Steamed Walnut Edge Grain Butcher Block Countertop
The countertop for our island was delivered in protective packaging and arrived in pristine condition. The color is so nice and warm, though a little lighter than I imagined from the photos online. It doesn't matter because it still works beautifully with our teal island and gold fittings. My construction team was worried about installing something they had never seen but, once it arrived, they had no trouble getting it set in position and completing the installation. We're quite pleased with the purchase and are glad to see it holding up well to the daily use it's getting.

Hard Maple End Grain Butcher Block Cutting Board
Ordered a custom end grain maple cutting board, with mineral oil finish. The board warped *dramatically* after washing, to the point that it cracked in multiple places. I contacted support and they sent a replacement. This time I decided to oil the board preemptively before any usage. It absorbed almost an entire 8oz bottle of mineral oil, indicating that it was absolutely not sufficiently oiled initially.
The board itself is nice, and I appreciate the company replacing the initial board, but it seems that the basic problem is selling boards as mineral oil finished that are not finished. The instructions say that further oiling is optional and "for best results". It is definitely not optional!

Hello,
Thanks for your feedback. End-grain butcher block cutting boards tend to absorb more oil than our other styles. All of our cutting boards do require more frequent maintenance at first, but over time, the upkeep becomes less demanding as the wood conditions and stabilizes.
