I think most of the reviews I have seen are accurate, so I'll try to add some different perspectives. First, I will have to say I am overwhelmingly satisfied with this bike. I'm an avid rider and have ridden many, many thousands of miles on road trips. Five years ago I suffered a very serious heart attack followed by a cardiac arrest. The docs told me that my 300-600 mile bike-trip days were over. These days most of my rides are for exercise and run 20-30 miles. Over the years I have developed the habit of 'attacking' hills. I want to get to the top as fast as I can. I've always figured it was a good way to 'clean out the system,' so-to-speak. My docs do not want me to attack hills these days. They say 'take it easy on the hills, boy...' Enter, Luna Fixed, with electric pedal-assist. This bike makes hills a completely different experience. I dial up the assist level two clicks and I'm riding up long hills with ease. Not without effort, but really nice... Docs are happy, I'm happy. Now, a few details to add. I live in Minnesota. I started riding in March with temps in the low forties. I figured the Luna's battery life would greatly suffer, but I wanted to test it out. I have been very impressed. I can't actually detect any reduction in range. This has surprised me. With modest assist levels I can easily ride 30 miles in cold weather.(!) Another item that concerned me was how it rides with zero assist. Does it ride like a similar, un-powered, bike? Many e-bikes, with huge motors and heavy batteries simply are unride-able with pedal power only. With no assist turned on this bike is still quite ride-able, but it feels a bit like riding a heavy, older bike. Riding at the lowest assist level, very little battery power is used and it reduces that somewhat sluggish feeling. Riding at level 3 out of five, the bike is quite lively and power consumption is still really quite low. Just click to 4-5 for hills. It's a dream. My bike arrived in excellent shape. It needed almost no adjustments of any kind. I ordered a size-large. I'm a little over six-two and 200 pounds. It's a good size. I added SPD pedals, ergonomic grips, a trunk bag and rack and I'm adding a shock absorbing seat post as the all-aluminum ride is quite stiff after being spoiled by carbon all these years. Coming up, maybe carbon forks for a little more smoothness for this 73 year-old body. I find the brakes to be excellent. I would like slightly higher gearing, but this IGH is a good choice and reasonably light compared to the alternatives - and will get you where you want to go 90 percent of the time. (I do miss 27 speeds, but I still have that bike available if I miss them too much.) Overall, I'm really satisfied!

I needed the 22” extension cable for my recumbent speedometer connection...it was just enough...worked out great. Luna shipped this out very quickly.

So glad I bought this for my build. I have peace of mind that the motor will stay in place.

Great kit. I shopped around, but for the overall price Luna just beat everyone else. The Luna Wolf battery was also a big reason I purchased this kit. It is well made and rugged. Yes, more expensive than some others, but with batteries you get what you pay for.
Shipping was fast, and the consistent emails kept me in the loop on my order. No doubt I made the right choice to but my kit here. No regrets.

Well built, charges slow but sure, took 1 star off because it's noisey.

I really like the fact that I can set my charger for a partial charge and then top it off in the morning before a ride. I am told it will prolong the life of my battery. I am 100% pleased A friend told me about this charger and said he was going to get one to replace the single stage charger he has now. The single stage is too much trouble. Glad I took his advice.

The Review.
Initial set up of the bike was pretty easy. I had the pedal addition to it. Which it works but doesn’t seem super strong and reliant. Remember to loc tight everything as I lost two bolts I didn’t lock tight thinking they were horizontal I won’t loose them.
Performance of the bike. Freaking awesome I’m 220 and my son is 40 and I double him around everywhere. About going up hills. I think I might make a modification to be able to use a brake and throttle together. For tight corners through the forest it’s hard to be on and off on the break throttle. But speed I made it up a mountain with it no problem got it down to 50% by the time a was at the bottom of the mountain Regen brought it back up to 65%

100% easier than trying to install washers. Fits perfectly. Defiantly a no brainer

Awesome bike! This is my first ebike and I went back and forth between this and the Apollo. I chose this because I wanted a bike that would “fit in” on the trail. I use it for a mt bike not a motorcycle. And it’s awesome. Battery is perfect size for this bike. I’m 240 pounds with my gear. I’m riding single track about 15 miles round trip from my house. I usually come back with over 60% battery. I have ludicrous and silent gear. This bike is a mountain goat. Set it up for your riding style and you will be ecstatic. I replaced the front sprocket with a 40 tooth. I’m also looking at possibly a Rohloff.

These are great bags, durable, easy to secure to the frame and roomy inside. Easily fits a 20S 16aH Lipo set-up and has reinforced holes for wiring. I've ordered 2 from Luna and both have been great bags.

Charger works great.

This upgrade was well worth my time and money. My X1's motor is much quieter now. Make sure you have the necessary tools, grease and mechanical aptitude if you're doing it yourself. Luna's installation video was very helpful also.

Great bike. Lots of fun to ride. Powerful. My only complaint is that it is very loud. I paid extra for the silencer, and still it is crazy loud. My wife has a Bosch powered ebike, and it is dead silent. I was hoping this bike would be a bit more stealth, but it isn’t. Still a great bike, if noise isn’t a concern. Can’t imagine what the non-silenced version sounds like...

Great company and service

I can clearly recommended this throttle option as the best all-around throttle for multiple reasons. Most importantly it surpasses the full twist throttle because it doesn't take up that extra inch on the right side of the handlebar which forces your brake lever to be farther away in some cases almost out of reach. Also if you do any kind of trail riding or jumping the thumb throttle is much more responsive as well as being much easier to get on and off of when your going over that rough terrain and need to maintain a tight grip on the handlebars. My only complaint is that you have to take it apart and super glue in a little piece of rubber approximately quarter inch wide so that the throttle engages as soon as you start pushing on it rather than needing to push the thumb throttle 25 or 30% of its travel before it engages. Not a huge problem, just a necessary modification in my opinion. Still very worth it though...

Excellent product! This is exactly what I was envisioning to help stabilize the BBSHD. Would definitely recommend to anyone that uses their e-bike off road or under other harsh conditions. Thanks Luna for your wonderful service!

Good bike for getting up hills where I live. Love that I can fit it in a car easily. Has plenty of power for riding around town.
