This review is early, as I’m still working through the cuts. I’ve grilled the burger patties, and it was incredible. The other night I cooked some in a cast iron skillet. That was good as well. The grill flavor was another level. I made a beef stew, and that was fabulous. Overall I’m very impressed. I should state, I’ve been buying grass fed beef for some time. It’s important to me cattle eats tall grass, and moved daily. I’ll be buying another 36lb box assortment again.

We are loving this ground beef so much this summer that I just had to order more, even though we have a beef share coming in September! Our adult children have started buying it, too. Many thanks to Farmer Dan and team for feeding our family!

If you really want this to turn out well, marinate thoroughly in a marinade with some oil in it. It is quite lean. I cook the meat by itself, with the veggies on separate skewers. I just have better control of the process that way. Lovely flavor, as found in all Heartstone meats.

Not only are these burgers juicy and have just the right amount of fat, IMO, they are delicious. I made my wife a mushroom swiss burger…and for myself, a bacon cheese burger and they were so good. We have been using Heartstones burger for a while and making the patties ourselves but decided to try the pre-made patties. They are 6oz. of deliciousness! So if you’re feeling a little lazy on a Friday evening like I was go for the pre-made patties. Never mind how great the staff is to deal with. They should be an example to every business trying to make a go of it during this crap time! Well done Farmer Dan!

Superior Beef with Exceptional Service

The chicken was more expensive than we usually buy but worth every penny - everyone in the family loved it and asked me to buy more.

Our 4th of July was especially delicious this year with amazing steaks on the grill. Thank you Heartstone!

Roasted two chickens in a large electric roaster. We used lemon, salt and pepper, parsley and lots of garlic. We roasted the two chickens over some celery, carrots and onions. We served the roasted chicken, which was the tastiest we’ve ever had (so juicy and tender) with oven roasted carrots, potatoes, onions and fennel. Also, we had some broccoli. What a phenomenal meal! With enough leftovers for chicken salad AND homemade chicken soup. Thanks, Farmer Dan!

First having it delivered right to my door was fantastic. The quality of meat was very good and I loved the packaging amounts. Knowing that Im eating grass fed and no additives is very important to me, and the price was right. I will definitely being ordering again.

I had been searching for local sourced beef and came across Heartstone Farm. Previous reviews of the farm were all positive and decided to try it. I purchased a couple of rib-eyes and a few pounds of ground beef just to try their products. I couldn't have asked for anything better. The rib-eyes grilled up perfectly and the flavor and texture was incredible. The ground beef made great burgers and the flavor, like the steaks was fantastic. When I placed my order it was in the middle of the current pandemic so it took a little while to receive it, but they kept me informed of the delay and any inquiries that I made was responded to in a timely manner. I'll definitely be purchasing from them again. In my opinion you don't need to go any further than Heartstone Farm.

It was delicious. Even though the package was delayed by problems the post office experienced, the meat still arrived cold! It was packed very well. The short ribs were amazing too!

Farmer Dan has definitely become my "meat guy". The meats are excellent - from the steaks to the Hamburg patties. I love that the cows are grass-fed, no grain, and especially no antibiotics. Quality and service is excellent as well. My order arrived amazingly packaged and all the meat was still frozen solid. As an 11th generation Mainer I love supporting Maine farmers and I have found one of the best! Going to place another order soon!!

Slightly marinated and it became so tender and juicy!

So far, we have enjoyed a few steaks (t-bone and rib-eye), stew beef, burgers and ground beef from our Maine Box. The quality and taste have been excellent and we feel as though we have found our meat supplier from now on! More, Farmer Dan and crew were very responsive to questions, kept us updated on delivery, and were a pleasant group with which to work. I live in Maine and there were no local places near Augusta that had brisket readily available. My husband requested brisket for his birthday that weekend and I was scrambling to make it happen. I called Heartstone because they'd had advertised several different sizes of brisket beef. Needless to say I placed the order online, and because I live in the state I was able to drive up and pick up my order the next day. My husband enjoyed his brisket very much. Thank you!

Superior Beef with Exceptional Service

Bellwether are very pleased with the quantity and assortment of meats in our Maine box. About 40% of the box is ground beef or hamburger patties. So far we tried one package of patties and the beef short ribs. Both were excellent. We grilled the ribs with indirect heat at around 275 deg for about 2 1/2 hours with a pepper, salt, and paprika dry rub. Then, for a second meal of ribs, we braised the previously grilled meat in red wine and mushrooms. The meat fell off the bone. We haven’t tried the steaks yet. For the large porterhouse steaks, I would have preferred one 2 lb thicker steak than two thinner steaks. I like to pre-cook thick steaks in a suis vide and use a reverse sear method. I will have to do some research about the best method for cooking a thin (3/4 to 1 inch) porterhouse. This isn’t a criticism of the meat, just a personal preference. When we order it again, I would ask to swap two thinner prime cuts for one thicker steak. Overall, you can’t beat the sale price for quality grass fed beef for an average of under $10 per pound.

I am so happy that i found heartstone farm on line about 5 month ago. i loved liver, heart, beef stew,it's grass fed, grass finished pure and fresh every bite. This time i ordered sirloin steak,short rib,chicken breast ect I cooked sirloin steak after marinated in crushed kiwi for 4~5 hours wow, it cooked out so tender,delicious,heavenly taste!! I could feel the lifting yang energy in my body from eating happy healthy cattle meat. come to thinking about it, Ancient time, our ancestors never consumed cattle, poultry with added hormone, antibiotics, grains like our present age. I think that why they lived long happy healthy life without all sorts of ailments we are suffering now. i wish your farm's mission and care for humanity never change. In June 2020, we got our first cow share from Heartstone Farm. The meat is extremely good, and everything came just when and as we were told it would. We've tried Cowshare and ButcherBox in the past, and while both are good, this meat is definitely more flavorful. It's also better packaged (no leaking as everything defrosts, which has been a constant issue with ButcherBox) and comes at a more competitive price. We're definitely ordering from Heartstone again.

The dry aged strip steak is a perfect choice and size when grilling for one or for the whole family when everyone has a preference for how they want their steak cooked. Rare, medium rare or medium no problem. A family favorite.

The beef is very tender compared to regular beef bought at grocery stores. It is definitely a cut above the rest!!

I just can't get enough of Farmer Dan's beef heart! Well, actually, his liver too, and his beef...you get the idea. Tastes like the meat of my youth when I lived on a farm in Maine and my dad & mom raised "our own." This isn't grocery store meat...not even the stuff marked as "Certified Angus" can hold a candle to this meat.

We received a shipment and we started tasting and chicken breast is out of this world delicious and flavorful and ribeye steak is so tender juicy and delicious one of the best we ever had and we are fussy New Yorkers with seasonal house in Maine who travel a lot and and know a lot about food and this is an incredible find!!

Great stuff!

Sirloin tip is not noted as the tenderest of steaks, and if overcooked can be dry. I had a cook-out Sunday (observing proper precautions of course.) I cooked five sirloin tips in my sous-vide cooker the night before to medium rare. The juices went to make a lovely steak sauce. When my guests arrived, I simply pan-seared the steaks for a minute or so on a side after seasoning with Kosher salt, garlic and fresh pepper. Absolutely lovely, so easy, juicy and very tender. Thanks again, Dan. The advantage to this method is that the steak remains tender and juicy. I made up a bit of hash for dinner tonight using the orphan baked potato, a small onion, and cubes of steak. Lovely, and not chewy and dry. Another advantage, which I've mentioned before is that a moderate steak is enough. You simply feel fed quicker.

I met Farmer Dan a little over a year ago and we just got our second quarter share delivered. The freezer is full and we love the assortment of meats that we get and quality is the absolute best!

I bought this as a gift for my husband for his birthday. It was a great gift but didn’t last long because my parents were intrigued and soon we were giving away packages of meat for everybody to try! Everyone who tried the beef commented on how delicious it was (beef that tastes like beef!). Until now my favorite Heartstone steak was the 1 pound ribeye. The only thing better is a 38 ounce Tomahawk Rib Steak. Same great flavor and texture as the rib eye but a show stopper when feeding guests. Highly recommended.
