An excellent tool and super compact little sharpener and best of all it really works! The angle guides kept the blade consistent, the diamond abrasive quickly sharpened, and the ceramic honed the edge to a toothy sharpness that easily shaved hair from my arm. The Torx bits are a smart use of space and I'm able to maintain my folding knives pretty much anywhere I go. You can actually get a decent amount of torque when using it as a bit driver it as well. This is going in my hunting pack and I'll be buying my friends and family one. I assure you, the outdoorsman in your family will love to have this compact tool.

Handy to keep in backpack for getting a quick edge on your small knives in the field. I would not recommend for large blade knives. Hand to have the torx available for light cleaning and repair.

I really like this Sharpener. Good quality build and works as a great key chain on my SXS. If I need a quick touch up for dressing game or just to touch up on the pocket knife. The three torx bits are the perfect size for the screws on most of my knives.

Spectacularly effective and easy to use tool. One of my favorite hunting spots became largely inaccessible after the area leading to it was clear cut. It became an impenetrable mass of slash piles and briars. So, each time I went out for a while I brought a machete with me and eventually chopped a path through the 150 yard wide tangle. After each outing, a quick pass through my Ken Onion Edition Work Sharp restored a perfect 25 degree rolled edge suitable for chopping both briars and slash piles. It also allowed me to restore the nicked edge on my Gransfors Bruks Forest Axe after I managed to strike a rock, this time with a perfect 30 degree rolled edge. It is so easy to change sharpening angles and belt coarseness for different knives and tools that it makes keeping perfect edges effortless. I have a drawer full of other sharpening aids that have all been rendered unnecessary by my Work Sharp.

Warning dont do this without practice with a straight razor. At a family gathering I told my wifes cousins daughters boyfriend to be careful because my knifes were razor sharp, to which he replied challengingly. Whos razor?, I replied Pick one, any one. He grabbed a large butcher knife and I held out my left hand and asked him to please hand it to me. Without hesitating I reached out my right arm and bent my wrist towards me to tighten the skin on my forearm then slowly, carefully scraped it along the tightened side of my forearm once. Looking at the almost clean shaven spot on my arm I saidBeen a couple of weeks, looks like it needs sharpening that and a good razor belt and shaving cream might help. Thanks to the Ken Onion even my low quality knives really are razor sharp. If you dont believe it I could provide a video.

We got this as a wedding gift. Our cheap knives are now sharper than when new, it was even on my first attempt. I compared it to a brand new handmade Japanese knife (also wedding gift), the cheap knives became pretty much as sharp as the expensive one in about 5 minutes.Makes me feel comfortable about the expensive knife because there's no way I would dare to put that on a whetstone.

I have one that has worked well on many knives and tools however I bought one for my dad and it's hardly been used (maybe 20 knives). That one quit working and started smoking. Upon inspection, a small plastic spool inside was cracked and slipped so it did not drive the belt. Found out you have to buy the whole cassette instead of the small spool so disappointed that it had only sharpened maybe 20 knives and they don't sell individual parts. BTW, it's a very easy part to replace by simply removing 1 screw and the housing cover.

My review is for the original. I have both the original and the Ken Onion models. I much prefer the original. It is much easier to use, especially with small knifes, such as a paring knife. On the Onion, small knifes just fall off the guide. Guides on the original are solid and precise.

I want to say I've had this for 5 or 6 years but I cant remember how long it's been exactly. My amazon account shows I bought the upgraded version in 2014 and I've had this for a while before I got that. This machine is fantastic still after all this time. Aside from belts, I've never had to replace a part. This thing will get your knives hair shaving sharp. A friend and I used to make knives and I'd use this to put on their final edge. In my opinion it works better than the upgraded version.

This things amazing! I was skeptical at first, but after watching a video and giving it a try even my junk knifes are razor sharp after 3/5 mins. What would take me 20 mins now takes 5 to get better results. If your on the fence like I was just get it you wont regret it.

I keep it plugged in at the guide shack. It was my first year using the electric Original Work Sharp knife and tool sharpener guiding elk. The other guides enjoyed it as well. Very quick and easy to use to get consistently very sharp blades. One guide that uses disposables, was concerned the belt took off too much material from the blade.
