Well long story short...Dan at M2S bikes is very helpful and true asset to the company...The bike is over the top...High end components for the price point and far exceeds the rest of the industry...750 all-terrain FS... So impressed with the bike after only about 30 miles use...First class company... Ordered the high-end bike oddly through Walmart .com... Which surprised me they would carry such a high-end E-bike... well they cancelled the order for some unknown reason 4 times but M2S shipped anyway to prove what an over-the-top company they are ...Don't be concerned of possible cheap suspension components either, they work excellent. This company deserves your persistence if ordering through Walmart.com for the free shipping because they are a first-class organization hell bent on customer satisfaction with a killer product, Mark

M2S Customer service is probably the best I've ever dealt with from a company. I had a problem with an Ultra FS crank arm on a newly arrived bike and they went out of their way to fix the issue. No bike companies, or motorcycles, etc for that matter, are free of small manufacturing problems on occasion. That's just the nature of the business since parts come from all over. However, the company that stands out is the one who has outstanding customer service- M2S is one of them. Would be happy to deal with them again....

The Ultra HT is a powerful bike with a lot going for it, but the drivetrain lets it down.

As a 6ft 220lb rider with a fair bit of cycling experience, I’m quite pleased with the frame geometry, fit and finish, and ancillary components. The brakes, fork, seat, etc. are pretty nice for a stock setup, and it feels good to ride.

The bright points up front: the bike is energetic and a blast to ride on fast single-track paths. You can start in almost any gear and the motor just makes up the difference. Moreover, you can even set your own speed limiter (24mph and below will limit the power to 750W). I have yet to find a hill that this won’t climb.

This bike’s downfall is its drivetrain, from motor to cassette. Don’t get me wrong: the first ride is an immediate “WHEEEE” sensation, and if all you’re trying to do is go fast and look good, this is your bike, stop looking. The assist kicks in like a mule in ECO 1 and just goes up from there. Sport 5 is less like pedaling and more like riding a motorcycle.

First, the gearing is an exercise in compromise that I don’t think makes anyone happy. The 11-34T cassette is very road-centric (many competitors go to 11-46T or even 11-50T), and while it gives you some smooth close-ratio shifting, the range is uninspiring and mostly focused on speed. M2S seems to implicitly acknowledge that by provisioning a 40T ring (where the other vendors often go with 44T), but it’s really not enough. I bought an aftermarket spider and 30T front chainring to bring the gearing down to fat-bike crawler ranges and it’s just barely enough. The derailleur won’t go past 34T, so expect to replace it too if you just think you’ll just drop in a wide-range cassette.

Second (and, honestly, worse) is the Bafang factory tune on the Ultra motor. It’s jumpy, it will throw you into traffic or off of a cliff and keep going for seconds after you stop pedaling. It’s inefficient, almost constantly pumping 250W (the maximum for some countries) into the crank, whether or not you’re trying to feather your input. Put it this way: if you turn the crank a quarter turn, the motor thrusts like you’re standing on the pedal full force, and keeps turning the crank a full turn or more after you stop. It is decidedly unfriendly to any delicate maneuvering, so don’t imagine for a second that “torque sensing” does anything for this motor. It feels like just a cadence sensor.

This is not M2S’ fault. The Bafang Ultra used to be programmable, but Bafang is apparently strongly anti-customization and has recently made several changes that basically eliminate all end-user and most dealer customization. I thought that I, as a hardware engineer would have ways past that kind of silliness, but there’s no easy path and this bike is likely to remain exactly what it is until I sell it to someone else. I probably won’t buy another Ultra-based bicycle.

Finally, a mild annoyance but the prospective buyer should know: the Schrader tubes this comes with are not standard (non-electric fat bikes generally use Presta valves). I live in Denver and have fantastic bike shop access but still can’t source 4-inch Schrader tubes locally.

If 3 stars is “meets expectations”, this is more of a 2-star review. I will keep and ride it, but am already looking for the replacement.

There was an issue with the front fender when my bike arrived. I notified the company and within days had the replacement parts at my door. M2S has an efficient system for customer service.

Love this bike! The fat tires make any and all surfaces easy and fun to navigate. The power if needed is strong and just makes me smile. With or without the electric assist, the bike is so responsive and a blast to ride. I chose to leave the basket off but I do have the option to attach it if I want. I always look forward to getting on the Scout.

Nice bike. Finally found a bike for my height. I am 6’8” tall. It was hard to find anything that would fit me. This bike is more than enough. I have been out a few miles and have to say it really is a nice bike and solid.

Love it! As a 73 year old rider, this bike give me so many more options of places to ride in our hilly County. Still a good workout and I don't feel like I have to get into really good shape before I can ride hills.

Great bike I’ve had a blast so far. I only have a couple hundred miles on it but no problems. I hike a lot and have learned hiking legs do not equal biking legs but I’ll get there.
