X1 Enduro EBIKE
Hands down the best e mountain bike for under 5k.
I am a multi-discipline mountain biker XC, Enduro, DH/ freeride..
This is my 1st ebike and I got it to do extra downhill laps at my local trails.. I am now doing close to triple the distance I normally ride in the same time frame. I will not give up my pedal mountain bikes but this is a great extra tool to have in the shed.
I shopped around quite a bit online and decided not to spend 6-10k on other bikes from YT, Specialized or Santa Cruz.. Some of those guys do make some pretty nice machines but not at the price point of Luna...
I am pretty happy with the bike after 65 hard trail miles (steep uphill,downhill and technical single track) east coast gnat to be precise... I managed to do that in 2 HR. Sessions over the course of three days and I barely broke a sweat in 80-90 degrees.. Thanks Luna this bike really rocks the rocks and roots!

I love my X1! It is best bang for buck hands down and so much fun.
I have to knock down couple stars though as first and foremost, the color I ordered and waited 2 months for was matte black, but there was a mix up and the whole batch ended up being galaxy sparkle, not my favorite.. to be fair, Luna did offer me an option to wait and get a matte one or get full refund, but I decided to accept given that I’ve waited so long as is.
Second gripe is with pedals and battery mount area. Pedals that came with it has zero pins that normally comes with most other mountain bikes. Coming from dirt bikes and not knowing, I went out on dirt and nearly slipped off on a intermediate downhill run. Upon comparing to my friend’s MTB did I learn the importance of pins on mountain bike pedals.

54-Tooth Sur-Ron Sprocket
I got the 54 tooth sprocket because I wanted a little quicker acceleration when exiting turns. I knew I would sacrifice a little top speed for it but I mostly ride my backyard track. Looks a lot like the stocker and steel will NEVER wear out. It performed just as I hoped. Here is the math if I did it right. A ratio so 48/54 is .888 times the stock top speed of 49mph will reduce top speed to 43.5mph. I'm ok with that. It definitely has more zip when accelerating. I weigh 170lb so a little big for this bike. My backyard track was designed just for the Sur-Ron, about 850ft in length, a variety of jumps (biggest are 25ft, as much as I dare do repeatedly considering the bikes limits and my weight) banked corners, etc. Pretty fun and neighbors hear nothing. The sprocket gave me that extra zip I was looking for. Since I have had the bike, a little over a year, I figure I have done over 2000 laps on the track, and I'm 62! Love that little bike.

LUNA X1 and X2 Enduro Short Crank Arms
When I bought my X-1 at the end of 2019, it came with longer crank arms. Those are good for leverage but I found myself striking rock and root outcroppings when riding technical terrain. The new crank arms are about an inch shorter. I’ve only had them on the bike for a couple of weeks, but so far, so good. I haven’t smacked a rock since, and I think the shorter arms are a solid improvement, though it will take more saddle time to confirm how effective they are.

The advanced charger works great. I usually charge at 2 amps and 80% for my typical 10 mile ride. Just set it and leave it. Charger automattically shuts down when selected charge level is reached.

If you are into hot rodding a very capable motor I would just jump right to the ludacris gear. The BBSHD is very capable of more power than stock and the nylon gear is the limitation. I just installed the phaserunner to my bbshd and boy this thing can boogie!

Bafang BBSHD Mid Drive Ebike Kit
I’ve done a lot of hub motor ebikes and now I see what everyone means by the superiority of mid drives. The BBSHD is an excellent motor. I would go right to one of lunas aftermarket chain rings they’re so much lighter than stock, give better gear ratios, and better chain alignment. Installing wasn’t difficult at all and having the ability to use my bike transmission creates a different riding dynamic with each gear that you obviously don’t get with a hub motor. I would recommend watching one of the YouTube videos by luna so you know what parts you need for installing. Just get it!
