Awesome kit at a great price. I changed from a direct drive rear hub motor to the mid-drive 02 kit and i was able to double the range of my bike with the same battery. I now can go faster and get up hills easier due to the fact that I can take advantage of the bike's gearing. Also the handling and ride improved by moving the motor from the rear wheel to the bottom bracket.

Excellent charger. I love how it is totally adjustable for amps and percentage.

This bike is a KHS SF-7500 with a Bafang engine BBSHD witha a 2500w controller and a shark battery of 52v and 13.5 ah., It has drive train composed of: Lekkie 42 tooth, a 11-50 Sunrace cassette 11sp, Shimano SLX 180/160mm hyd brake system. Very Kool climbing and developing 45 mph on flat surfaces.

The Sur Ron is a remarkable bike that is so well engineered and built I have no idea how it can be offered at its price point. But it’s true asset is how much fun it is to ride!

I put a BBSHD motor and Wolf battery on an older downhill mountain bike to make a commuter bike. I work 15 miles away and the roads arent great so I needed a really solid bike!

PROS-

Motor is great, not too tricky to install although it did take a few hours to get everything hooked up and manage all the cables.

Freaking fun to ride! I fly by bikers on regular bikes on my way to work. I still get a workout riding using pedal assist but it makes the trip much more managable that if i was on a regular bike.

CONS-

Communication with Luna Cycle was pretty poor to be honest. First the battery was backordered and nobody told me, so I waited a few weeks. Then, once the battery was in stock, the display was out of stock and nobody told me so I think it was about two months until I finally got everything. I asked about my order several times and got very short, unapolagetic responses.

Battery doesnt last quite as long as Id hoped. I ride 15 miles to work and back and have it set to pedal assist 3 out of 5. About 25 miles in, 5 miles away from home, the battery is really sluggish, like maybe 45 volts or less. Barely assisting. But for 25 miles the motor is working really hard and i am able to go to 15 miles in 40 min when it takes me 25 min in a car. So overall pretty good I just have to bring my charger to work or else I am struggling to make it home on a really heavy bike.

I am 80 years old I have been riding since the 50s this Sur Ron puts a smile on my face.

Excellent purchase ! Everything went smooth from the purchase up to the delivery. Well packaged for shipping. I live in Canada and took about 1-1/2 weeks to receive. Build quality was #1. The only thing i had to adjust was the rear chain shifter for proper shifting. Highly recommend Luna Cycle for all your e-bike needs !!

I saw the sale for the entire ebike kit online. I’d read a few articles but couldn’t see myself dropping that much money for a kit. After all, how much more would I be able to do than my regular bike that I already commuted on. Boy am I glad I changed my mind. 1. I saved a ton of money and headache by purchasing the kit at the promotional sale price. 2. This thing is so fun. It saves me tons of time on my commute and I can’t wipe the smile off my face.

Everything (BBSHD kit, 52 volt battery pack, upgraded display) arrived in a timely fashion according to the order and worked A-OK. A battery lead and speed sensor splice was required to accommodate the length of this design but not a huge issue... some wire, a bit of soldering and shrink wrap did the trick. We found a cheaper price on the internet but after having received XLNT customer service in the past from Luna, continue to be a satisfied customer. Thanks to the crew!

It's been a challenge to figure everything out but Luna Cycle and the community provided lots of resources to help me get the job done!

Few small hiccups but luna came thru in the end.

I bought a Bafang BBSHD kit with 52v wolf battery to convert my rockhopper 29ers and i'm very enjoying my build ! There was a problem with my original battery pack and the Luna team gave me an outstanding support ! Thank you very much !

I have had great success with my two fat tire builds and have two more in the garage waiting. The Luna Lander fat fork works very well with these bikes I purchased from Costco. I was hoping you would re-stock the 52 volt shark pack so I can start my other builds. Please tell me your not going to discontinue them!! they fit these bikes perfectly with the BBSHD's. Just got back from 4 days in Big Bear and the bikes worked great and turned a lot of heads. We averaged 25 miles in the mountains using mostly the 2 power setting. Very happy with your products. Can you E-mail me back the status of the 52 shark pack. Looking forward to my next two builds for my buddies and will be purchasing the forks, mid-drive kits and batteries as soon as possible.

I have a Love / Hate relationship with LunaCycles. When I found the Lunacycles and the Bafang line of mid-drive motor kits, I knew it was what I needed for my Family Limo (Dutch) bike build. So I had some initial questions on what I needed, Luna pointed me in the right direction and answered other questions. that got me moving in the right direction. Since I was completely making a new bike (like 90%) I went with the BAFANG ULTRA MAGNESIUM MOTOR EBIKE MID DRIVE (1500 Watts). I got the order in the mail fairly quickly, nicely packed. But I had to discover that it was missing the Display and Isis crank arms. Kind of key components. The part I really hated is that "I" had to discover this. Luna didn't know or at least it was not documented in the system that it was only partiality filled. When emailed, they quickly sent the crank arms, but the display I had to wait over 30 more days... The display was outside of Luna's hand, in fact they were waiting on it themselves for their builds from Bafang. Where I knock LunaCycles is that for one they didn't tell me this when I bought it that not all the parts where in stock. But worse they didn't take down the order page for another ~25 days, letting others get into the same position. Easily avoided. They have not take down that webpage.

But many times I have emailed them and they are pretty responsive, could be better, but you get a sense that they are just around the corner ready to help you make your bike the best it can be. I feel like I'm helping a small US company get started. Yes, they have some issues, Website, inventory control, shipping quality, etc. But they seem like a very cool company I want to work with. Love / Hate. :)

Okay so things to note to help LunaCycles improve.
- Inventory control
* (You must know if you have all the pieces or at least the lead time, before you sell something. Then know that you can get it.)
- Website
* (You must tell your customers when you out of stock on something!!!, it's not the worst thing to tell a customer, just say out of stock but should be available by the 5th)
* (You guys sell so much stuff which is awesome, but from your website you may only be able to navigate to 30% of it. You need to revamp your categories, subcategories, and search engine. If you look at your sitemap you have way more out there)
- Shipping Quality
* (If you can't complete a full order it's okay, just communicate that to your customer email and packing slip)
- Shipping Estimates
* (Orders should be filled the next business day. I have a feeling that often it is 2~4 days before you fill them. I can only guess because, sometimes it shouldn't take this only to bet product to your customer. Example. I ordered a bafang cable on June 20th (Wed) and upgraded shipping to USPS Priority get it by Sat. One the 21'st at 10pm I got an email stating "Your order has been shipped". Great should be here by Saturday then, I now check on Sat at 8pm on the USPS website and it only states "Pre-Shipment June 22, 2018 at 3:14 am, Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item" ....So whom is lying?? Was it shipped on the Thursday or did they just create a label for it and send an email? Again NOT a great customer experience.)
- Website shipping choices
* (Don't let someone pay extra when you don't even have it in stock or ready to ship. You should tell your customers, Option A will likely arrive in x days, Option B will likely arrive in Y days, etc. Then make it happen.)
- Documentation
* LunaCycles is really missing the mark on documentation and having it easily accessible. You need a Documentation tab, with ALL the documents you have. Then you should also be able to get to manuals from the product pages.)
- Parts
* I think LunaCycles need to sell adapter parts for Bafang and the other motors they sell. Meaning that if someone is building their own bike they might be doing a lot of customization to it. So don't just sell a 10 inch extension cable, sell a connectors with leads off of it some someone can make a cable that fits 100% on their bike. Also if your selling lights and such and then need to be triggered by switches and relays / mosfets then sell those as kits too. Give the customer everything they need to get their bike working. If you make the customer go to another site, they may never come back.)

Bafang Ultra 1500 watt motor kit. I love it. It is pretty quite kicks butt. This bike of mine is like no other. It is light for a metal bike but it all adds up. I'm guessing 40~50 lbs including battery and motor. I have now taken it on two test runs, no display running. But man when it kicks in it really kicks in. We only have hills here, so it really tests me. On I'm disabled with a lung disorder, so I can't exert myself much. But with the assistance of the motor, it's like I'm 15 years old again. :) I was able to pedal up a 30% grade with out breaking a sweat or even hitting the throttle. Very cool. I just need better breaks now...

Had to get a new main gear, for my BBshd, it was shipped with out really any grease not from Luna (they know better) my parts came fast with no Duty charges to Canada. It's all gooood.
