Two of the 5 shots fired pierced the primer, and there was more case distortion than the Norma casings showed. But with all this said, Arisaka rifles are not easy to find the right ammo for. I think the pierced primer and case distortion are signs that the Steinel ammo is a much hotter load than Norma is using. I think custom loading is the answer for this rifle, after all it's over 100 years old.

I've have my Dad's 1939 rifle that he used as a kid to hunt but never had the ammunition to shoot it. I did a search and found Steinel to be the best price around. I have found original ammo in the past but didn't trust shooting it. I shot my Steinel ammo through my 80 year old gun and it worked great....clean and accurate.

Recently aquired a great condition Carcano M38 Cavalry Carbine with a fantastic barrel. The caliber is 7.35 x 51 instead of the usual 6.5, and much harder to find. Picked some up from here, and discovered that the rifle has more accuracy than I'm capable of taking advantage of, hahaha. Grouping at 50 yards was about the size of a quarter through fixed iron sights. After ordering my ammo I was called by the owner himself apologizing that it would take a few more days since they were producing more rounds at the time. Spent a good 15 minutes in a great conversation and am very happy with the customer service. Once I have more disposable income I'll definitely be getting more ammo in the future.

The ammunition was consistent and accurate. Most other ammo manufacturers load the 500 Smith to more of a "500 Special" level which is dissapointing at best. Steinel loads to factory standard levels so the shooter can take full advantage of the power of the 500 Smith and Wesson cartridge.
