eBikes are not just about fat tires, humungous batteries, and 50 lb+ overweight bikes. They cans still look awesome "stealth" with BBSHD, 52V Mighty Mini battery and skinny tires! And yes I will wear my spandex and colorful jerseys when I ride this Road Rat. hahaha

Installing some upgrade parts for my current e-bike I bought from Luna Cycles.

I got the BBSHD 120 mm version along with the 120 mm PF41 BB adapter. Unfortunately the BB of the Mukluk is not straight through but has a lip in the middle part of the BB. I had to use an angle grinder to make the PF41 adapter about 1 mm smaller diameter so it would slide through the BB of the Mukluk. No big deal but I have never done it before so it was a learning experience. A couple hours later it was sliding through no problem. The rest of the build went very smoothly. I have done one other build before using a standard BBSHD on my Specialized mountain bike. Once you have the tools (get the BBSHD wrench for tightening the nut) and know-how it is a breeze and fun to do.

I needed a bike to get me to work , which is a 35 mile round trip and includes a 1500 foot climb, With travel time one way under an hour. The BBSHD and 52v 24AH battery did the trick. I’m able to make the round trip on a single charge . Bike is pretty fast and handles well , the weight is low and centered between the wheels .Not difficult to get to 30 mph (fast pedaling) .
The build was pretty straight forward , had to order additional spacers for the BBSHD and the Luna chain ring. It’s really fun to ride . I wasn’t sure about the triangle battery , I like the look of the frame mount batteries, but I’m so glad I got the larger battery , I like to ride fast so I can just make the commute without hitting the low voltage cutoff.
Time will tell but so far I love it.

The Luna crew was very helpful and answered all my questions promptly. I look forward to finishing up the cargo bike and giving the Bafang a workout!

Great fun, has completely changed my 16 mile commute to work on nice days, went from sitting in traffic to having a blast. Have no range problems getting in on 80% charge with the 13.5 dolphin pack.

Great chainring, crank and freewheel set. I really like the divider between the 2 chains. It’s pretty tough getting a chain out from between the 2 sprockets of a stock chainring setup when you’re on the road with minimal tools. No worries with this one!

These folks know what they’re doing, and they sell what works. The rest is up to you. If you don’t do your research and learn as much as you can about what you’re getting into you may just have problems. Hint: use the internet - all the info in the world is out there. Google is your friend.

Very much enjoyed the process of a 3000 watt cyclone build. Great people with unmatched knowledge in all categories!

The Luna Cycle website was extremely easy to use and I found various documentation that eased me into the ebiking world. Every product had various options and I found my premade battery after only a day of researching the available builds. Overall, I would definitely order from Luna Cycles again.

So... I received my new e bike from FedEx today. The package arrived in good shape and the contents were packaged well and everything was in perfect order. It took about an hour to slowly unpack and assemble the bike. Note to use the cardboard top to protect the bike when installing the front wheel by flipping it upside-down. I received the upgraded magnesium forks at no charge which was a nice surprise. The bike went together well with no surprises. Note that I am very picky, and I have to say the bike did not have a single flaw that I noticed. The battery came with a 60% charge, so topping it off to 100% took only an hour or so. My first impression is very good. Taking a few quick runs around my neighborhood, I was able to hit 43 MPH indicated. Acceleration is appropriate, but more could always be used. To change the dash from KPH to MPH you just need to power it off and on with the little button depressed. The rear suspension spring comes unsprung, and will require a spanner wrench to add tension to properly adjust/set-up the rear suspension.

A bit about me... I'm a 48 year old guy that is 6'3" and weigh 250 lbs. I mention this because I was surprised to see 43 MPH. I purchased this more as a toy that anything, but am hoping my 13 year old son will want to ride it. As a kid I had a Honda XR 100 and currently own a 2007 Husqvarna TE 510 (dual sport on steroids). I would say the bike is ideally sized for someone 5'10" and weighing less than 200 LBS. That being said, it handled my mass pretty well.

I purchased a front fender for it, but the verdict is still out, as the way it attaches is suspect (weak). I also purchased two round 6000 lumen five LED round lights to supplement the wide beam center light. We will see how that works. Ideally, I would like to use the lights to ride some deer trails along the river, and the lights would help a lot.

Note that my experience with Lunacycle was excellent. At $3500 this bike certainly isn't inexpensive, but it appears to be well built and performs well.

Update - to adjust the rear suspension sag (tighten the spring) you will need to order a spanner wrench that is smaller than the 68mm one I ordered. While I was able to tighten the spring, having the correct sized spanner would have made it an easier exercise.

I hacked the max motor into my old I zip fat tire and ,WOW recreated a new experience , thanks for Luna Cycle.

My experience with Luna has been very positive. Eric was quick to respond about a missing part from my order. He also answered my questions which was so helpful because I had never even taken a chain apart before this. I bought the toolkit which helped enormously and also the special crank nut tool. It certainly took quite a bit of time but the final outcome is nothing short of amazing. I am flying up the hills around my home in the hills of Oakland. I was not able to ride up these hills before. I just put knobby tires on my bike yesterday (another new endeavor) and am so excited to start riding the trails.
