Excellent, excellent book
Parenting Toward the Kingdom: Orthodox Christian Principles of Child-Rearing
Disclaimer: My family is Roman Catholic. I have a graduate degree in theology from a Latin university. I cannot give the Orthodox perspective.
This book is excellent. Theologically, developmentally, practically sound information presented well. The prose is very readable and the tone is not obnoxious in the way parenting books often are. This is one my husband and I will re-read in the future. It's not only a practical guide, but also gives a clear sense of purpose and vocation while presenting the end of parenting. It stirs up a realm inspiration to holiness.
I could say so much more, but the toddler beckons. Thank God for this book.

Does not actually have all the services or even a full horologion. 3rd and 6th hours are omitted entirely. Disappointing.

The Age of Nihilism: Christendom from the Great War to the Culture Wars
It was one of the best books I've ever read. Possibly THE best. The style is often as wry as the information and perspective are enlightening. For this average bear here, it was much needed information in a form

Memory Eternal: Living with Grief as Orthodox Christians
My sister and her grown son are just becoming Orthodox Christians. Sadly, their husband/father passed away rather quickly. I bought them each a copy. They told me the book was so enlightening and of great comfort. I whole heartedly agree. After reading, I also purchased copies for my other two sisters.

Wounded by Love: The Life and the Wisdom of Elder Porphyrios
Saint Porphyrios offers wonderful and encouraging timeless sage advice for both laymen and monastics. This is one of my go to books that I never tire of reading. I had to buy another copy after wearing out my first one. He lived in "modern" times and knew that the "way of love" was the most realistic path for most of us living in the world who haven't the stamina or wherewithal for the extreme asceticism it takes to achieve the heights of sanctity of the great ascetics.
This book speaks directly to the heart of modern man and is practical and should be, in my opinion, a must have for every Orthodox Christian library.

The Story of Jesus: A History and Theology of Christ
The Story of Jesus Christ by Matthew the Poor should be required reading for Christians of any denomination. This wonderful Orthodox work blew me away. I was expecting a nice book filled with meditations on Christ’s life and the lessons He taught us. Instead, I was blown away by an incredible scholarly work that combines academic research from scholars across the centuries with theological truths and historic knowledge of Christ, Judea and the Roman Empire. The book paints an in depth picture of Christ's life on earth. Each chapter gives the reader a lot of new information to digest and consider, but even so Matthew the Poor’s writing is incredibly easy to understand and is poetically readable. Definitely glad I picked it up during the Lenten season so I can grow closer to the Lord as we approach the celebration of His Resurrection!

The Departure of the Soul According to the Teaching of the Orthodox Church: Reader's Edition
This a very interesting and deeply spiritual book. WIt is to be read only a few pages at a time.
You must allow yourself time to reflect on the meaning of what you have read, and how you might apply its teaching to your own spiritual life.
