This was the 3rd Southampton Half Marathon that I've run now and I thought that overall, it was another hugely successful day! I have to say, I did prefer the routes of both 2015 and 2016 respectively; the main reason being that completing Itchen bridge nearer to the start was far better both physically and mentally than having to find the energy to face it near the end. I also think that there still needed to be a few more water stations along the way, especially because of the sun and heat of this year's event. The start was disappointing; in previous years there has been a 10 second countdown, yet this year the horn just sounded and we were off with no warning! Apart from these few points, it was yet another well organised day and brought all of Southampton together in a heartwarming way. It really is so special to run in your hometown alongside thousands of other runners in such a united fashion. The support of the crowd, milemakers and pacers was as incredible as ever. The whole day really does make you feel so proud to be a part of and to come from this beautiful, determined city.

My first half and largest event I've done. Thoroughly enjoyed it, well organised, well marshalled by encouraging people, lovely **** and banana at the finish with great medal and goody bag. No issues whatsoever. Would thoroughly recommend it and will be there again!!

I was kept well informed leading up to the race. I received the (correct) bib with all parking information in good time.
It was all very well organised.
The atmosphere on the day was amazing. Everyone supporting each other. Including all the supporters, cheerleaders and kids along the route.

A great atmosphere but the course wasn't very smooth with too many 90 degree turns, which reduced the enjoyment of the race itself as it was difficult to get into a rhythm . Could this be looked at for next year? If the course stays as it is for next year, I will not be re-running it.

The day was a really good one, lots of parking and plenty of info before the race. The only thing i would suggest is where the difference disciplines met up towards the end of the race, it was confusing which way we were supposed to go. Maybe two signs to direct 10k runners and another for marathon and half marathon runners? Rather than steward's as i couldn't hear what they were saying. Apart from that it was great. Well done you guys!

This was my first year competing in the 10k after having previously completed the Half Marathon on the two previous occasions.
Overall an enjoyable race but a couple of nigglesI would like to mention. I felt the start of the 10k was very cramped and once you had found your starting position there was no room for movement.
There was a couple of parts of the route that felt we were just running round in circles to make up the mileage. I.e Cumberland Place/Brunswick Plc and through the park?
Thirdly .... water!!!!! Really lacking in water stations!! I am not normally one for drinking on a 10k run but, on Sunday it was sooo hot many people (including me) were looking for water long before the station appeared.
Overall a good, well organised day and considering you were managing three separate races- you did an amazing job.
By the way, got the wrong t-shirt (26.2 instead of 10k) but it will given me something to work towards next year!!!!

There were t enough aid stations- in the 10k it was 8k before you could get water. And it was a hot day!
