I was referred to Luna by V bikes, a non profit based in Rutland, Vt. that serves the entire state. I was able to borrow E bikes to try from Local Motion in Burlington, Vt. My wife and I tried E bikes and thought they would be helpful. We are both retired and live five miles from the nearest store. We both hate to waste gas driving to town, especially for the small stuff. After our three day free E bike test, courtesy of Local Motion I ordered a 750 watt mid-motor and installed it on an antique cad1Cannondale. We both tried and enjoyed the conversion. I then ordered a kit for a bike for my wife. I installed it on an antique schwin mountain bike. Since I already had the motor install tool and the whale ue8o battery was not available at the time I ordered the kit for my wife,there was a savings. I spent that savings on a pair of take-off wheels with tires and a seven speed nexus internally geared hub and a twist shifter included. I built the schwin beast,it was really heavy. I could not resolve an issue with the chain. The drop outs on the bike were vertical and I could not properly tension the chain. After about 100 miles. I switched the kit an old mountain bike with horizontal dropouts and the chain issue is better. I am still waiting for the two of us to make a twenty mile ride without finding a need to work on one of the bikes. I have over 400 miles on my Cannondale and feel I am getting it where I want it. I've swapped out my original wheel because I was getting gear slippage in high gear and there was wear on the cassette. The bikes are great fun too ride. My 70 year old legs smile when I get back to house after each ride. We are uphill from everywhere we can go. Last summer was the first time or Vermont hills made me get off and walk. I have both bikes set with raised handle bars. The wind and hills are no longer a limiting factor. As I become familiar with riding the motorized system I am learning how to get more from my battery. I think I could go nearly 100 miles on a charge because I pedal all the time.

Good experience fast delivery

The only bad point was the package company delivered it to the wrong address and i had a stressful day sorting out which had nothing to do with luna cycle by the way.

i started out with my donor frame which was my old hardtail Marin.

I then i got to designing a few bits for the bike on the 3d printer, eg controller mounts, controller covers, battery case, chain guard.

it took me about a week to get all that done, by this time i am eager to get building so i get all my parts together and begin.

first i checked to see if the motor mounts are going to allow me to set the motor where i want it to sit eg mid frame.
It would not fit so i put the build on hold and designed some longer motor mounts and had them cut and bent at a local metal factory.

Once i had them back i put the motor in then began to build my battery pack 72v 20s sanyo-ncr18650ga-3500mah-10a, about 2 hours later the pack was built and installed, I fitted the controller and charged up the battery and went on my first ride..

I have got to say it was a hell of a lot of fun the motor has got so much torque and speed i couldn't quite be-leave it, but it was at this time i found my first teething problem.

it was my motor mounts :(, the motor has that much torque that is actually twisting the motor in the frame when i throttle on to quick.

i designed some new mounts and i am waiting for them to get back so i can go out riding again and will of hopefully fixed my issue but all in all the experience was a good one.

What a fun bike. I'm 50 , 5'9", 180 lb. It fits me good. No problems with bike. Skid plate is lacking in strength. I get about 22 miles of tight trails, hill climbs and aggressive riding on a charge. The seat is uncomfortable and bruised me the first few rides. It's fine now that my ass has gotten used to it.

Mods:
* 60 tooth sprocket. Speedometer is off now but so much more power for climbing and wheelies. Top speed 21 mph eco/ 32mph sport. Measured by GPS
* Hand guards/bark busters.
* Stem riser. It's comfortable to ride standing up now.
* Disconnected brake safety cut off. More control for wheelies and on hills from a stop.
* Phone stem mount

Fitted the Luna Lander fork to my Specialized Fatboy, very easy with a straight-to-taper adapter. Awesome for forest riding, this fork handles bumps and roots smoothly. Excellent option if you don't have a thru-axle front hub. Cheers guys!

I installed the 2 speed hub on my travel bike Friday . I have had the bafang hd midrive and the 02 but like the pure throttle for a change. I live in Hawaii and am back and forth to California. First motor just quit crossing the border in Tijuana. I've got 400 miles on this and going strong!

Since I shift with the right hand and most apply the brake with the right hand (rear brake), it made more sense to install this twist throttle on the left. It turns the opposite of how a motorcycle throttle does, so if that's going to be an issue for you, then I wouldn't recommend setting it up this way. But I'm already used to it, didn't take long for muscle memory to kick in and so I set up all my ebikes this way.

At first I didn’t think it was much help for doing exercise but now it motivates me to go out and paddle. Fun to ride, fast on hills and plenty of willies.

As my first ebike build I chose a Gravity Bullseye Monster XX fat tire bike. I utilized the forums and Luna's great customer service to get through the build. It was much easier than I anticipated and everything went smoothly. The bike works well and now I am considering a build for my wife. The only thing missing is the Luna Eclipse chain ring which will be installed in the future. The new Luna Wolf batteries are excellent and well worth the money.

This is my daily commuter. It’s a Spevislized Rockhopper with the BBSHD motor and Wolf battery pack. Couldn’t be happier. Well done Luna!

I love my sur Ron I have over 80 miles on it so far.suspension I can ride 4 hours on a single charge off-road single-track Hills and still make it home with 20 30%. I added a front fender seems to help. I wish the light had an on and off switch. At first the front suspension feels super soft, but seems like it is getting better.

I work in their neighborhood and literally knocked on their door one day. The gentleman that helped me was great, listening to my needs and collecting a kit that I walked out with in less than an hour. I later learned that they ONLY do scheduled purchase pickups! THANK YOU for being AWESOME. It went together quickly, and has worked extremely well so far after about 50 miles of cruising. She does 35 mph on the flats in 3rd gear. Will pull a trainee with the kids and all our stuff (that’s got to be 300+ lbs PLUS the bike). I don’t pedal, and I was flying uphill, towing the kids, passing fit cyclists at 25mph just cruising. It was hilarious! This thing is a riot. Luna, you make great product. I’m planning another custom street build now. Wife is going to kill me, so this one might be for her.
