It did a great job on kitchen knives. It sharpened a 440c hunting knife scary razor sharp at 17 degrees. It also sharpened other hunting knives I had very well with blade material of 420HC, 7cr17mov or 440A and 8cr13mov. I would not suggest to sharpen D2 with it. Thus far seems to be a great product, I definitely recommend it.

This is handy as all get out. The diamond side will work with esoteric steels and the ceramic works great with more mundane steels. The bits seem okay. I swap them out for some Wihi bits just to be on the safe side. This is all you need in the field if you are comfortable with freehand sharpening.

I'm not very good at freehand stone sharpeners. I have the ability to put a wicked edge on 8, $200 and up my latest is a Spyderco Manix 2. The blade is made of CTS BD1N stainless. Made in Bolder Colorado and works with other high-end steel .

This thing is awesome. I've had mine for about 5 years now and it remains my favorite sharpener, although I did just get the precision adjust sharpener so ill have to figure out how to use both. The sharpener is easy to use and did not take long for me to become proficient using it.

Couldn't be easier to use! Put a new edge on my Henkles chef knife in about 5 minutes and I could shave micro thin slices off a tomato! Much faster and more consistent than whetstone or rod. Can't wait to see how it does on the premium knife steels.

System works great, cuts sharpening time down to a fraction, especially when doing multiple blades at a time. Easy to change belts and bevel angles. My only complaint is that the bevel guide is hard to follow with shorter knives. Once you take a couple passes you can easily free hand the angle. Overall great product.

I tried whetstones but ended up not using them because of the steep learning curve. The Ken Onion sharpener was very easy to learn. After one session with a cheap knife, I sharpened our more expensive knives and was very amazed with the results. I also sharpened my EDC knives and they have never been more sharp after.

If you have less than 5 stars your doing something wrong. Took my dull kitchen knives (20 year old no less) and are now razor sharp. Three were from Chicago cutlery, one IKEA, and 1 Lamson. All now slice paper with ease. I tried Whetstones, HORL2 (Good idea but didnt work and dangerous), Wusthoff and this did the trick and EASY! Was skeptical as it is essentially a sander but that is what sharpening is. Has the perfect angles so no guessing. Will try scissors next!

STUPENDOUS! Absolutely wonderful device. On my first use, I took an old dull pocket knife and within minutes, I could shave my arm with it. That was with the blade grinding attachment. I used the standard grinding attachment to sharpen the wife's kitchen knives. At last, a final solution device...no more wasting money on other so-called professional systems. This was an excellent buy. Don't be like me though, be smart! Buy the Elite edition and get it all at once. There is nothing nicer than a sharp knife and nothing more self satisfying than being able to put a better than factory edge on a blade. Love a good monkey arm! Lol.

I really like my Ken Onion model with blade grinding attachment. I would love to se yall come out with a 2x72 blade grinder at a good price point. I find myself making more blades, but cannot pay 2000 dollars for a good 2x72 set up. I also have a 1x30 grinder I bought off an auction, but it runs too fast and to change it to variable speed is both expensive and beyond my technical ability. No frills but functional 2x72 machine at a sub 500 price would be very attractive.

WorkSharp Ken Onion blade sharpenerI've owned this for about two years and have been striving for sharp blades for 55 years. The convex blade sharpening yields the most durable blade sharpness. And what isn't mentioned in knife sharpening comparisons is "ease of use". No brand of sharpener is as easy to use as this one. It's not even close. This one also has areas on the belt that you can "free-hand" on Cutlery, garden, wood prep, and other working blades. Once you've had it for a month, the set-up for blade rehabilitation, sharpening, or touch-up is measured in seconds. Try that with another sharpening system that can handle filet knives to axes! Very versatile and straightforward to use. A $900 knife sharpener can give you a measurably sharper edge, but that edge is relatively brittle compared to the convex edge that the Ken Onion produces. I've owned nearly all the sub $500 sharpeners, and I recommend this one as my clear favorite to save you the expensive meandering journey I've traveled to end up at the Ken Onion Worksharp.

I just received my unit and like all toys I couldn't wait to try it. At first I was too heavy at the wheel but relaxed after a while.
