Great little knife!

Spyderco ARK (FB35PBK)
I love the lock in feature of the sheath, it is secure and still very easily accessible.
It is nice that it is small enough that I can have it on the waist strap of my rucksack and it does not protrude or stand out in a noticeable fashion. It is very convenient and it is a great always ready knife.

This is a beautifully and functional pocket knife. The black blade and green translucent body make it a real eye catcher. I’m very happy with this purchase and probably order more products from Finch.

Not super uncommon these days, with how the border likes to stop anything that opens properly, the vendors do sometimes slightly over tighten em to ease the process getting into Canada. An easy fix with a torq ,if you need any guidance please feel free to email us service@houseofknives.ca

Benchmade Mini SOCP (177BK)
There are situations where a pocketable fixed-blade offers distinct advantages over a folding pocket knife: When wearing very thick winter or work gloves for instance, it can be difficult to manipulate a folder's opening and/or locking mechanisms. A small fixed-blade may also be preferable when working in especially gritty environments, where particulates can interfere with the functioning of a folder's lock and/or pivot.
For several years now, variants of the Greg Thompson-designed SOCP knife have been my pocket/IWB fixed-blades of choice. What makes the SOCP design especially appealing to me is how fast & easy it is to re-sheathe one-handed. Rapid one-handed re-sheathing is always the diciest aspect of using a pocket/IWB fixed-blade for me, but the SOCP sheath (which comes up all the way to the knife's finger ring) makes the process safe & intuitive.
The SOCP isn't perfect for my purposes as a contextual folding knife substitute, though, at least not out-of-the-box. Every SOCP knife I've acquired & used—from the original double-edged Benchmade 176BK, the partially serrated single-edged Benchmade 178SBK, to the double-edged Benchmade 173BK Mini SOCP, to the subject of this review, the single-edged Benchmade 177BK Mini SOCP—have featured rather obtuse edges that require a not-insignificant degree of reprofiling to get them to slice paper consistently. None of my SOCPs are particularly outstanding slicers even after dropping their edges to 20° because their blades have medial ridges & are relatively thick behind-the-edge due to the combination of blade stock thickness and narrow blade profile but for basic convenience cutting tasks, they are slicey enough. That said, I can't really fault Benchmade for this, as the SOCP was conceived as a purpose-driven "get off me" tool design rather than a dedicated utility cutting implement.
Speaking of utility cutting, the reason I bought the 177BK when I already have the 173BK is because the more conventional single-edged blade of the former is more practical for my purposes. With the 177BK, I can put my thumb on the spine to help guide the blade when performing precision cuts. That's not an option with the 173BK's true dagger configuration.
All in all, I'm pretty happy with the Benchmade 177. It's an effective specialty tool for a specific use case.

I’m happy with the ordering process and the knife , I wasn’t happy with the time it took, mainly because I wasn’t notified when it arrived at the store and I ended up calling in myself because it was taking longer than I was told. It was at the store. I’m assuming for a while. 🤦🏼♂️

Great knife, solid, great steel. It does have some sharp edges on the flicker part that should be rounded off somewhat as to not chew up my pants but other than that, a great knife.

This knife is a fabulous looking knife, open the blade up and it just feels right in the hand. The cleaver style blade is very versatile and user friendly. This knife was made for collectors who appreciate the finer things in life. I'm very pleased with this purchase.
