Seem like no brainer upgrades and a very fair price.

These are pictures of my 1992 Marlin 336CS, caliber .30-30. Initially I wasn't going to pay any attention to it, since it had the newfangled crossbolt safety and the factory checkering that I never liked. However, when I saw he was asking $219, I couldn't pass it up. It was nice and clean, nearly free of imperfections. There was a 4 power fiixed magnification scope that looked like it came from some discount store, and that wasn't all that impressive, but it did work and I basically wanted to give it a home.
It sat in my gun safe for years until I picked it up for last Fall's hunting season. I'm getting more and more careful about my older Marlins, so I decided to take the least desirable one hunting, and that was this one. I kinda turned my attitude around about the crossbolt safety when I realized that it did serve a very useful purpose in allowing me to unload the weapon without hazard by blocking the hammer.
After I got home from Pennsylvania, I got noodling around on Marlinowners.com and discovered Ranger Point Precision. That got me thinking...
My rifle weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces unloaded, as the first photograph shows it. The walnut is particularly dense, but that probably accounts for the fact that the recoil is so mild.
I ordered the shorty 3 round mag tube, a featherweight loading gate and a 2.5 power Leupold scope. I used the low Weaver rings, and they do a good job of getting the scope low enough that I can have a decent cheek weld and find the scope image instantly.
So, now it's 7 pounds, 11-1/2 ounces, a full pound less, and most of the weight reduction came from replacing the long steel magazine tube with the short aluminum one, and eliminating the front barrel band. The biggest change is the way the gun feels. Eliminating the pound from the front of the gun moves the balance back a lot and now it feels a lot handier.
I'm also enclosing a picture of the rifle with a 12 power scope on it which I used for accuracy testing prior to removing the factory magazine. I had read a great article written by Finn Aagard in Rifle magazine a long time ago where he noticed that some Marlin rifles suffered from interference between the barrel and the magazine tube back in the area just ahead of the receiver. Not knowing whether this affected my rifle or not, I put the 12 power on it to shoot a few groups and establish it's accuracy level before modifying it. It turns out to be a 1-1/2 inch to 2 inch rifle all day long, occasionally under one inch, but not consistently enough to matter, and putting the Ranger Precision mag tube on it didn't make any difference.
So, here it is, and I'm quite happy with the product you produce. It works fine, looks great and now I think this is going to be my go-to piece for the woods of northern Pennsylvania.

Marlin and Rossi 95 Hammer Ext BLACK (Cross-Bolt Safety)

The tube was easy to put in! Just remove the front sight, magazine plug, front barrel band and rear barrel band screw! The tube fits in perfect! Cutting and measuring the spring was easy! Just line up the cap and put the screw in and you have a very nice looking Rifle!
I took the rifle to the range and found that the zero had changed! The rifle was shooting 1/2 in high at 100 yds. with the stock magazine tube. With the short tube in the rifle now printed 7 in. low at 100 yds. I attribute this to the barrel harmonics and the barrel being freed to move! Once the adjustments were made the rifle printed just over 1 inch at 100 yds. with Hornady LeverEvolution 200gr.!
I'm very happy with the Marlin .35 Rem.! It shoots great!

Excellent quality, fast shipping. I haven't had any range time with it, but it fit perfectly and looks great on my Big Boy .357. I do wish I had gotten the round aperture instead of cloverleaf so I could put a smaller peep sight in, the clover leaf is more of a ghost ring than peep sight.

Marlin 1894 Lever Loop Straight Grip Stock | Medium Loop (black)
Added the larger loop lever, the improved loading gate, the safety delete and the aluminum mag follower to my Guide Gun. I can now load each cartridge without having to nurse the previous one forward to clear the gate, I can no longer accidentally bump the nanny-state safety and the lever no longer tries to amputate my fingers every time I pull the trigger. Major improvements across the board.

Great product, easy to follow video and relatively easy to install. Marlin could save some thumb damage with this aluminum loading gate.

Marlin 1894 Lever Loop Straight Grip Stock | Medium Loop (black)
Ranger Point makes a really nice “medium loop” lever. Fit and finish was excellent. Customer service is also top notch. They emailed and followed up with me to make sure I was happy and had no issues with the lever. I know of a few other company’s that could benefit from doing business and taking care of their customers like Ranger Point does.Great job folks, keep up the excellent work!

Well, RPP has done it again! Another quality part to make your Marlin 336C look great and shave some weight! It took me about 15 minutes to remove the old mag tube and install the new short one. I really like the sportier look of the rifle.
Now that the rifle doesn't have the front barrel band and the weight of the magazine tube under the front of the barrel, I'm looking forward to seeing how the rifle will print at the range.
This Marlin 336 is in .35 Rem and printed 1 1/2 inch groups, from a LeadSled, at 100 yds. with Hornady 200gr. LeverEvolution rounds. Now that we have freed the barrel in the front, I'm sure that the zero will have to be adjusted and I can see the groups getting smaller as the barrel will not be bound up at the front!
I wish the review would let me add pics but it won't.

Henry X Hammer Extension Silver (Ambidextrous)
This hammer extender from Ranger Point fits like a factory part on my Henry H009AW 30-30. I have a 1970's Marlin 336 that came with a similar type extender, but until I found this one I had seen nothing like it in the aftermarket. I actually had an aftermarket extender on this rifle that had a small round knurled knob for the thumb. It was in no way as sure as the Ranger Point extender, plus being generic it had a little slop in the fit, and at some point became lose enough unknown to me to fall off and was lost. Henry carries some extenders on their website, all aftermarket I believe, but I would not order because of the similarity to what I had. I think Henry would do a good service to offer these from Ranger Point that work with their rifles. Thanks Ranger Point. Glad my relentless searching found you!

I've never had or shot a peep sight so I was hesitant... The folks I talked with on MarlinOwners convinced me to try it and I'm glad I did... I have it on an 1894C and I can once again shoot at 50 yards or more without a scope...
As always the RPP crew got it out to me fast!
Thanks!
