Pleasantly surprised that the samples were larger than they appeared in the picture. I think they're about 2 feet across, so it was easy to test out stains and see the texture from the scraping, planing and distressing to help me decide which to order.

Great product

This was my first time ordering from Hardwood Lumber Co. I was a bit nervous buying a piece of woodwork made-to-order and sight unseen, but when my countertop arrived, I didn't need to worry. I originally ordered this countertop in a 25" x 48" x 1.5" size, unfinished, and with 1/8" radius edge detail for use on a freestanding kitchen island built from a black iron pipe framework. I had some email back-and-forth with Emma (who was prompt, professional, and courteous throughout the entire process) and ultimately decided I wanted no edge detail at all. Hardwood Lumber Co. quickly refunded the additional cost I had previously paid for the 1/8" radius. The countertop arrived at my house just shy of 4 weeks after the date I placed the order, which I think is reasonable given I changed my order after I placed it. The box it came in was a little beat up, which I attribute to FedEx manhandling it, but the styrofoam packing inside kept the countertop in good condition (there were two very minor dings in the edges, which would probably not have been noticable or present if it weren't for my unfinished edges, but my kids are going to do worse as the countertop gets regular use). The build quality is very good. There's no warping or splitting at all, and even the bottom unfinished side is less rough than I expected. I began finishing the countertop the day it arrived by lightly sanding the sharp edges and applying polyurethane to the sides and bottom and a food-grade mineral oil/beeswax product to the top. The contrast between the maple and walnut brought out by the oil is strikingly beautiful and exactly as I expected based on the website. I'm excited to use this as my new main workstation in my kitchen. Overall, Hardwood Lumber Co. delivered a great product at a great price. I'll definitely be back for my next project.

What an awesome piece of wood for my computer desk! Came exactly as ordered, only more beautiful than I expected. 100% satisfied.

Company correspondence and shipping timeliness were excellent. The sizing and surface quality of the tops are good. The color and grain matching is not particularly well-considered. The tops are more "striped" (very light boards right next to very dark boards) than either the website photo showed or we had hoped we would receive.

Great product, love the new look of my stairs. After sitting out of the package to get coated, they started to cup slightly. So a quick install is suggested.
