I ordered the BBSHD kit from Luna after much research and many questions. I used their live chat several times and emailed them questions also. Both were answered very promptly and professionally. The kit was received quickly and well packaged. Their forum was very helpful and has vast resources. I would not hesitate to recommend or order from them again. The previous owner of my Light Bee installed some small footpegs and lost the stock footpegs and the mount. I emailed Luna Cycle asking if the footpeg came with the mount portion because in the picture on their website it only shows the serrated footpeg part that swivels not the mount. They verified it does come with the mount that connects to the bracket. The footpegs arrived and I was pleasantly confirmed they do come with the mounts. They make a good inexpensive replacement if your stock ones break. They are very shiny so I painted them with some low gloss black engine enamel and they look great.

Fantastic chain ring replacement. Prior to fitting,could only access 3 top gears with my new BBSHD conversion. Since, now have 8! Also, multiple chain drops before; now, none! Been up hill and down dale & this ring has delivered. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Been waiting for the Apollo since first announced, very impressed.

Bike is solid, frame is rigid with no frame flex, front and rear shocks make for a smooth and comfortable ride. Engaging the motor is buttery smooth, throttle comes on smoothly, no jerking, PAS works great, smooth shifting, motor disengages/re-engages like a designed transmission. The motor is a lot smoother than the bbshd with ludicrous, my old Crusher2 would flex the frame when the motor engaged, did not have a smooth graduated ramp up as opposed to the Apollo.

My top speed has been 36 mph, throttle with PAS 5 peddling hard on the flats, I'm 215lbs, it doesn't feel as if this has the same power as my old Crusher2. Have easily been able to get 40 miles plus range not babying it and using liberal amounts of throttle on flats with lots of hills. When using heavy power for an extended time, power drops off quickly, power recovers once bike has a shorts period of time for rest.

This bike is just what I wanted, it looks great, nothing close to it on looks, capability or price!!!

I installed my BBSHD motor and 48V battery on a Specialized Diverge all-Road, disc brake, aluminum bike. The result is pretty solid for general road riding and commuting 30 miles to/from my work. The motor/battery combo took a little programming to get maximum performance, but now will ride at a max speed of 30 mph, and hold an avg of 22 mph for 30 miles with about 800 ft elevation gain and fairly rough paved roads. I also have a lot of traffic stops, bike paths, and sidewalks to navigate, which lower my avg. I don’t use a throttle, only the pedal assist modes1-4 (not using 5 to conserve battery), and no e-brake cutoff. So far so good, with about 500 miles on the motor/battery.

Purchasing the BBS02 was my first entry into the ebike world. Already put 250 miles on that bike. Building a full suspension BBSHD next for the mountain trails. I highly recommend a twist throttle as it allows for two different styles of riding.

It's a lot of fun and quiet enough to not bother my neighbors. Good battery life too.

I was really excited to get my Luna banana, but FedEx said they couldn't deliver that day (Friday). There was no way I'm wasting that weekend full of riding so I had to drive an hour to get it. The box was not in great shape but fortunately there was no damage to the bike. When I opened it I was surprised that Luna mounted the rear and front racks for me even though I ordered them separately. I thought this saved me some time but I still had to install my pegs. A problem reared its head when I attempted to install the front pegs. It seems the front racks was mounted incorrectly, it was supposed to be mounted on top of the tree instead of the bottom. This pushed the mounting holes down and caused misalignment. The person who installed this seemed to either no notice or not care and put the bolt in crooked which badly stripped out the hole. This occurred on both sides. The back rack fit better but was also slightly stripped. It would have been nice if they used thread locker or did it properly, or not at all since I ordered it that way to begin with. Because of this I had to impact gun the bolts in, essentially permanently mounting the rack.

The other issue I have found is the display, the hand control cable is not long enough and does not reach the handgrips. So the controls are put in a janky position that is difficult to get to when riding. I'm going to have to install my own bar on the handlebars to fix this issue. It's not a very clean or finished look.

Besides those problems the bike is great! The 2500w motor is nice and fast, I was able to put my girlfriend on the back and maintain around 28 mph on flat ground. The speedo on the display didn't seem accurate so that is a guess. The gearing adds lots of tops speed and low end grunt. Enough low end grunt to do wheelies pretty easily. This began my experiment in getting some good wheelies. It's not very easy to maintain a wheelie, the throttle needs to prime the motor a little to get it to be responsive. There is alot of lag initially until you give it a little power then it is more responsive. After a couple good attempts I went for the gusto and overcooked it. I went over backwards tried to hit the brake but didn't get much stopping power. I tried to catch myself and immediately blew out my knee, the bike went down, battery flew out but thank God for those pegs I installed. The bike is fine, I was not, I ruptured my acl broke my tibia and tore my miniscus. This happened in April the day I got the bike and now it is may and I have to wait till June till I get surgery. That bike is just sitting in my garage and I can't ride it and it's driving me crazy. I want to ride it again so bad, it is so fun!

Couple things I would fix though:
The way the battery flew off is not cool. Also knowing how Luna mounts the battery on magnets it would be way too easy to steal. I'm going to mount some strut to give the battery something legit to attach and lock to. Magnets really don't cut it, and having to attach the charger is easy to do without removing the battery so the convenience of magnets is not really needed.

The display needs to be moved up higher. It's disappointing to buy a bike for 3k+ and see such a janky solution for something that has the controls for most of the bikes functionality.

The brakes aren't great. They should be hydraulic.

It can only be ordered with slicks. I would like another option, slicks don't provide alot of confidence when there is gravel on the road.

Other than those problems the bike is fantastic. It feels rock solid, the frame is definitely going to accept the abuse I can dish out to it. The motor is powerful and the gears give it great capability. The seat while stiff is pretty comfy and fits two people.

Overall I'm happy with my purchase even though I'm sitting in bed unable to walk and have months of disability to look forward to. I can't wait to get back on that fun little bastard!

I purchased the 120 mm BBSHD Anniversary special with a 30 tooth mini chain ring. The motor kit has been awesome so far on my Full Carbon Fat bike. Thanks for the great service Luna

I've had mine for a few years now and I'm not someone who leaves a lot of reviews online. Because of Luna's service and support I felt compelled to say something today.

It seems my bike isn't in their roster any longer. Shows you how long I've enjoyed it... Being an east coast guy I've put this bike through a lot. Plowed through 4"+ of snow with it, muddy half frozen trails... you name it, I've done it. It's been ridden hard and put away wet. I've crashed this bike numerous times and the only thing I break is myself.

The customer service has been outstanding. When I say I've crashed it hard I mean it. The last one ended up with me in an ambulance being rushed to a trauma center (of coarse this is my recklessness, nothing to do with bike). I broke 5 ribs and punctured a lung. Of course I called my friends to ask how the bike was and they told me they were having a great time on it...

I've upgraded same things like a padded seat for long road rides, the peg leg kickstand so I don't have to lean it on something or lay it down , and some lights I should have bought from day one.

Install went smoothly on a 68mm but needed extra inward clearance afforded by the Luna 42 tooth front, with 11-36 on rear 9 spd. This was a transfer of the HD over from its previous frame, which I broke after riding for years. The motor is still working well after a couple of years now.
