Pascha.

A wonderful children's book explaining how we are to prepare ourselves spiritually for lent and an explanation of the sunday's of lent through to Lazarus Saturday and an explanation of the Akathist service to the Holy Theotokos.

The Story of Jesus: A History and Theology of Christ, is a wonderful commentary by Matthew the Poor on the New Testament. Though he had many writings on the subject, this book has been compiled to make a concise and easy to read book for any lay person. The writings do a wonderful job of seamlessly incorporating scripture, theology, exegesis for personal growth, history, and chronology of Christ's life from before his birth to his ascension.

The style of writing was very enjoyable. It was less like reading a study or receiving a lecture and more like having a conversation. The style allowed me to slow down not only the speed at which I read, but also the process of digesting what was written. It also read more like a devotional that focused on contemplation and conversation than a commentary focused on acquisition of understanding. That is not to say one won't learn quite a bit, but the style feels less like a classroom and more like lounging in a living room.

The book states it covers the story of Jesus, but it does more than start at the birth of Christ. Instead it begins with the events that prepared the way for the reception of Christ. He writes on the Old Testament, the spread of Greek culture, the spread of the Roman Empire, and more. He does a wonderful job of speaking about the life of Christ by describing the world he would be born into and interact with throughout his life and ministry.

If you do not own a commentary on the New Testament then this is a great place to start. Even if you already have a commentary, the readability and relaxed style make this a great addition to anyone's home library.

Sands of Salvation by Gabriel Wilson, is the third in a series of graphic novels highlighting captivating stories about saints of the Orthodox Church. This particular book introduces St. Moses the Strong (also known as “St. Moses the Black, St. Moses the Ethiopian or Abba Moses”) to readers who may not know the powerful story of his conversion and martyrdom. The illustrations tell the story so well that in several places there is minimal dialogue or explanatory text. I did find that I had to search through the book a second time to see if and where Christ was mentioned in the story and not just implied - that came toward the end of the book. There is a lot of implied faith and it was good to see the name of Christ mentioned.

Our whole family has enjoyed reading each of the Among the Saints books as they've come out (this is the first of this series that we've been granted a copy of in exchange for a review). Sands of Salvation follows the previous two with the same quality and ease of storytelling as the ones before.

The following are quotes from three of my family members about this book:

“I think it was really good because he repented, and I want to read more books like this. My favorite page was the one with the armies in the sky. It’s a good story - sad, but good.” 11year old

“I thought it had a pretty good storyline and everything was explained really well. The artwork was nice and went well with the story. I liked the pages with the armies in the sky.” 14 year old

“This is an engaging, approachable way to learn about the history of saints. It is more memorable when presented in this format. I thought it was interesting.” 40 year old

The appeal of this and of Mr. Wilson’s other books make them excellent as gifts, particularly to the middle and high school crowds, and they are books that parents will appreciate as well.

My kids read and re-read and re-read this book. They loved it. It did such a great job of showing the path of St Moses. Can't recommend it enough.

Beautiful reminder of our lord while traveling. I sometimes get easily frustrated on the road so looking up at this cross and saying a quick prayer definitely helps

Incoherent rambling on an important subject

Great book!!!!!

very pog

My kids love it! Me too :)

Nice and big, well made

I loved this book. Again, Gabriel Wilson has done an amazing job telling the story of an inspirational saint. It was beautifully illustrated. I really appreciate that the story is faithfully told, but not in a way that is inappropriate or overwhelming to children. I am a bit cautious about letting my five-year-old look through the pictures because it does have potentially unsettling drawings of demons. However, I do love that it introduces the topic though because I think it’s important to start talking about it even with children.

Not bad, not great. The lid and base did not fit together well when closed. With some careful bending of the hinge, I got a better fit, but not perfect. Was hoping for something a little better made than this.

Excellent!
Everyone should read this book!
