Both the Australian Shepard and the Border Collie have been using the educator. After only a couple of days use, we only need to use the vibrate mode and beep mode in order to recall them and provide positive reinforcement for their effort. Although the collars have shorter battery life before needing a recharge, we recharge them every second night and that works like a charm.

A perfect tool for your dog. Even though my dog was trained with leash and knew all of the commands sometimes off leash he would not listen to me. After a few weeks of training with mini educator the dog is totally different off leash (9 months old pitbull mix).
Now I can walk with him off leash in the forest no problems.
Battery life is extremely good.
I wish every dog owner read about e-collar training and would look at me like i am shocking my dog. This is the most humane way to train the dog.

As long as it's used to break fixation and bring to attention for training, it is an excellent tool to utilize. This is not meant to be used as punishment or in a fit of anger, though some idiots do that. This is meant to be used by a patient trainer and to better understand the collar (as well as what your dog may experience) I encourage everyone to use it on themselves, with contact points on the palm. Start at 1. Go up level by level until it's bearable but uncomfortable (no pain). Repeat this process with the dog and pay close attention. You'll find that your dog's threshold will be much lower than your own (most dogs won't go into the double digits). Former bait dogs or dogs with strong prey drives may go into the double digits, but this is uncommon. Always wipe the prongs and your dog's neck after each use. Use hypoallergenic contact points (sold separately to avoid allergic reactions if your dog as skin allergies or sensitive skin.

I purchased this because I have used one with my daughter’s German Shepard (and a Doodle). It worked very well with them in all aspects. I expect that my Shepard will respond to tone/vibrate only soon.
One thing to note: if you are a new user, read the manual. They’ve done a good job using limited buttons, but you can’t just turn it on and go. Reading the manual well will make your user experience better.
Battery life and durability are very good. I personally like one of the snap lock collars for ease of taking on and off.

Bought it because nothing would stop my 5 month old German Shepherd from barking at other dogs. Tried avoidance, discipline, positive reinforcement, pronged collars, etc.) He had been fine around other dogs, and then one day, boom!, he barked at every animal and every person he saw when walking him or taking him somewhere. I mean, incessant barking! It got to the point that I couldn't take him anywhere. The ET-800 pretty much solved this problem in one day. As a matter of fact, I just took him to Pet Smart today, and he was the perfect dog! I would highly recommend.
Manual is well written and easy to read. Very easy to learn how to set-up the collar and remote control. Everything appears to be made of high quality and also comes in a very nice carrying case. I have only used the ET-800 so far for curbing bad behavior, and as mentioned, it works great! Note: It has also stopped him from chasing cats, etc when walking him down the road off-leash. May try if for training him to obey commands. However, I need to watch the video again before taking this next step.
