This is my third Ambient weather station over the years, and I'm thoroughly convinced they make the best consumer grade stations on market. The setup was simple and everything worked right out of the box. The ultrasonic wind meter is much more responsive than the WS-2000 station I had before. Of importance here, this setup allows for the anemometer to be pointed in a different direction than the "required" north. Due to installation restraints, I had to point it south and was able to due so by adjusting the software in the setup.

Since we're having more rain than snow this winter in the midwest, the rain gauge has gotten an early workout and performed well. I attached it to a fence post with an auto hose clamp which worked better than the provided hardware. The signal is strong and penetrates several walls from a distance of about 150'.

Since this is in my bedroom I appreciate that ability to not only adjust the brightness (full max it's VERY bright), but also turn it off completely during a user-selected time period, typically during sleep hours.

As mentioned frequently in the reviews, it would be nice if this was a touch screen and the setup can be a bit confusing; however once it's up and running you shouldn't have to adjust it much.

Overall, I give this weather station an A+, and that's coming from a weather station junkie who's been tinkering with weather stations since my first Heathkit station 60 years ago in high school. Well done, Ambient.

So far, so good. I questions the systems performance below 32 degrees. I know that the heater improves performance but is not clear whether is a requirement in colder climates. The Tech said it's not required but When it's cold, the wind speed detection seems to be affected. Otherwise, the setup was easy and the system is performing as expected.

As expected

All worked out well.

Really love this weather station. I have a Davis Vantage Pro 2 and the anemometer kept failing after a few years at a cost of $175 a pop. So far I’m really pleased with everything about the WS-5000. Time will tell!!

The upgraded console is working just as well a smy old one.

I’ve had my 2000 series station a little over two years. It works very well with the exception of the solar charger does not work and I have to replace the batteries about every two months. I ended moving the station to a location which is easier to access.

awesome little usb, hard to open but worked like a charm

Solidly built, many useful features and decent price. Look forward to many years of use.

Very simple to install and set up. No moving parts, great.

Ws-5000, Pretty easy to setup. I like the no moving parts. Seems accurate. I got the ambient weather camera on the same order. Quality looks very good, heavy-duty.

Really enjoying it so far. Not hard to setup minus finding a place on my property to mount it. Too early to tell how long it will last but I'm hopeful it will have some longevity.

It was a Christmas gift for my adult son. At his home he setup this station, he did have problems with optional temp. sensor connecting. Otherwise he seems to think station is pretty cool.

Works as advertised

Instructions were great for first time install/setup. Remove and Replace not so great. After trial and error while chasing down remove and install info online station is now working at 100%. I am very happy with my AWS (over 5 years).

Great basic weather station! Nice, easy to read display, simple installation, and it's ready to go in minutes. If you want just the basics (temp, humidity, pressure, and a few other useful bits of data), without having to install and maintain outdoor equipment like a wind and rain gauge, then I highly recommend this unit.

So far we are enjoying the information and are waiting for a rainy windy day to watch the numbers. Its exceeded our expectations.

Excellent product!

I got the upgrade for the weather station that was being grandfathered. It did not match the readings of my previous station on wind speed by a significant difference and had to be recalibrated. I know the old station was more accurate as it was consistent with other weather stations in my area. Otherwise, it is working well.

Was easy to set up.
