BBS02 on MTB in Alaska

Great wealth of knowledge available on the forums and really helpful staff at Luna made my foray into electric triking a pleasant experience.

Everything works awesome. Plug and Play.

Started with a Jamis hard tail from 2011 Added the BBSHD kit and that impressive 52 volt 24 Ah Battery pack...just couldn't let it hang in the bag so built a hard case out of parts from home depot andwhat I had around. Found a new issue when traveling at these new warp speeds I have to find a way to balance my tires as they are a bit lumpy at the 32 to 35 mph range I will try some different t I res but the kit was super easy to install and for less than whay I spent on a pre built bike, I have a bike that has almost 2 times the power and 2 tomes the range.....what in the world do people do with the cyclone? How do they keep the wheels on the ground?

I will continue to recommend this amazing electric bike and I will most likely buy another one. No complaints at all just a wonderful user experience thanks to Luna Cycle.

The Sur-Ron X is a wonderful electric bike that was delivered just as promised by Luna Cycle. Their customer service has been fantastic throughout the entire purchase of the bike and even better for any of my follow-up questions. I would definitely and have recommend this product to many friends!

Very good! Love the bike and very helpful!

Will call was handled OK. Would have been helpful if there was some advice on where to park.

BBSHD with 52V battery pack installed in an old Jamis Dakota mountain bike.

This is my first e-bike and I researched lots of options before I made the order. I'm very glad I did. I got the Alite 500+ with Ludicrous controller. I've put about 300 miles on this so far.

The order process was painless and clearly shows that Luna knows how to do fulfillment. I had one quick question that was answered immediately via the web chat service. Fedex Ground delivered it to Pennsylvania on time. The box was a little battered, but Luna knows how to do this, so the bike was in great shape. The magnetically attached battery did manage to come loose in shipping, but no damage. I ride mostly improved trails and believe the mounts are fine for my purpose. Luna provided an easy way to add zip-tie or lockable straps if you want a more secure mount for rougher use.

I got the 300W Luna advanced charger. Well made, seems like it will last and I love the connectors. I followed the recommended 4-5 100% charges to balance the pack and so far only charged at 3 Amps, which is plenty fast for me- I want this pack to last. Since the pack was balanced, I've found that 80% charge is plenty for my 20-35 mile rides. I really didn't know what to expect regarding range and I'm quite pleased. I'm a big guy and >50 yrs old, so I"m probably not the target demographic for the Ludicrous controller, but I figured I wanted to have the power if I needed it. I ride for exercise, so I'm always pedaling where PAS 1 or 2 is usually plenty. Love being able to click it up to offset a stiff head wind or if I'm running out of steam on a big hill!!

I also bought the programming cable. Works well- I connected to see what the default settings were and frankly, I like the settings Luna provided. I did attempt to smooth the throttle response because it does pull rather abruptly. To be fair, Luna's site said this was for folks who wanted extra grunt from a stand-still, so hold on!

I bought it with the gear sensor. It works ok- but doesn't catch every shift and I find myself apologizing to the gear train when that happens - but it isn't too dramatic at the lower PAS settings that I use. It hasn't gotten wet or dirty, so I'm looking at the Knowledge Base to see how I might improve this.

I chose the 500c mini display. It works well and I like the low profile installation. I memorized the voltage to approximate battery capacity table, but it would be nice if the display could show proper state and wattage for the 52 volt battery. This was not a surprise- and the limitation was well disclosed. I think that not having that information on the display is a minor trade for the added performance of the 52 volt pack.

Like I said at the start, I'm happy I got this. I have made a few changes to improve comfort for me, but not because the stock equipment wasn't good (new seat and new stem to raise the bars some). I enjoy tinkering and regularly give the bike a once-over. I had a very minimal tool set, so the tool kit that came with the bike was a very good add. I honestly didn't know what every tool is for, but I've since figured it out. The links to maintenance videos from Luna's site were quite helpful and you should be prepared to make adjustments to keep things running well.

I'm looking forward to lots more great riding and will also likely pick up an e-bike for my wife. Great performance and value. Enjoy!

Quick shipping and quality products. Love working with these guys! The heavy duty bash guard is way better than the stock... which I'd already bashed in in less than 100 miles. The Cane Creek Headset was a must due to the stocker blowing apart quickly as well. Like the o-ring chain quality as well.

The bike has met all expectations. It is extremely fast (35 MPH plus). It is a very solid built bike by Luna , absolutely no problems. I have approximately 200 miles on it, both pavement and trail. I would recommend Luna products to anyone. I am highly satisfied.

El producto es muy bueno, tal cual la descripción, pero: tardo un mes en llegar, estuvo retenido en aduanas de Madrid, tuve que pagar unos gastos extra de aduana de 50 $ + 122$= demasiado caro :(

Luna Cycles was so helpful through the mess of my Lbs who botched the job. Caused delays and extra money. Broke good brakes, installed the lock rings backwards. But Joel, Gary and Tony made everything right by me! Luna Cycles is amazing! Bbshd rocks.

When I call for advise and parts I get both with speed and curtesy at a great price!
And love the how to videos!
Thanks guys!

great service from LUNA again with parts that work as needed

The original Santa Cruz bullit downhill MTB with the BBSHD kit. Had to install the battery on the outside of the frame because the inside triangle is occupied by the huge rear shock. In order to prevent the front wheel from impacting the battery when the front forks compress, I installed a DNM USD-8 fork and a 24" front wheel. This is an off road bike, so it is geared down with a Mighty Miny 30 tooth ring, and a mega range rear wheel cogset. I rearranged the sprockets on the cogset so that only 5 sprockets are used on the outside of the hub. This arrangement keeps the chainline within the limits of function so that the chain does not derail. The bike works great on dirt roads and moderate singletrack. It's not a good technical terrain bike because of the 60# weight. Currently having problems with the motor cutting out, traced to a faulty speedo and magnet detector. This $10 item is "out of stock" at Luna Cycle, so my ebike is nonfunctional and sitting idle in my garage.

I was having a lot of chain drop issues with the stock ring, so after I was advised to get a Luna Eclipse I installed it with an additional chain guide. No more chain drop issues now! Thank you Luna!!!!

Great products and great customer service!

I placed the battery pack inside a Pacsafe 12 litre version which can be secured to the frame . The bag is constructed of stainless steel cable woven and locked with a padlock.

I thought the gear sensor was flawed. Device was shutting down motor on large bumps. Delay was too long also.

Otherwise ok , getting used to the weight and the enertia thrown off by the drive.
