I have challenged credit and I believe I came out with a decent deal considering my situation. I bought my car February 2019 and refinanced it 8 months later. My original rate through Drive Time (Bridgecrest) was 24.99% and my payments were $232.98 every two weeks which is $465.96 monthly or $698.94 during months that had 3 pays. I was desperate for a car, so I bought one through Drive time with low miles and it was reliable with no issues plus it was a newer model. I needed to refinance though because my payments were killing me. Openroad Lending sent me out a letter twice to refinance. The first time I ignored. The second time I went ahead and applied. Now the pre-approve interest rate they sent through the mail was not my approved rate and I did not expect it to be because they did not have a full background of my credit history or score and Credit Karma do not send a provide your real fico score. Once I applied, I got my real approval rate which is considered pre-approved until they verify all your information. My approval rate was 15.46%. Most will think that is horrible, but for someone with challenged credit and whose initially interest was 24.99%, I was really happy. I will say your rate only changes if your information isn't verifiable. For instance, if your income isn't verifiable, it is a possibility your rates will change or you get denied all together. My rate never changed. What I was pre-approved for is what my rate is. My rate dropped nearly 10% and I am saving $155 a month. I did add on 8 months to my loan but I do plan to make additional payments so that I will pay off my car either at the same time I was initially was suppose to or sooner. They do not have early pay off penalties. I also read where some people stated that they did not know when they first payment was due. If you read the contract, it is in there. My payment date is in my contract.

My only issue(s) were the paperwork process. I had to re-send information and they move slow. I am not sure if this is just the process of refinancing a car or what. It took over 2 weeks to finalize the loan and a few extra days to pay off the car so nearly 3 weeks. Overall was happy.

Oh my gosh, I replied to a mailing from openroad which I never do but I was so happy I did. They are all complete professionals and treat you in the same way. I am now saving $120 per month and 10 points less on my interest expense. It was a great experience for me to get it done so fast with nice people.
