Character Cherry Wide Plank (Face Grain) Countertop
I used 24" x 18" pieces of Character Cherry wide plank/face grain countertop to make a sturdy "flexi-rack" to hold my stereo components. The top piece for the turntable is 1 3/4" thick and the others 1 1/2" thick, and are held together with 3/4" steel rods. The shelf positions are "flexible" as to adjustability but the purpose of the thick hardwood is sound/vibration isolation. All I had to do with the wood was drill holes and stain. No further sanding was needed. Thanks for making my project!

Premium Walnut Wide Plank (Face Grain) Countertop
The countertops were packaged and protected, so they arrived unscathed. I purchased unfinished countertops, so I did not know if the wood was ready to finish, but it was. I chose tung oil to finish the wood, and I'm about half way done. I plan on 7 coats on the top and 2 coats underneath. Looking really good at this point. I'm using 220 sandpaper on the first two coats, 320 on the next two and 400 on the last ones. It's actually pretty easy. The hardest part is moving the pieces around. They are pretty heavy being solid walnut and all.

My ash countertops came out gorgeous and I’m really pleased with the quality and craftsmanship delivered by the Hardwood Lumber Company. They are very sturdy and the wood strips are all full-length. They also made sure to swap the grain angle of each piece to minimize warping. I chose unfinished wood and used walnut oil on them after installation- it really brought out a lot of character in the wood and made them even more lovely. Delivery took a while, I think it was 4 weeks between ordering and having them show up.
