Luna helped me with this build for my girlfriend in 2016 and it’s still going strong

I was double-checking every step, being very nervous, but all went without a snag. When I let my kids (grown up) try the bike, they all had big smiles on their faces, it is a lot of fun
going uphill. The only complaint is that the speed sensor is easy to break (I just noticed it broke off; I was able to fix it with epoxy, but will order a new one to have a spare). Have not yet a chance to try it long distance (actually bought it for my wife): the winter came too soon here in PA.

My 1st electric scooter and have yet to regret it! Smooth, Sturdy and Reliable...No complaints whatsoever! A must have!

Trying to figure out the best way to configure a DIY build. Triangle bag I got from Amazon was flimsy and the zipper went the wrong way. Luna Battery Bag is incredibly sturdy, well made and offers every option you'd need. Currently, I keep my controller and extra tools in it. Cost as much as the cheapie bike triangle bag I bought from Amazon but lightyears better quality. It was very key to my success with my current build and if the motors and other gear by Luna are as good I will be buying my next kit from them as well.

Bought two new shark skins to replace my damaged ones.

We bought a black Sur Ron last December and then we bought a second one last month.
Luna has been hitting me up to send in some kind of review but I didn't want to say they were great and then it turns out later they weren't so I wanted to wait until I had ridden them for a couple of months and I ride them every single day. Well I'm glad I waited because these Sur Ron's are absolutely awesome. Seriously there is not a hill these things don't tear up, they can climb anything. I ride these bike hard everyday. The only time this bike sees 40 MPH is when it's on it's way to 45 MPH. The torque is amazing. When you turn that throttle, you know you're in good hands. When I got the 2nd bike I was dismayed because out of the box I couldn't get it to even turn on. Luna was in the process of paying for the return of the bike and sending me out a new one when the next day I discovered that the bike won't start if the kick stand is down as a safety precaution. Once I put the kickstand up it worked perfectly. Point being Luna was going to do whatever it took to make it right. Do you NEED this Sur Ron? Probably not, but it's super fun, it's super sik, everyone who sees it loves it. If you can afford it, buy it. If you can't afford it make monthly payments you won't be disappointed it's going to be more fun than you're even imagining. It a blast riding on snow

I tried several front hub motors before listening to the Luna recommendations for the Bafang BBSO2 mid drive. The mid drive light weight and power are just what I need, Now I need to work on proper gear selection for high efficiency. My goal is to still have the 13.5 AH Shark battery lst through a 100 mile ride.

Second build - 1992 Santana Noventa tandem with BBS02. The HD would not clear the timing chainring. Had to sacrifice drop bars for flat ones due to need for brake levers with motor cutoff. GearSensor, 52v 12.5ah battery.

Here is my first build - Salsa 29er donor (thank you son Jeff) with BBSHD, 52v Panasonic 13.5ah Shark Pack, Luna Eclipse 42T Chain Ring (better chainline), Shimano Hydraulic Disc Brake Set (built in cutoff switches), GearSensor and recently added (not pictured) 52v Mighty Mini Cube as a "reserve". Of course, all parts from Luna!

Bike weighs about 51 pounds (donor was around 29 pounds) and is awesome to ride. Very easy kit installation. Most of the time I spent was making the wiring clean looking.

Have ridden around 150 miles mostly testing battery range versus pedal assist. Here is a ride I did last Thursday:
- 48 miles
- 4,100 feet of climbing (several 22%+ sections)
- 16.2 mph average speed
- About 20% left on the battery after ride.....................WOW!!!
Pedal assist at level 1 or 2 except for the steep stuff at level 4 plus a bit of throttle at times....

I have yet to test range of the Mighty Mini - maybe tomorrow.

Tested the Mini Friday (2/10/18). Here are the results:
- Mostly used level 1 pedal assist I envision the Mini as an emergency get home)
- Data from my Garmin 800
- Rolling terrain (Highway 1 Central Coast)
- 28 miles ridden
- Switched to the Shark Pack when voltage on display went from green to yellow
- 1,940 feet of climbing
- 17.5 mph average speed
Impressive indeed. Could easily do 100k plus at low pedal assist!

Ebikes are not allowed in Oregon State Parks. Mine is covert nobody can tell if it's an e-bike because of the small hub. I ghost pedal around cops and fanatics. This combination works perfectly every time. There's no flat areas to ride here so it's all hilly and I get 25 to 35 miles per charge.

Modified lots but workd

After installation, I felt power even at the first level of the assistant. Obedience and adequacy to the applied effort on the pedal. The range of the trip was increased (checked at the first level) without loss of speed as it was on the first controller (it constantly limited the speed and had to pedal with effort)

Fairly easy installation, everything fitted nice except the throttle which had to be modified. I cut the mount and replaced it with a zip tie.
I used different brake sensors, simillar to shifter sensor mounted on the cable.
Fast bike and lots of fun.
Recently had some errors probably water got inside the controller not sure. The staff at Luna was very helpful, they sent me a replacement controller and the bike is back on the road. I lubricated and sealed everything nicely.

I built this bike with the bbhsd. When riding to school in the Florida humid heat, I used to arrive at class soaked with sweat. No more. I typically run it at setting 4, enough to get some exercize but stay socially acceptable dry. If I am running a little late I just push on the throttle button. The color display is an excellent addition.

All I can say is my BBSHD upgrade went perfect. The Luna Chain Ring is by far the best on the market. The 52 volt shark battery provides unbelievable range and power. Luna customer support is top notch and help me with a trouble free upgrade.

I got my bike used but never used. guy i got it from got hurt after he ordered it and never rode it. Living here if Florida i use it year round. i will say bike is great out of the box. but with that said I HIGHLY recommend getting the lcd add on. it really opens up the potential of the bike. It made my bike even better! And yes the beach patrol has stopped me a few times to slow down. Over all very happy with it!!!

The BBSHD on the 30A (1500W) limit turns any bike into a fun machine. Assembly is super easy with the tool kit from Luna. The DPC-18 display / controller is the perfect companion for this kit. I wish I could get it to read the battery data directly from my BMS, so I don't need a phone for this anymore. The software on the DPC-18 does already have some battery status menus included, so this might just be a matter of connecting the BMS to it.
Since I'm also riding motorcycles, I went the twist throttle option. It is very responsive and looks great too. One little twist when you're going up that steep incline and you just keep rolling without breaking a sweat or getting off the seat :)
