Shun Combination Whetstone - 300/1000 Grit (DM0708)
I was looking for a good combination stone to resurrect our Henkles knives. The 300 grit was great for resurrecting the edges by getting rid of nicks. The 1000 grit put a nice smooth edge on the edge after. I also used a 5000 grit to get the final razor sharp edge. My recommendation is to get a dressing stone to flatten out the stone after each use.

Shun Classic 9pc Block Set - HOK Exclusive (DMS0932)
After a lot of research on kitchen knives, I decided that my best bet would be a nice Japanese set. But I found that most sets were priced out of my range until I found these. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Not only are these knife beautiful to look at, they work as well as they look.
Right out of the box, they are SHARP. They are INSANELY sharp. I did some test cutting of random produce, comparing with the 16 year old Henckels set that I am replacing. To be fair, I gave the Henckels a quick sharpening to get their edges as good as possible. But the old knives were out matched. The Shun knives were a nicer weight, better balance, cleaner cutting - and waaaay nicer looking.
I am going to have to adjust my cutting technique and watch my fingers as these perform different than any knives I have ever used. I'll hang onto some of my old knives for "guest cooks" in my kitchen to use - for their protection.
House of Knives had them shipped quickly and I will be a returning customer to add to my set over time.

Beautiful knife. Feels good in the hand and is VERY sharp. The block could have two larger slots in it vs what there is. However, I am very pleased with the product.
