Customer service was good. The girl that was directly working with me was polite and sweet. There are a few things to be desired. Open Road is NOT the lender, which they could of explained upfront. This causes multiple companies pulling your information (at least it seems from different letters coming telling me they could not approve me). Second, when my loan was actually approved it went thru a company that forces you to have automatic payment or charges you a minimum of 3.95 to pay online or thru a phone call. Yes, online! This adds another $240 to the life of the loan. Again, the people are nice but if I would of known these things upfront I probably would not have signed up.

Agent William Destro was rude to speak with, sent misleading documents and statements made during the process which made it much more difficult then it needed to have been.

The process was simple and fairly streamlined. However, they are not particularly upfront with what this loan will actually cost you. You get lured in by one monthly rate, only to see it go up and up at each step by administration fees, gap coverage, and whatever else the actual lender throws in before you get your final number. At this point, I’m not even sure if I’m saving enough to bother doing this at all. I went from having a payment $355 a month with 5 years left to a payment of $291 a month with 6 years left. The percentage rate is much lower, but the costs associated with getting the loan eat up most of the savings. They initially quoted me a savings of about $80/month. If I choose to pay more per month and pay the loan off in my original 5 years, I only end up saving about $30/month. Big difference. The service is real and it may be a great deal for some people, but go in with your eyes open.

Gap coverage is of course completely optional and not required to finance your vehicle but is a smart investment for any customer who owes more than the car being refinanced is worth. You can rest assured knowing that you got a great deal as I can see that we were able to cut your rate almost in half which created a nice monthly savings for you. Hopefully those savings will help to make up for any confusion.
