We love the conversions! Luna delivered as advertized. We are in our mid-60's and needed a little extra punch on hills and the BBS02 works like a charm. Now we can get off the couch and once again enjoy the outdoors.

After much consideration and research I decided to retrofit my 1995 Diamondback Sorrento MTB with a BBS02, Luna color display, and 52V Shark Pack. The kit was delivered quickly, had it shipped to work so it I could receive it personally. It came well packed in a box from a BBSHD fatbike motor which concerned me until I realized they just reused the box.
I had actually removed the bottom bracket before ordering the kit which went very easily and without drama. I took my time installing the kit as I had opportunity and finished it late April.
First ride was uneventful and running the Luna configuration the lower PAS levels seem too powerful but I will mess around with the settings later on as I gain experience.
I like how it turned out and hope to use my Sorrento as a commuter during nice weather.

Really impressed with the mid-drive kit and battery pack. All the videos and resources online made the install pretty straightforward. I'd ridden a couple factory built ebikes and I'm really glad I decided to make my own with the mid-drive kit. I live in a really hilly area and this combo was perfect for my daily commute to and from the train which is about 10 miles. With the 44T front sprocket and the stock rear sprocket supplied with my 3 speed Shimano IGH, top speed is about 28mph on flats in the tallest gear and I can climb fairly steep hills without stressing out the motor/battery, even when being lazy using the throttle to spin the bike up in 1st gear.

This is the second recumbent I've converted with one of your kits. So easy and quick to install. The performance is fantastic. We ride a lot on trails in our area and also take them camping. They see a lot of both paved and gravel trails. Some pretty steep. With the pedal assist just keep going and going. I've had a couple of strokes so some days I just can't pedal must but that doesn't stop us from having a great time and seeing lots of sights. If the need ever arises I'll quickly buy another kit from you. And I recommend them to everyone how stops us and asks about our recumbents. Happy with the bike thanks for the support at Luna cycle for the low voltage cut off issue with the new charger and after talking with tech and a long drive to El Segundo I was riding thanks Luna cycles awesome product and staff can I improve performance and purchase parts from you I need the threaded front axle button I have disconnected rear brake cutoff added front fender and I probably put at least 20-30 miles every day Where I live is large hills and Santiago peaks on the narrow or rutted or steep inclines and downhills this machine is unparalleled So I already need more power but don’t want to lose top end. Recommend Luna cycle and this bike to anyone.Since I ride so much people always want to checkout the bike and ask about it thank you one very satisfied customer

Been riding a bullitt cargo bike for years. Wish I put the Bafang BBSHD on it ages ago. GAME CHANGER. IM so fast now! I get almost 80 miles out of a 100% charge on a 52 v triangle battery. so good!

It took me almost 6 months to complete this project , but it is finally done, my GT avalanche 27.5 rims, with BBS02B and 48v 13AH battery, hydraulic brakes with cut-off, gear sensor, C963 LCD, Lekkie 46t chainring (all thanks to Luna Cycles and Eric Hicks )
Im from Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, and it took a long time to get the battery, BMS and charger right for the BBS02B! But it was all worthy ! The bike is awesome! it performs so much better then i think it would! Today i made the second test drive and i got so happy with how it performed on hills and on the flats! i am a 200 pound rider and i got more then 30mph on the flats! the THANKS LUNA CYCLES AND Eric Hicks! looking forward to getting more BBSXX from you guys!

Wonderful motor build from lunacycle

I built this beautiful bike by hand and it won Best Electric Bike at the 2018 OBC Cruiser Con in Las Vegas . It rides great and makes it fun and easy to meet the ladies!

Setup is for adventure biking. I just want to explore and go places, nothing fancy, no jumps no super fast downhill. The bike is a Motobecane Phantom Boost 27.5 plus bike 18" frame, with BBS02 Mid drive. Sporting lunacycle 52v 24Ah GA triangle battery, 30t mighty mini chainring and 11-42t cassette. Luna triangle bag. I love this setup!

BBS02:
Great little motor for Adventure biking. Plenty of climbing ability with the 30t might mini. It uses less juice than the BBSHD, which for adventure biking, its all about range and this setup has it!. Great balance of climbing power and battery life at the expense of some top end speed. I have some 500 miles on motor so far and its holding up great.

Mighty MINI 30t CHAIN RING:
A must have in my opinion for the BBS02. BBS02 is less powerful than its counterpart the BBSHD, but with the 30T gearing, it is an unstoppable mule/goat of the super steep mountain trails. The 30T will max speed on my setup at just about 26mph on 11t and 7mph in low gear 42t.

BATTERY: Super huge range! 14s7p. I have yet to wear out this battery completely on a single trip. I always get tired first. 47 miles is the farthest ive gone yet in tough full throttle hilly terrain off-road. Very little voltage sag at full throttle compared to the two 13.5Ah 52v shark packs 14s4p i own which WILL sag to 52v when full charge at full throttle. The spec i found shows GA batteries losing only about 15% of their rated energy (Amp hour rating) when fully loaded( for comparison; a lead acid battery, if you care to know loses a whopping 75% under full load). The point being; With the 7p configuration of the 24ah triangle pack you will never have to worry about sagging the battery and losing precious energy from high current losses. IF you want crazy range this is it!!! However, I would not recommend this battery if you plan on doing short trips or trips to public places. The 24 Ah battery IS HEAVY and bulky for a short day trip and if you want to "down hill" like a mountain bike, you will be HEAVY and sluggish. Public places with this battery make me nervous as i have no way to lock it up.

BATTERY BAG:
Luna battery bag hook and loop (velcro) is rough on the underside and scratches the paint really bad on the frame (beware!). Bag is a bit oversized even for the largest of batteries (e.g. the 24ah 52v). This means it shifts around in the bag which causes me concern for the battery safety. Recommend two changes 1. size the bag a bit smaller. 2. use softer material under the Velcro loops so as not to scratch paint. I would look elsewhere for a bag if i had it all to do again. But its not so bad that ive abandoned the bag. I have room for a spare tire in there too!

This was my first build, used my Kona Sutra. This bike has always been a super solid commuter and this upgrade takes it completely next level.
The power of the BBSHD is more than satisfying. I’m commuting in urban areas with hills and this motor performs beautifully. More power is not necessary for safe and exciting riding in the city.
The first thing I will change is my gear situation. I find myself not really having the need for many gears at all. I’m going to try single speed, and if that feels lacking then I’ll try 3 speed IGH.
Secondly, I wish I would have gone for a bigger battery. I got the mighty mini which is great for running a few errands around town, however on a nice sunny day I want to ride for much longer than the battery allows. The wolf pack is on my wishlist.
I have experienced so much joy not only riding this bike but sharing it with others. I’ve seen a grown man cry from pure giddiness, and my friend’s wife bought a kit from Luna mere hours after she tried mine for the first time.

On my door in a week . Everything was perfect and fit exactly as advertised ..installed in 3 hours and flying down the road at 32 mph ..my kids think its so cool..highly recommend ..but do your research on your bike ..i measured and spent 3 weeks learning what exact parts i needed and what would fit..thank you luna cycle..

The electric bike kit I purchased through Luna Cycle is a amazing.

Ordered the Sur-Ron in green, it arrived in perfect condition. Added a 58T sprocket on the rear. This machine is a hill climber. Very fun, super tough, handles good, and the craftsmen ship amazes me, especially at this price point.

This was a build for a customer. He demanded more power than he needed, and had to dial back the performance to balance with the style of the bike. This was easily done through programming, but took several tries. After nearly a year, the customer is very pleased with the bike, and how it rides. A couple of minor issues with the components were promptly handled by Luna Cycle.

Built my fat e-Bike just over a year ago, 1000+ miles later having a great time. Reliable parts from Luna and great support when questions came up!
