Got this to replace a controller I messed up when tried to update a 36 volt controller to 48 volts. Replacing it was fairly easy to do and I've put over 500 miles on my bike since.

These are great. I didn’t care for the left thumb throttle that came with my motor kit. These fit well, are easy to install and plugged right in to my existing harness. An added plus is the diameter of the grips is larger than what I had before. They feel much better in my hands. Nice job Luna!

The bike is not as tiny as it looks from all the picture I've seen. I think it's the same size as a normal medium size mountain bike.

Love the belt drive and nice handle bars. The bike is very smooth and quiet due to the belt drive and street tires.

Got my bike for about a month. So far has done about 70km on the bike. I'm not even at 50% level looking at the display. I pedal or glide along bike paths most of the 70km. The motor is powerful enough to go up any hill I've thrown at it. My max speed is 67.50km/h according to the display. Not sure if it's an error or not. I did give it full throttle down a few deep hills. The bike still felt safe and stable. It must be the fat tires.

I've swapped out the stock pedals with red bmx pedals. I plan to keep everything stock for now as I don't see a need to change anything else. I might swap out the seats for little better padding.

Overall satisfy with bike.

Easy to order, arrive in the desire set time. Bike was well packed and shipped flawlessly. Assembly was straight forward and simple.

The value is strong for this and other bikes, but I'm quite concerned about the longterm value. I think replacement batteries from Luna are going to be a big issue -- they are impossible to get and communication about this is too limited. Other brands have replacements, so I'm unclear why Luna can't source them (business size?). I have an older kit which I can't use at all and I don't know what I'd do if this apollo's battery dies -- I would then have two unusable ebikes from Luna :(

For the Apollo itself, it is well put together, component choices seem appropriate and pretty good. The travel is nice, and this can do a fair amount of stuff that an Enduro bike can do. Clearance is sometimes an issue compared to other e-bike geometries in the rocky mountains.

Up until this point, I have put around 300 miles on the bike and I have waffled a little between a 4 and a 5 star review. All things considered, and the fact that I absolutely do not regret my purchase, leans me towards 5.

Here is why....

What I loved:

1) Receiving the bike, packaging was great, assembly was not too complicated overall.

2) I ride 7 miles each way to work. I am not in great shape but can maintain ~23 mph on average (on mostly flat terrain). Takes 20 to 25 minutes to get to work, and despite the electric assist, I still get in a pretty good workout. Going downhill I was able to get up to 39 mph which gathered some interesting looks from drivers keeping pace with me. A nice perk is that my coworkers are all semi-professional cyclists in great shape, so now riding to a brewery with them feels a lot less demoralizing when I am finally able to keep pace.

3) I've tested range, while maintaining the above speeds (on mostly flat terrain, ~200 meters of total elevation change), to be about 18 miles on full assist. Plenty easy for me to be able to get to work and back without having to charge. Total weight, including accessories, during these tests is estimated to be ~230 lbs.

4) I've received several compliments on the bike, before they knew that it was electric, and then they were amazed when they found out it was electric. Had several coworkers ask for more details on the bike and have been contemplating getting one themselves.

What I did not (do not like):

1) The pictures on the website when I purchased the bike made it seem like I would get a reasonably nice color speedometer (although partly my fault since these were in customer images with no image of the speedometer in official photos). What was received is a much smaller OLED black and white display. Still would have bought the bike either way, was just disappointed in not receiving what was expected. I understand the stealth aspect, but that little display can be hard to see. In the end, it does what I need it to do, so not too big of a deal. Although would be nice if Luna put a picture of the display in their product images.

2) Probably more of a preference thing, but I really wish the bike came with even a simple paper quickstart guide for assembly instead of having to pull out the computer and watch scattered youtube videos.

3) I was quite meticulous about assembly, specifically the tuning of the gates belt and the IGH alignment. Despite all of this, the IGH has a significant issue where in 3rd gear, sometimes immediately and sometimes after riding for a little while, the pedals will give way for about half a rotation before re-engaging 3rd gear. This is extremely alarming when riding, especially when riding in the standing position, as suddenly one of your legs will give way with the pedal and you have to catch yourself. It happens about 60% of the time after I shift into third. I am in a hands on engineering role at my current company, so I'd like to believe I did the install correctly. I may spend a bit more time fine tuning the IGH to determine bias of the yellow alignment mark within the guidelines vs improvement to the symptom above. For now, I just wait for the symptom to occur after shifting into 3rd before trying to aggressively pedal.

4) The last 20 - 30% of the battery does feel like the bike is only assisting at about half its normal capacity, though only really noticeable on hills. Honestly not that big of a deal since all it does is remind me of how important the bike is to me.

A simple and clean machined part. This is a great way to allow common chainrings on your Bafang motor letting you decide what gearing you want. Super easy to install and allows for a quick swap to different sizes without having to take things apart.

Installed these on my Z1 and they work great. I prefer the riding position with these. Cut 2” off each side and they fit perfectly.
