To many people in the wrong start positions causing slow start. Mixing with slow 10k runners on the bridge is not a good idea

(I ran the full marathon)

It was my first marathon and I really enjoyed it. Thought it was well organised and I managed to get a new number easily with no queue since mine got sent to the wrong address (my fault).

Although, it wasn't clear where the warm up would be so I missed it as I was at the start line.

I enjoyed running but couldn't see the mascot run because I was in the pen and it was to far away

From student-filled streets to riversides, beautiful parks and even the inside of a football stadium, this course is one the best I have ever run. Second only to the London Marathon for me, there were people lining every mile of the course cheering and enjoying the atmosphere with the runners. The feeling on finishing straight will stay with me forever and the alcohol free **** at the finish was genius. Definitely enter this run!!

First time I'd been to Southampton, loved it. Very well organised event with a beautiful scenic course (even St Mary's) ???? with lots of support most the way around. Even received a free **** at the end and the tshirt and medal were awesome! Seriously, what more could you ask for?!

Very Good organisation . Lovely support from
Local people, marshals and organised groups.
It's was nice to run around the green parks and the river . The itchen bridge was very tough especially the second time around and new I would be walking up it . I wouldn't say it was a course to get a PB becasue of the bridge . It was nice to do a course which was calmer than London and Brighton and lots of space to run without having to worry about weaving in and out of people .
There could have been more toilet facilities on the course of woman .
The second time round in the town, towards the end people were getting in the way by walking through the town .

Have done the half for all 3 years and enjoyed it every time, although I preferred the 2016 route, with the bridge nearer the beginning and coming down through the common and high street to the finish!!
It is a very organised event with a great atmosphere and I will definitely do it again and would recommend it to other runners.
It is a great alternative to London but still with loads of support all the way round the course, maybe next time I won't chicken out of doing the full!!

Great race and well supported. Fabulous Marshalls and helpers, I really enjoyed the day.
Only negatives are that a water station would have been appreciated at the start of the bridge, also maybe a reminder regarding headphones. I spent a lot of time shouting for people to keep left because of the marathon runners coming through and so many just didn't hear as they had both ears covered. I myself run with music but only do one ear so I'm able to hear what's going on around me.

Well organised (if a little expensive).

Only downside was the congestion as 10k runners met half marathoners on the Itchen bridge. Way too busy there.

It was brilliant! I ran for the first time, enjoyed run with other children, my mum and dad supported me a lot! I really liked idea to see Mascot characters, my medal at the end and t- shirt. We traveled from Crawley. I was told during the race in fun mile was about 600 children. And results showed I came 5th of my age group. I am only 9 years old. Never ran before in the past.

My first half Marathon. Course was fine, Bridge near the end was evil! Hot temp on the day, needed more water stations.

After the first mile the race was excellent. Loved the route and having the bridge at the end is better then at the beginning. The first mile was let down by being too narrow and with many participants standing in the wrong place (too far forward for their race pace). I saw many runners including myself who almost ran in to the back of others who were spread out across the narrow route with their friends running slowly. Not really your fault as it stated quite clearly where each runner should be. As I said, after the first mile it was excellent though.

Third time running, very good as always!
- I preferred last years route to be honest, ending with Itchen bridge was not enjoyable!
- Really quick on the bagging which was good
- **** was nice, T shirt is a good design
- I didn't see a half way sign which there was last year which is helpful
- if there was a way of making the full marathon a bit more interesting rather than simply two loops I would sign up for it (figure of 8 or something?

It was a good race, nice atmosphere and lots of people cheering you on which is fantastic- even ordinary bystanders. However, I prefer the race route from 2 years ago where you had Itchen Bridge at the beginning of the race, as it felt like you had accomplished something and this motivated you to continue the race. Having Itchen Bridge at mile 10 made me exhausted this time around and I hated the last three miles, despite being a frequent half marathon runner. I felt so demotivated after that it was hard to get to the finish line, especially when you had to go through another park! I know a lot of other people who felt anxious about itchen bridge and spent the whole race feeling that way which isn't what you want!

It was really good experience! Lots of people supporting all the runners, good locations and logistics. The only thing I'd like to change - more music bands on the way!

I really enjoyed the 10K race and event day!! And I managed to get a great PB as well!
I think the route should be better planed - the signs were not clear and there were people going the wrong way. Also, the route was different from the one sent on the post/website.
Thank you so much for giving XS t-shirt this year!!! I'm glad to see previous years feedback was taking into account.
Well done Rees Leisure! :)
