101 Orthodox Saints
I originally ordered this book for an adult parishioner and me. We had previously discussed that we wanted to learn more about the Orthodox saints and I felt this would be a good starting place. It is definitely more than that, the information is thorough, the pictures are beautiful and I believe this book will appeal to many age groups. My granddaughter loves to come over and read about her saint and others. I ended up ordering many more copies because the adult members of my parish love the book as well!

The Orthodox Study Bible, Ancient Faith Edition, Hardcover: Ancient Christianity Speaks to Today’s World
I'm thoroughly pleased with the construction quality of the Bible.
The translation has an easy reading flow and the content is filling my spirit! Saving up to purchase another, so that I can have one at work as well. Blessings to you all for producing this 🙏

The Orthodox Study Bible, Ancient Faith Edition, Leathersoft: Ancient Christianity Speaks to Today’s World
I ended up giving this to my husband. The pictures show a brownish cover, but it is almost oxblood - a color I can’t deal with. The added prayers are glued into the front of the Bible, which I find rather tacky. They also duplicate some of the prayers already in the back. If you own the Ancient Faith Prayer Book, then you have the added prayers already anyway. It looks like they took unbound copies of the Orthodox Study Bible, glued prayers in the front, and added a cover.
If it weren’t for these issues, I’d be happily using the Bible. As it is, I’ll stick with the original one, with the stiff fake leather cover, that I got 10 years ago.

I love it. I read a chronological Bible last year and it was written in todays language so now I know what was going on in the King James bibles. Now I can read and understand the Orthodox Bible much easier. I’m taking two Bible study classes and have been using my new Bible for both of them.
Thank you so much.

The Story of Jesus: A History and Theology of Christ
The Bible and therefore the life of Christ comes alive in this book.
As a cradle Orthodox Christian I have to admit I haven't read a lot of the Bible. I know well the stories told year by year in the services. But there is so much more.
This book brings the stories of the four Gospels to life. Explaining the backgrounds, and showing meanings I hadn't considered, for instance his teaching to children and Mary when women were forbidden to learn. It explains in depth what we are to take from the teachings and parables He told.
It sometimes reads a bit like a textbook. It wasn't easy to finish. But it gave so much insight into our Lords life I hadn't known or considered before.

God Is a Man of War: The Problem of Violence in the Old Testament
I first came upon the warrior image of God when I read Christus Victor by Gustav Aulen. Dr. De Young does a masterful job of presenting this aspect of God’s character while explaining some biblical passages that are troubling for a 21st century perspective…HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The Prayer of a Broken Heart: An Orthodox Christian Reflection on African American Spirituality
Thankful I got largely confirmation from it.
Yet I am more of a loose cannon than Orthodox as a layman in PGH. Met Rev. Paul twice before but this work was so much more insightful into his shared convictions
I have been recommending it to several others. My only reservation is the sheer lean on personal experience (e.g. Sojourner Truth) which to my understanding does not always translate to all other individuals like doctrinal and personal exposition of Scriptures might better in a mysterious and glorious transformation of the inner man. Glory, strength to the God of the living Word! He potter, we clay.
In summary, I heartily concur with the main message that there can be a Divine purpose in our suffering for doing good, and we are all debtors to mercy alone.

A Taste of Paradise: Stories of Saints and Animals
Highly recommend this beautifully illustrated book. I purchased an extra copy for good friends who are Protestant and their 11 year-old daughter, who loves woodland animals, read and re-read (and re-read!) the book.
