Built two fat tire bikes using the Luna Bafang BBSHD 120mm with a DPC-18 display, 13.5ah Shark. The 36 tooth sprocket was best for the casette 11 speed SRAM. It's a blast to ride in the road or trails. I usually select assist 1 or 2. Plenty of excess power if needed.
As pictured the alignment is pretty good. In reality only three to five of the smallest rear sprockets are required (highest gears). It's incredible how smooth the power application is.

This is the second build we did. Second is a 1992 Santana tandem with BBS02. First is a
Salsa 29er with BBSHD. The HD won't fit in the tandem - too wide and interferes with stoker's timing chainring.

These things are so fun! I ride about 5K miles a year on "real " bikes and often after a ride I'll take the Salsa out and do some real nasty hills (12 to 20%) laughing all the time!

I stumbled across an article about mid-drives that linked the Luna site, and decided to take on converting a bicycle for the first time because it was clear that the company was offering the information and products to make something so cool accessible. Also, I was so sick of paying for parking or the bus just to be stuck in the gridlock leaving work from Belltown and South Lake Union areas of downtown Seattle. Everything shipped fast, was easy to install, and the products have offered me an amazing experience so far. I'm hooked; I'll be converting another bike soon, and I want a LUNA APOCALYPSE E-SCOOTER V2 so,so bad that I'm going to have to make that happen soon as well.

This bike was built using a Surly Pugsley Special Ops, purchased in New Zealand off American Tourists and kitted up with : Rohloff IGH, BBSHD From Luna-Mate in Australia, Lekkie 42 tooth chain ring, a ST Thudbuster seat suspension and a Brooks C 19 seat. Driving it is a Luna 24ah 52v battery in a Luna Bag. Making it all so easy was the Luna bottom bracket wrench and of course zip ties.

Best investment for 2017/2018 so far. Paired up the BBSHD with the Panasonic 52v28ah battery and I'm ready to conquer any route in the Bay Area with or without a stoker. Took it out for its first test ride today and could not get off of it. Wasnt planning on doing 25 miles and didn't wear padded shorts but it's going to be well worth the soreness in the rear. Couldn't be more happier with the set up!!

I'm very happy with the BBSHD kit from Luna Cycle. It was an easy install on a 2016 Specialized Roll Sport. The 'Packard' now has over 650 miles without any problems. Luna has been very responsive to questions via their trouble ticket system. I would buy another kit from them.

Got the BBS02 Kit. Nothing special needed to be done. Plug n Play. I also got the horizontal display recently, it's amazing. I have just over 5k miles on this BBS02, still problem free. We will see how it does in the Phoenix summer heat, although I will just use my legs more when we get to that point anyways. Thanks Luna, You are all Mandalorians even if you don't know it! Cheers.

So, I bought the BBS02 Anniversary Kit back in October. After a huge hassle with shipping (it wasn't Luna Cycle's fault, although I had to contact them to find out why there was a delay), I finally got the beauty in early November. The hardest part of installation by far was loosening my bottom bracket, but since then, I have had nothing but good times with this machine. First off, the construction of everything from the motor to the battery mounts is exceptionally well thought out. I took a long time researching the different products, but I am very pleased in choosing the 36T chainring, and only going with the BBS02 versus the highly praised BBS0HD that was considerably more costly and heavier. I use my bike for a daily commute of at least 14 miles (I've logged nearly 300 to date) to school and back. Since I've got it, I've been tracking how many miles I get out of a battery. I got the 48 volt, 13.5 Amp hour battery, and I've only drained it once, and that was after logging 43 miles on one charge. Very impressive life on the battery. Now granted, I usually have the pedal assist on 60 % of 20 amps, so it isn't drawing near what max power would. Even with that said, my average watts per mile comes out ~15 W/mi. which isn't that bad considering I'm using a mountain bike, loaded down with gear and big tires. I'm sure if I was more conservative with the assist I could raise that average up to 20+ W/mi., but in my opinion that defeats the point of putting a motor on your bike. Overall, extremely impressed with the Bafang BBS02, and I highly recommend buying from Luna Cycle. They aren't a scam, and they know their stuff on e-bike technology.

Totally impressed with the quietness and the power of my Luna cycle. I'm using it for hunting and it's been great slipping into my stand.

Upgraded to the Bafange 750 kit and love it!

I got the BBS02 aniversery special (great price!) and had a local bike shop that specializes in powered bikes install it. I had to be brave and drilled a couple of holes into the top tube for rivnuts, but it went smooth and my sharkpack is rock solid now. Bent riders call the Ez1 a good commuter but too slow for serious riders to ride. Well it's not slow now! 30 mph when I need it. My last bike was a tough like a pickup truck and this bike is fast like a sports car. I can't wait for my next project.

I built this bike for my mom who lives on a very hilly island off the coast of Vancouver BC the bling ring ring is well worth the investment for steep terrain yet still able to up to 50kmh! go over all very impressed.
