The Caly 3 feels like a Spyderco Delica 4 with a finger choil; which is to say it's an excellent knife overall!

The G10 handles are a nice shade of green and provide an excellent balance between offering sufficient traction while not being so rough as to wear excessively on pants material. Equipped with Spyderco's stellar deep carry wire clip, this knife disappears into the pocket. While it may be heavier compared to other similar sized knives, the extra weight helps the knife to feel substantial in-hand while the milled out steel liners help to keep the weight down so as to not make it cumbersome in the pocket. The knife also features Spyderco's signature leaf-shaped blade in the wonderful HAP40 steel. This tough and non-stainless steel will take a great edge and has great wear resistance and also has the benefit here of being clad in stainless steel to aid in corrosion resistance. Lastly, it's completely ambidextrous!

Despite all the great things about this knife there are a few complaints that take away a little from it:
- It features pinned construction (excepting the pivot screw), so it can't be disassembled for maintenance
- The stainless cladding on the blade is fairly soft and will collect signs of wear readily with regular use
- Fit and finish is good, but not great on my example; there are some gaps in the construction and some evidence of the machining on the knife
- The knife is intended to be gripped using the choil; when holding the knife further back on the handle, the grip felt a little cramped

I have used Spyderco Ceramic hones for decades ... often in my trade sharpening hand-engraving tools.
My purchase of the Spyderco Sharpmaker Triangle Stone Ultra-Fine is for home and sports use ... for the final touch-up of an already sharp blade, putting on the perfect edge.
The Ultra-Fine hone essentially leaves a mirror-finish on hardened steel.
I hold it and use it like one would a file, carefully watching the edge angle, a few light strokes brings the blade to perfect sharpness.

I acquired a Katz knife for my son earlier this year and he absolutely loved it. As a geologist who spends lots of time in the wilds of B.C., it has become his go to knife. Having the need for one myself, I purchased another Katz knife and was not disappointed. It’s well crafted and looks great. I expect it will be a handy tool for years to come.

Description for this knife is wrong. It is NOT flexible and the blade is not particularly long. It does however look like a great skinning knife and is wonderfully sharp. Will pass it on to a relative who hunts and can put it to good use. Two stars to get the attention of whoever is writing descriptions. Would be five stars if it was a knife I could use.

This is a beautiful practical blade, one I will carry daily.

- clip bends easily
- doesn’t hold a edge all that great
- heavy

Ugly:
- carry style will lead it to open easily in your pocket, lots of surprise hand-stabs

Overall I’ve been using this knife as an edc for over 2 years and finally decided to retire it. Good value for the price.
